We stayed here for three nights on the May bank holiday. This is a fairly small site so although it was reasonably busy it was really peaceful. The showers were great; hot running water (no annoying push button). Great facilities for kids; games room and play area. There was a small honesty shop as well. You could put stuff into the fridge or freezer if you needed to borrow them.
There’s a small number of pitches with electric hookup but I think many were booked on a long term basis which may mean it’s tricky to use EHU.
The primary reason we stayed was to cycle the cuckoo trail. The site is very well positioned to join the trail - less than 5 minutes cycle down a very quiet country lane to join it. There didn’t seem to be much else to do in the area. I guess you’d need a car in order to explore.
The owner, Karina, was very friendly and welcoming.
All in all a great little site. Highly recommended.

Just got back from another stay at this superb site. It's on our doorstep but that doesn't make it any less special. It is situated in an ideal spot off a quiet country lane and near the Cuckoo Trail so perfect for the kids with their bikes.
Karina the owner is always very welcoming, accommodating and hospitable. It's that good a site that we have stayed there more than a dozen times in the last two years and it's the garden my children don't have plus the games room with pool table, Subbuteo and table tennis, not to mention the rope swing, sand pit and now crazy golf outside. With so much to do they soon forget about their X boxes and tablets.
The facilities are excellent and we have never had a problem with noise, cannot fault it at all. Can thoroughly recommend a stay at this site, we'll be back before the season's out that's for sure!

We held our annual staff camp at this site over a weekend and loved it. There were 20 of us - all outdoor educators. The owner was super friendly and helpful. We brought down our bikes and left them overnight before and after the weekend. When our canoe trailer had a flat tyre on Sunday morning they gave us a trolley jack to change the wheel.
The site is an open flat field with views towards the South Downs. There was loads of space with only one other group on site plus some seasonal caravans. The toilets & showers were clean and the showers were excellent with lots of hot water, easy to control.
Very good location for the cuckoo's trail and cuckmere. Hailsham not far away and several nice pubs around Dicker
The little honesty shop is a lovely idea and having a fridge most helpful
Pricing favours larger numbers in unit hence only 9/10

Great campsite good facilities toilets and showers very clean and well stocked. Kids loved the indoor playroom and sandpit, swings.
Site has little shop that stocks all the essentials and a fridge where you can keep your beer wine milk ect.
Easy access to Eastbourne and local shops and supermarket's. Karina makes you very welcome.

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly owner, who gave us lots of information about the site and the surrounding area. We were told we could set up camp anywhere we liked, and we were able to select a perfect spot for our needs.
The toilet and shower facilities were great, unlimited hot water day or night at no extra charge. There was a small shop with a more than adequate supply of basics and essentials.
This site was lovely and peaceful and perfect for either couples or families with its large indoor games area for children and adults alike. Also great trail close by for cycling or walking. We had a great 5 day stay and were made to feel very welcome by the owner. This site was a little hidden gem and we would definitely visit again in the future.

Recently visited this lovely little site. There are no pitches just chose a spot and it run by a lovely woman who couldn't do enough to help you.
Its small and only fits approx. 20 tents but when we were there was only 1/2 full at any time. The showers were always hot and clean, and as its small never busy. There is a great little splay area that our 2 year old loved as well as a play room with pool table etc which older children would love when its raining. There is also a small shop with basics in which is run with an honesty system, just leaving the money when you take something and was open 24/7; a lovely touch and not something you expect these days but worked really well.
Its close to eastbourne and a walk/cycle along the cuckoo trail is well worth it.
We had a great time here and would visit again

Last year we visited Cuckoos Rest and then went back for a second stay! We didn't leave a review because we wanted to keep this gem secret! Back we went this year for a week and again, have booked a second week later this month! We can't stay away. The secret is the lovely lady who runs the site. She knows how to make you feel welcome and always helps with everything she can. It's all very relaxed and unlike any other campsite we have been to where it's all rules and nagging.
The situation is pleasant with views of the Downs. The area is flat and well drained and you can pitch easily. The showers and toilets are kept clean and well maintained.
There is a small, but well stocked shop where you simply leave a note to say what you bought - wonderful trust that deserves praise. You can freeze your ice blocks and store a few things in the fridge - a really good touch when the weather is as hot as it has been. I could do on and on extolling the virtues but then you will all want to go and we won't get in next time
Oh, and of course, the cycle route is great and nearby attractions are endless. We will be booking again in 2015.

Just returned form a fab 2 night stay at this lovely gem of a site. The lady is so pleasant and will literally do her up most to help you have an enjoyable stay. She puts her all in to this site and the facilities and atmosphere of the site shows this.
Firstly its worth mentioning that the site is gated off and not huge so the kids are more than safe to have the freedom to run around and explore and wherever you pitch you would be able to see them for peace of mind.
So There is a little shop/reception at the entrance that is run with a honesty tray which if you don't have right money the lady will find you and bring it later. They stock all the esstentials and does not cost the earth for e. G pack of bacon £1, a selection of 10p sweets for the kids and ice lollies from 60p how good is that! so nice NOT to be over charged.
The whole field is level and you can pretty much pitch wherever you want with plenty of space between pitches. There is a little park, with swing, monkey bars, slide etc and a tyre swing from a tree there is also a large sand pit with buckets/ spades and a brilliant indoor games room that has got so much to do to keep the kiddies occupied football, table tennis, pool and kids corner with colouring, black boards, building bricks and some comfy sofas around should you wish to sit and chill for a while.
Toilets and showers although basic very clean and plentiful hot water and free! plenty of toilet rolls and soap never run out. Nice wash up area with again plenty of hot water. Some cows and horses in the adjoin fields to watch.
Location is excellent we only live down the road but this site would be a good base for you to explore Eastbourne and its surrounding areas you also have the cuckoo trail a short walk away should you wish to walk or cycle the route.
Can not recommend this site enough I will certainly be bringing my family back again. Also the prices are very reasonable for the facilities you get. Well done cuckoos rest and see you soon :)

We have mixed feelings about this site it looks a bit rough on arrival. The mixture of thrown together buildings give it an overall look of tatty and to be honest the shower block wasn't much better.
Honesty box, lovely owner, gem of a site etc. The area is outstanding and beautiful being one of the only attributes. We came back after a day at the beach to find another camper had virtually perched on top of our tent. They had noisy kids that played football past 10 at night.
This site is more suitable for families, not couples as kids definitely rule! We like to sit outside our tent with a glass of wine relaxing, not playing dodgeball. Our children were tired out by 8 o'clock but unable to sleep because of all the noise. Better management of the site would solve this! Will return to the area.
