The facilities are Caravan Club and are exactly what you would expect. They also have recycling bins for paper; glass bottles; tins and plastic bottles.
The Wardens were friendly; helpful, and in the back-ground until asked.
The Site location is mid-way between the South Devon (South Hams) Coast-line and Dartmoor, and is a quiet site (when we went), being surrounded by fields of sheep and cattle. There is a small play-area, which I would say is just suitable for under 10's.
There is a large 'Extra' Tesco off the A38 (Plymouth direction)near Lee Mill, although this is better reached via the Bittaford / Ivybridge back-road (B3213 - just follow the B3196 road via California Cross - the reverse of the journey into the site). Morrison's is on the out-skirts of Plymouth via the A379 Modbury - Plymouth road, and Sainsbury's is on the out-skirts of Dartmouth.
A car is a must at this site to get anywhere, although there is a fairly easy walk into Modbury from the site; be warned though that it is harder on the return as most of it is uphill coming back (when you reach the road into Modbury note how steep it is going down, and think 'return').
Dartmouth is a 'must', and if you can, take the A379 out of Dartmouth heading for Torcross / Kingsbridge - the views are fantastic. Before Torcross, Slapton Sands is great for a 3 1/4 mile walk with the dogs (shingle), with parking available at both ends and in the middle.
Another great walk is on the Coastal Path from NT Wembury to Heybrook Bay - Bovis Sands, or Warren Point in the other direction. Unless members, there is a £4 parking charge (all day - cheaper than the towns / villages), and the Pub at Heybrook serves great food at reasonable prices (dogs welcome).
All in all, a lovely place to stay for peace and quiet with most places easily reachable by car.
You need a car to visit anywhere from here. Plenty to see and do. Beaches, Plymouth, Dartmouth, Dartmoor etc etc.
It rained & rained every day so many pitches were water logged & had to be closed. We were pitched by the children's play area, which had good equipment. Unfortunately it is a bit tucked away so most children are not supervised by their parents. The poor wardens spent a lot of time trying to get the children to play responsibly.
The site is visited by a very good fish & chips van.
No nearby shops within walking distance. Nearest large supermarket is at Ivybridge. Smaller shops at Modbury.
In a lovely part of the country so I'd come and stay again- hopefully in the sunshine!
As usual with Caravan Club sites, this one is of a high standard. The pitches, 97, 37 of them are hardstanding, are very well spaced on mostly flat ground. The toilet block was immaculate with 5 toilets, 8 washrooms and 4 showers in the mens. The water was always hot. A plate wash area with 3 sinks, a chemical desposal point and a laundry are all contained in the toilet block. There is a small play area with a few swings and a climbing frame. The office also seemed to double as a shop with a very basic range, but you are about a 5min drive to Modbury where there is a supermarket, pubs, restaurants and some shops. It's a small picturesque town. There is a dog walking field and a playing field ajoining the site.
The site is a little isolated with quite narrow approach roads and about 10 miles from Plymouth and Kingsbridge, 20 miles from Dartmouth and Totnes.I would stay here again.
