This was our first family camping trip. The wife and two toddlers (age 1 and 3). Borrowed tent and went off with a sense of adventure. Pond Farm was chosen as it was the only place we could get into at short notice but the owners couldn't be more helpful.
Facilities are rustic as described but clean and adequate. Pitches are well marked and the site is quiet.
It rained all weekend and the wind blew a gale. It was wet and miserable but we had a great time. Got home in time for a scorching day. That's England for you.

All campsites should have fridges and freezers for free use by campers. This is such a sensible idea, and in line with what happens in many other countries. Why are other campsite owners so precious about this sort of thing? I feel a campaign coming on.
The site was very peaceful - although we were there mid-week before the school holidays - and run with a relaxed efficiency. As for "rustic" facilities - I would say they were just fine.
Away from the site, the footpaths in the area were badly overgrown; the pub nearby didn't do food (but one in the next village to the South was excellent); and the nearest stretch of beach really is difficult to get to. All in all, a lovely site in a good location.
PS. I wonder if by "rustic" they mean that the tourist info on the wall was approaching antique status? By the way, I noticed that hooks had been fitted in the showers, so they obviously read these comments.

We stayed here for 3 nights over the August Bank holiday. The site was fairly easy to find and despite lots of previous rain the ground was well drained and reasonably dry. This is a small site approx 30 pitches and although the kitchen and toilet areas were very cosy, they were not over crowded.
The site is in farmland and has a small road passing by it which mainly has the site's traffic. Because of the site's size and location, it is an ideal for parents with children going camping for the first time, as they can't get lost and are far away from any real traffic. We enjoyed our stay (missing lots of storms!) and found the camp staff very helpful and friendly.

Fortunately for us we had a lovely week of weather ¡V apparently the rest of the country was having thunderstorms followed by scorching sun. We had slightly hazy until the Friday and then one night of rain.
The campsite pitches are not bad, considering I got my Volvo Estate, a Trailer and a twelve man tent on the allocated patch. By booking early we got it for 8.50 a night. This gets you the pitch and access to the showers (Hot, Plenty of pressure and Private)
The cubicles have the shower and a duckboard changing area. The only gripe is a hook or two in the shower to hang stuff would be useful (it¡¦s a very small gripe ƒº )
You also get access to two sinks, one washing machine, one dryer, a microwave and a fridge. The power for the washing machines needs a small amount of coin in the meter but it¡¦s a hell of a lot cheaper than a launderette and when you have four kids its vital.
There are two camping fields and they are not too large so the maximum number of campers is never that high. The place is completely off the main drag so it¡¦s quiet and secluded. The fields themselves are bounded by impassable bushes so it¡¦s safe to let the kids run around even if they are relatively young.
The site is a great jumping off place to North Norfolk with plenty of attractions both free and expensive. There is a great kid¡¦s indoor warehouse in Cromer for very rainy days of if you just need a sit down with tea. The best beach we found to be the one off the 1000 place park to the north of the pier. It¡¦s not rocky and the beach is useable tide in or out. It also has shops and toilets on the espernade at the foot of the cliff.
We are definitely coming back next year ¡V campsites as good as this are very rare indeed.

23rd -25th july
My daughter and I stayed on this site and found it to be just to our taste. The facilities were clean and adequate for the number of tents on the site that week end (30) but as someone had said before (Rustic), but was a lot better then we expected for a rural site with a fridge and microwave.
The showers were HOT at all times and FREE.
There are a few rules but that made the site nice and friendly and very peaceful.
Well situated away from the coast road.
We went to the beach at Trimingham had to take the car but well worth it as the beach was very quite (3 miles).
Nice food just up the road at the PH about (1 mile).
Very nice site and will be returning again soon.

Spent three nights here over a rather damp summer weekend. Site is split over two fields, one for tents, the other looks like it's for caravans. Simple marked pitches, room for a car and a 3/4 man tent - so not huge, but only 3 of the 20 odd pitches were occupied, so felt roomy enough.
On a nice quiet road, next to a converted barn. Facilities, for the price were great, but only 3 loos. Power showers, sink, communal fridge(!) and microwave.
Decent pub is a good half hour away, walking on quiet roads. Best beach access is in Overstrand - turn L out the site, and after the nursery on the L, take the track on the R, up towards the big radar dish. Just before the dishes, take the path that goes down the L hand side of the compound, follow it along under the old railway till you get to overstrand. Turn L onto R, first R and follow cul-de-sac till end. You can do it in the dark, and after a tot or two of whisky (we did!)
Keep an eye out for the barn owl that hunting in the field next door!

May Bank Holiday
Very relaxed & friendly site in really pretty surroundings. The facilities are quite "rustic" but were nice & clean and the showers were always hot and powerful.
There are lots of little villages around to walk to along the quiet country lanes where you can spot the local wildlife.
£8.50 a night is a bargain if not just for the beautiful surroundings.
We had a great time there and will definately be going back.

Late May B/H 2004
We have just spent a great weekend at this site, pitches are rather small and a little tight, the owners have just starting to expand the site with more pitches and therfore are currently still ironing out some small issues such as space. The loo, shower block is new with laundry, washing up sinks, fridge, microwave and air pump for beds facility.
The site is set in a quiet rural location with interesting walks nearby, if you are very lucky you may experience uni-cycle riding as part of your stay.
Thanks again to the owners, a really nice site with a friendly atmosphere.
