First time at this site and loved it, can't wait to return.
Good location in between Windermere and Kendal.
Site well laid out with spacious level pitches both grassed and hard standing. Glad we chose hard standing as it never stopped raining the whole week we were there!
Site facilities immaculate at all times and staff friendly.
Nice little bar on site serving food. There are a couple of other pubs near by, the Watermill at Ings and the Eagle & Child at Staveley that both serve excellent food.
Shop on site very limited but there is a Spar in Staveley and a wonderful Booths in Winderemere.

This is by far the biggest and better facilitated site that we have stayed on so far. A fabulous site with all amenities and facilities you’d expect from a larger site. Including friendly pub serving bar food and traditional ale, small shop, wifi available at a cost and laundrette.
A well favoured family site, so if you’re looking for peace and quiet then the middle of the school holidays may not be the time to visit. Overall standards, service etc very satisfactory.
Situated just off the main road between Kendal and Windermere, nearest town is Stavely, accessible across country for a lovely walk along the stream but bear in mind there are plenty of stiles to tackle and some of the route is a little rough under foot, but a relaxing walk of about 2-3 miles. The Hawkshead brewery is now in the centre of Stavely and offers regular tours plus its own bar with food, offering all their current ales – so definitely worth a visit! Great food can be had at the Eagle and Child too, along with The Watermill in the other direction toward Windermere. A perfect base for walkers, cyclists and sightsee-ers alike.

This is my second visit to this site (Had a pleasurable stay last time too).
Booking online was very quick and easy.
Checking-in was a pleasure, then was shown to our well kept (and level) pitch by a friendly warden.
The pub on site was welcoming, friendly staff, good food and always a great atmosphere.
Breakfast in the family room was good and well priced.
Showers and toilet block were ALWAYS faultlessly clean, showers were nice and warm no matter what time of day you got to them.
The backpacker's hut was very handy next to the camping area.
I Can't comment on the children's play area as we don't have children so didn't use it.
The site shop could have done with being better stocked, nearby Stavely Village is just down the road with a couple of bigger shops so no real issue.
All in all the site was very good, Well worth the 600mile round trip.
We will be visiting again that is for sure.

We have stayed before at this lovely site as my daughter and grandson swam the great north swim in june. It is one of the friendliest site we have been to the staff are first class, nothing to much trouble we took my grandaughter with us and spent many a hour measuring the rabbit hole with her hole measurer as she called it. The facilities are keep to a very high standard, we will be going again, hopefully this year and surprise surprise we had wonderful weather

First time in lake district and loved it. Site was first class clean tidy and well laid out. Good dog walk area outside club. Nice pub and good food. Close to Windermere and Kendal alike. Would I return yes and to this site. Yes there was kids on bikes etc but never a problem my kids did the same years ago funny how you change as you get older. Pitches hard standing and level. 2 shower and toilet blocks.

Fisherground Campsite - Eskdale
Nestling in the beautiful Eskdale Valley close to Scafell, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, this site is a children's paradise in the heart of the Lake District. The first thing that meets you on arrival is the pond, fed by a stream and usually full of children paddling and playing on tyre rafts. The playground has zip wires, climbing frames, tyre rope-swings and adventure courses.
Grass pitches (some with EHU) for tents, motorhomes, VW-sized campervans (no caravans). Refurbished toilets, showers and laundry. Peace is the watchword on the campsite - catering mainly for families and couples with silence after 10.30pm. Don't forget your marshmallows - campfires are allowed in selected areas. Nearby shop and pub. And there's an added extra: the site sits along the route of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway line, with it's own station. Choo Choo! Find out more here

Easy to find site directions very clear. Upon arrival at reception were met by very friendly and accommodating staff. Site very well laid out and beautifully landscaped. Lovely small bar and restaurant on site that cater for breakfasts and evening meals. We tried both and would recommend highly. Although we don't really use site facilities very much any services that we did use were immaculately clean, tidy and obviously kept to a high standard. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area and we will definitely return to this site in the near future.

Have just returned from a great stay at this beautiful site. We have visited many different sites over the years but this has to be one of the most attractive we have stayed at. It is well laid out with pitches in different areas, with many silver birch trees and bluebells. Toilet blocks immaculate as always and warm. We were there for the Bank Holiday weekend and had two glorious sunny days then a few days of more typical Lakes weather! Had another visit to Sizergh castle which is always worth seeing. Just love the Lake District-wish it was nearer to our home in Shropshire.

Our 4th visit to this site & the fact that we keep coming back (and will continue to do so) speaks volumes.
The site was, as on previous visits, clean and friendly with spacious pitches so you don't feel as though you're living in your neighbour's pocket.
The shop on site is well stocked and staff are friendly and always on-hand to help out (had a problem with wasps and this was dealt with immediately).
The play areas are ok but would benefit from more equipment as they get full once there's more than a handful of kids on site, but this didn't bother ours too much as the site is very family friendly so they were able to play on their scooters in front of the pitch or play football on the grass.
There is a little restaurant/pub on site (meals are a little on the pricey side for what you get but nothing extortionate) which is handy as the site is not within walking distance of any towns.
Overall, very pleased and will continue to come back.

