We stayed here for 6 days prior to school holidays and the site was not even half full until weekends when it is very busy. These are our findings: Lovely people who run the site, two very friendly, quiet dogs (however, one of the owners dogs) comes visiting people in the camp site. ODD is a very nice creature but was observed leaving excrement in many places - in 3 quiet days 15 lots of poo were counted!, I was very upset when I stepped in one, late at night it was very unpleasant. The owner does clean it up when approached and it can be difficult to spot at times in the long grass. The owner was understanding but I think it would be helpful if the gates were closed as to prevent this in future.

There are 2 combined shower cubicles which have a small basin and toilet, one for females and one for males. We were very lucky and did not have any problems utilising them but some campers did. Separate toilets would have been more convenient as I had to rush a shower for a desperate person needing the loo one weekend day. I personally do not think these are luxury but may be I am fussy, ladies floor had loose tiling. Showers at expensive at a £1 but it does last 10 minutes +? and the water is lovely and hot. There is only cold water available in the small basin in the shower room. There is one washing up sink with hot and cold water in the shed, which was adequate. The road can be noisy for some but was not a problem as we took ear plugs.

The area had lovely trees, great wildlife (foxes, deer, rabbits seen in the vicinity). The owners have resident chickens who visit after breakfast seeking out your scraps (and a cockerel) this was really nice. Several donkeys and geese in the pond field/area too, again noise not a problem it was lovely seeing this scene. What we also loved about the site was the open fires, the owners provide free drums usage for a fire and a barbecue grills. This made the trip too - the owner provides wood at a cheap cost of £2 a bag, well worth it! We liked the site and enjoyed our holiday immensely but admittedly the poo was a problem for us.

Surrounding area, local pub 3 minutes drive do meals, visit the nice town Battle (6-7 miles away)for supermarket, pubs, see the 1066 battle ground it was very interesting, have a nice coffee and a cake at the place pilgrims used to visit this is great too and there are loads of other cafes and shops. Hasting is a wonderful fishing town worthy of a visit too. There are lots of things to do in the area.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Site owners very welcoming and helpful people. Having the chickens walk around you is lovely.

The resident dogs are Molly and Oddy, both very friendly and not too intrusive.

We were in the field furthest from the road but to be honest I did find it a bit loud late at night (Not busy though).

The worst thing during our visit was no hot water for washing up (the boiler was broken) so getting everything clean was a bit of a nightmare and the water was freezing! No hot tap in the WC's either.

The shower was OK but not much more, very little pressure. The weather was very wet when we visited and sadly it seemed other campers didn't understand the concept of how the (provided) mop worked. Didn't take long to get muddy and grassy.

We visited this site as it allows camp fires and it was the one feature that made an otherwise wet / grey weekend so much more enjoyable. Sack of wood complete with kindling at £2. We got through a sack and a half each night which lasted a good few hours.

A nice base to visit Hastings / Rye / Camber etc from. Small private basic little site that I would visit again.

Have just returned from spending the May Day Bank holiday weekend here with a group of friends.

The owners were very friendly and helpful.

The site itself is quite small. I was told they were allowed 10 units although on the Saturday night I counted 13 (9 on the other 2 nights). I counted 6 electric hookup points.

There are 2 flattish camping areas, one third is right next to the road then there is another line of trees and the other 2 thirds of the site is here.

The shower facilities are amazing. Think of an en suite that you would be happy to have in your home! (1 male and 1 female!) The Shower (£1) is lovely and hot, more powerful than mine at home and lasts ages! (at least 15 mins so easily enough for 2 showers!) The site was busy so the toilet paper did get low but I only noticed it run out once (so used the mens!)

There was no plug for a hair-dryer etc, but then I expect building regs wouldn't allow a socket in a shower room!

There was also a washing up room (shed). Basically one sink with as much very hot water as required, a draining board and a table which was also extremely clean.

The site has 4 rules.

1) leave the loos / washing up room as clean as you find them (mop provided)

2) place the camp-fire drums on bricks provided

3) don't camp too close to each other (6m rule)

4) if you open a gate close it behind you.

There is no quiet time; probably because there are donkeys who do occasionally eeyore during the night (and day) and the cockerel (although I only heard him cockadoodledooing early 1 morning)

You can also buy lovely eggs (90p for 6) laid by the resident chickens.

As well as chickens who roam freely (and did at times venture into the tents) there are 2 lovely dogs who live on the site and roam free. They are very friendly and always seem to arrive at meal times, though they didn't beg, they just lay down next to us and seemed very well behaved.

