We stayed here for one night mid August and although it wasn't too busy due to bad weather I think it would be too crowded at full capacity.  We pitched in the lower tent field with no hookups and it is a bit of a walk from the toilet / shower block, although we were advised when booking to bring a torch for night-time toilet trips!

Toilets were very basic and seemed clean although toilet paper wasn't replaced that often.  There were two ladies showers at the end of the toilet block and a portacabin just behind with mens showers.  As it is a waterski and swimming club as well, all the people doing those activities seemed to be using the toilets and showers so I can imagine it would get busy at peak times.  They is a laundry room with two sinks for washing up (plenty of hot water) and various on-site food places.

There are a couple of pubs a short walk away but they stop serving food at 2pm on a Saturday and one closed mid afternoon which was a shame.

All in all from the outset it looked like a lovely site in a nice setting but I don't think we will be returning in the future.

Stayed at this campsite with our grandson for a weekend, although the lake and the surroundings are very pretty, it stops there.
The toilets are a drive away or a very very long walk, as is the shower and the 1working  water point. The toilet block 2qs awful, broken toilet seat, green mouldy walls. At 1 point there was no toilet paper, and nothing to dry your hands on. The 2 showers really  are not much better.

This site is a  water skiers park. Lighting is almost zero and uneven road/path make mean a torch is a must at this place.

The web page makes it look like you are able to swim in the lake, but this is not so.

An ok site especially for those that love water sports. Staff very friendly and views beautiful. Unfortunately the actual facilities are not good, the shower room is right next to where the sluice is and to be honest I would not want to shower in it anyway. In order to get water you have to hike up to the main building. If you want a basic site that has no frills this is the one for you!

To cut it short, I do NOT recommend this site for tourers it seems its another way to get some money, the toilets are dirty, the showers are not fit to use and the noise is unbelievable, and where it comes from I don't know. Cars coming and going at all hours its really only for the ski club, stay well away.

Very basic site, which catered more for caravans than tents. We requested Electric Hook Up but the pitch we was shown was cramped between two caravans so we decided against using the Hook Up and pitched in the lower field instead, a basic pitch where you like (although this was April and may be different in the summer)

This lower field is beside the lake and was a constant worry as we had a toddler with us, fishing is available although with a speed boat constantly up and down I don't think you'd catch much.

The toilet block is a fair walk away and is very basic but clean although there was only 2 showers for the whole site. There was a bar on site but was for water ski club members only. Golf Course nearby (not sure if a private course though) Very Pretty church adjacent to the campsite but not much more to see.

Very basic site, only one sink worked in ladies toilet. Pitches very poorly placed in relation to electric points. Felt as though as many were put onto site as possible. No washing up facilities for tents, just one tap on edge of site. Tent site long way from toilets and showers. Just two showers for 30+ pitches and tents which were on another field. Childrens play area although fenced is situated next to the lake. Fishing only allowed from picnic area, and is £6 a go. If on electric pitch, word of warning, as it is alongside a church and graveyard, on a sunday the bell rings at 8am in the morning for some time, then at regular intervals!

Smallish site very much geared up for water skiing and corporate entertainment, such as clay pidgeon shooting. Many pitches taken with 'season' vans, some of these a bit on the rough side and inhabited by colonial youngsters involved with the skiing activities. Site is directly adjacent to the village church, and yes they do have bells. A single toilet block is at one end of the site with two unisex shower rooms on the end. All facitilies were very clean. Fresh water and liquid waste facilities all in the same area. Waste water unit is app. 4 feet high, forcing us to empty the wastemaster when only half full.
Whilst the area is very nice, good shopping in Braintree, unlikely we will return due to the constant noise.

wonderfull campsite. especially if you like waterski.
High society environment turned out to be surprisingly normal people.
2 Enthousiastic Ladies run the cafe and can cook better than i ever tasted from my mothers's kitchen!Very friendly environment.
Toilets are clean as are the schowers.
Running hot and cold water.
Great playing area for young kids.
We experienced a silly misunderstanding but that was solved in a professional way to both parties satisfaction.
greetings Pim Tom and Sandra