Firstly be aware the site is not at Windermere which is a good twenty minute drive away. The nearest place of any size is Kendal.
Large site, somewhat expensive site fees, but we have never had a problem getting a pitch. Access road to the site is fine & no problems passing with a caravan. There is a small shop and the site has its own bar. There's a Morrisons at Kendal and a Booths at Windermere for supplies.
Staveley - a big village - is the nearest place and there's a nice walk over the fields to Staveley from the site. If you have a dog, it will need lifting over some of the stiles. Staveley has a Spar, a couple of pubs and a chippy as well as a large bike shop and the Hawkshead Brewery. The public bar is always worth a visit at the brewery and it is dog friendly - try the Brodie's Prime!
Although this is The Lakes, there are some nice walks from Staveley - Potter Fell, Reston Scar and the Cumbria Way along the River Kent. There are footbridges at Staveley & about a mile south of the village so the river walk can be circular

One of the best small big sites I have stayed on. The staff are not at all officious as is the case with some other club sites I have stayed on but they keep the place immaculate and are always helpful.
The on site bar may not suit everyone but the beers are excellent and very welcome as it is quite a walk to the nearest alternative in Staveley (the beer hall at Hawkshead brewery in Staveley is worth a visit though).
Plenty of wildlife on site, rabbits, Pheasants etc. Doesn't feel like it is as big a site as it is.
Three toilet blocks with staggered cleaning times is helpful.

A beautifully maintained site with staff that are willing and eager to please. Shower facilities are extremely modern and well maintained and are included in the price of your stay.
Dogs are welcome on site but not in any of the covered facilities, leaving you to seek solace in the nearby village of Stavley where they are welcome almost everywhere.
Windermere is not as close as is suggested on the owners website. It's a good 20 minute drive if the roads are clear, longer if there is a fair amount of holiday traffic.
There is an on site dog walking area, though it is very small, but just outside the site is a wooded area with a public footpath that goes on for a good few miles through the woodlands and streams.
The on site shop/reception area stocks only the bare minimum so it's best to get directions to the nearest shops or come stocked!
We've put N/A for child friendliness as we don't have children but there were some on site, although they were extremely quiet!

We have arrived back from a great week at windermere site, the staff we very helpful and pleasant. The weather was very rainy but we enjoyed the week as all the facilities were very well kept, better then some dearer sites our hook up was not long enough so they lent us a extension no trouble to them at all.
In all we will be back to a great site that the caravan and camping club should be very proud
We had a lovely walk to staverly where we got the bus to windermere. The pub in the village looked very nice. We will go next time we are there

Just back after six nights at this superb site with our F. C
The pitches are level and very well maintained,
The toilet and shower blocks were spotless as were the dish washing facilities.
The on site shop is very well stocked, also there is a small bar with a family room (we used this on two occasions) the food was very good.
The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them, we were made very welcome.
Stavley is not far away and is in walking distance, with two good pubs and the hawkshead brewery.
This was our first visit to this site but it will not be our last.

This was our third visit to this site, with our Folding Camper. Absolutely love it, it is one of my most favourite sites. Easy to get to, good level hardstanding pitches. Toilets and showers are always clean.
I think there are new wardens, as I didn't recognise them from last year, but they gave us a lovely warm welcome and always gave you a wave if you passed them round the site. The shop is stocked well.
We popped in at Plumgarth's Farm Shop and bought some of their sausages and a Victoria sponge cake, both delicious.
We didn't use the bar on site, but we did have a walk to the Eagle & Child at Stavely, takes about 40 mins and is about a 4 mile round trip. But is a lovely walk. We had a meal in there on our last night, it's great as you can take the dog in the bar and the food is lovely, good hot home cooking.
We had a day out in Grasmere, which is lovely.
Weather was a bit mixed and we had some heavy downpours.
The dog walk is good and if the sheep aren't in the field you can let your dog off the lead for a good old run!
We are hoping to return again, later in the year.

Just returned today from 2 night stay for New Year. 2nd year running we have spent New Year at this site. It's one of our favourites. Despite the wet weather it doesn't dampen (excuse the pun) our time in the van. Site suffered from slight flooding but as usual the wardens did a fantastic job in trying to drain the pitches. Some suffered more than others. I can highly recommend this site for Christmas and New Year. Many vans decorated with lights, Santas & trees. Entertainment in marquee for New Year with some folks braving the elements and welcoming in the New Year in their awnings. Very friendly site with great wardens. A credit to the C &CC!