There are 2 swings hanging from the trees and 1 dog just loves to watch everyone swinging and gets very excited! He was known to try and chase the swing (in a playful way)

There were also resident geese and at times they did 'guard' the loo block, but once you had realised that you needed to show them whose boss they soon let you pass! They can be a bit intimidating though!

Residents are welcome to walk in the joining fields (worth it for stunning views) (with the donkeys etc and see the hens / baby donkey who live in the farm yard at any time)

To summarise this is a delightful small site, with few rules. It cost £10 per tent per night (inc 2 adults and 1 car) the owners were friendly, there were lots of animals and camp-fires were allowed and encouraged (£2 for a massive bag or bring your own) The facilities are probably the best I have seen yet! The only downside was the noise from the road,

I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed for one night with two friends, just to get away from it all!

A cute little campsite. Not very big, but only us with three small tents and a caravan arrived later in the evening.

Is near road but this is not a problem.

Lots of chickens roaming around and a resident dog, all very friendly.

Toilets and showers seemed luxurious compared to other sites I've visited of recent (check my other reviews).

Only downside was some animal mess left outside our tents overnight, not sure if it was from the resident dog or the dog with the visiting caravan??? (not nice whoever was the culprit)

 Fantastic 10/10!

If you're after a site buzzing with other campers, club house and facilities, it's probably not right for you but we were first time campers and loved it.

The owners were friendly and helpful and it was great to freely roam the surrounding fields enjoying the dogs/chickens and donkeys - the children loved it.

There was only 2 toilets/showers but they were clean and had handsoap and cotton towels.

Having campfires was great and added to the whole ambiance of the site.

Excellent value for money, costing only £12 for a tent with 2 adults and 2 children including electric hookup per night.

A great time was had by all and I'd come and stay here every weekend given the chance!

We loved this site we spent 4 nights there among the chickens and the dogs. The owners were lovely and even made us a new fire basket. There is only the one shower and loo for each gender but this was not a problem as the site was very quiet (and we often used the same one as the shower is £1 and lasts forever). There is no washing up facility.
The ground is mostly on a slope but none of that matters because the animals free range eggs and trees more than balance it out

We (one couple) had two nights here over a weekend.

Overall the stay was good, but could have been better.

There was one bathroom (with toilet and shower [1Pound]) for each male and female. This was enough on a small site. They were very clean and nice when we arrived on Friday but did not get cleaned while we were there so were getting a bit rough.

10 Pounds a night for the two of us in our tent is pretty good. One pound sounds a bit steep for a shower but it went for ages (12-15mins) before we gave up and got out.

The site is not particularly flat which can be a problem.

Is near a road, but not a problem.

The people were nice enough.

We would be happy to go back there but not desperate.

I stayed for a week on this site just me and my partner, it was great! There are loads of chickens roaming free which are really tame. You can walk through where the chickens are and donkeys stay. The donkey was fully pregnant when we were there, the owners were talkative and happy to answer any questions.

We don't drive which was a bit of a nightmare as the nearest shop is not walking distance! The couple were so friendly she took us to the shops. There are buses that run every 2 hours to the nearest supermarket and Hastings itself. We really enjoyed this campsite and for the £10 a night for 2 we certainly couldn't moan! We was nearest to the road which isn't that noisy so didnt bother us much. There is one toilet for females and one for males, the lady cleans them every morning so they're very clean.

Think it would be a good site for children as its all enclosed with a rope swing to play on.

They sell bags of logs for £2 a bag but we got sticks as well from the wood. They got quite a lot of custom for the free range eggs most days. Very nice people on site too. The nearest pub was only 15 minute walk, with very nice couple running it too (only been there 4 months). As a whole we loved this site and will be going back when we drive! Basic and traditional camp site.

I went to this site for the first time last week, just for a couple of days of R&R on my own, and it was just wonderful! I will definitely be going back.

It's a lovely small site, with one toilet/shower block that is very clean and well maintained. Bins for recycling are provided, along with a chemical waste area. There is a small play area for kids complete with tyre swing, and as there was no-one around I decided to re-live my youth and have a go!

The owners are lovely and very accomodating and helpful, the chickens and dogs roam free around the field and are also very friendly. You can buy eggs laid by said chickens, as well as logs for your fire. There are fire pits dotted around the site, or you can just create your own, as long as you clear up after.

If the weather is good it is a pleasure just to stay on site and soak up the sun, or you are a short distance from Rye and Hastings.

A real gem of a place if it's basic, peaceful camping you're after, with friendly people and a friendly atmosphere. I LOVE IT!

We love this site, this is our second visit to this camp site this year and I can't see it being our last. Very friendly easy going site. The camping was only £10 per night for a camper, 2 adults with hook-up.
