 I can only re-iterate the previous comments, very friendly and loved the way you could choose your own pitch, ( wish people would park and walk about to do this though ).
There is a hidden secret to this site, if you go through the gate half way up the site and into the field above there is an old Drovers route which takes you up to the top of the hill and the views are spectacular. You can see across Kerrera to Mull and beyond.
We had a fortnight and didn't do half the things we had planned.
Take the ferry over to Kerrara and walk straight to the other side and then South and round to the lovely tea shop. Brilliant.

Stayed for 1 night in a motorhome as travelling to Mull early the next day, arrived in the pouring rain, friendly welcome and told which zones to pitch in, recommended we avoid the grassed areas due to the rain, this however brought its own problems as everyone then crammed onto the hard standings making it feel like a French Aire which is ok when your not paying £20 a night!
As we were off early the next day settled down for an early night and given how close we were to each other had a surprisingly peaceful night. I'm sure had the grassed ares been in use it would of been much better.
Very clean facilities despite the appalling weather and can get a cab into Oban if you wish to go out to eat in the evening.

Nice location, but some sloping pitches. Facilities good and staff friendly and helpful. Some of the hard staying pitches near to reception are quite cramped.
Very handy for getting into Oban albeit using quite a narrow road that has plenty of passing places

This is the largest campsite I have ever camped in. Impressively though, as big as it is, the grass is kept immaculate. They use cones to keep tents off the yellowed patches from previous tents, and it seems to work well.
The toilets are cleaned at least three times a day, and I have seen the same guy go around the site picking up any small pieces of rubbish. I get the impression he is obsessive with his work, so you could not accuse the managers of this site as having a complacent attitude.
The site has a good atmosphere for me as I feel I have as much space as I need for my large tent, car and trailer.
The only criticism is that you need to go to the reception area at the gate to pick up wifi, where I think they could extend it by using an extender in the toilet block somehow.
The road to get to the place is a bit narrow, with some morons even using the passing places to park their cars, adding to the tension when towing a trailer or caravan.
One of the best campsites near Oban IMO though, all due to the fact that the staff look like they care and at least try to respect that some of the campers have travelled hundreds of miles to get there.

The site was nicely situated with a nice outlook over the beach. But maybe it was just us but the owner was really grumpy and unfriendly.
My husband had a shower and they were filthy, the worst he'd ever been in and people could see in as he was showering and getting dressed, not the best

This campsite has a magnificent view. We found everything spotless, showers, toilets. There was no water contamination problem. The little shop on site is well stocked.
The owners are very friendly. It took us 15 min. To Oban center by bike. Probably 2 by car. We stayed for two nights and everything was perfect.

Stayed here overnight during our recent tour of the Highlands. It is an ideal spot for a visit to oban and the surrounding area and has great fishing opportunities from the jetty into the Loch. The site was clean, with what initially appeared to offer plenty of space. However, a lot of the site is sloping as areas are on different levels. The showers weren't that impressive, either too hot or too cold. Reminded me of a shower over the bath trying to get the temp just right. The sinks had modern non touch sensors for the taps, however they need adjusting as you can only wash one hand at a time!
The staff were friendly and the groundsmen were busy making sure the site remained tidy. The grey water waste was not ideally located on a slope as it required huge accuracy when dumping the water otherwise it ran down the road.
Would we stay again? Probably but only because there is little alternative in the area.

I thought this site was lovely, even though the showers were a bit old. I am horrified to read of the water contamination on the other reviews. I was there in July and my hubby fetched the water and he never mentioned contamination! I am hoping it was resolved when we were there. He was quite ill later in our trip! I drank the water too mind, and I am ok.
Anyway, besides that it was beautiful and they had free wifi too. Which if you go anywhere in the Highlands you will realize is very rare. So make the most of it while you are there.
The site is just a short drive into Oban, where we got the ferry to Mull the next day. So cant complain.

Returned to this site after a break of three years. We had 18 nights on Barra prior to booking in for 12 nights so it was convenient for the ferry terminal.
We like the site. Facilities are basic, the showers could be better and the old toilet block needs titivating up. However, we took the view as long as we can get a warm shower that would be sufficient. If the amenities are the most important thing on a holidaymakers itinerary then these will fall way below standard. CC and CCC sites are much better served by large heated toilet blocks. The grey water waste disposal area means having to lift the wastemaster off the ground to a level of a foot to sixteen inches, not the best. The water contamination notice didn't trouble us. The water at Gallanach has always been dark peaty colour. We never drink from the onboard tanks anyway (and we do sterilise them between trips). We use bottled water for drinking. Showering and brushing teeth caused no problems.
For location and views the site ticked all the boxes. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The weather was pretty atrocious at times and as well as the site owners, we pulled a few people off the wet muddy grass with our 4x4.
We will be back. We love the Oban area and the site suits our purpose. We know what we are getting and we use other more luxurious sites throughout the year, but to allow us to visit Oban and environs this site is a good base for which to do that.
It is unfortunate that some people found the site not to their liking. I would recommend the site to anyone: be aware the water may be dark in colour (hopefully this years contamination problem has been sorted - was it down south last week people were being told not to drink domestic water supplies??)the toilets are basic but the showers do work and grey water disposal could be better. Minor details for a glorious view of the sound of Kerrera and the islands.

Originally booked on for four nights we noticed the sign on the water taps saying water not suitable for drinking and food washing. We intended to spend time eating local fresh seafood which we would have to wash in van so this was a bit of a problem. My wife spoke to the owner raising concerns so he refunded our fees without issue which was very good of him. Not his fault there is a problem with supply he was working to have problem solved. If this had not been the problem we would have stayed on site. I really feel for the owner as it's a lovely site in a great location. We will no doubt return in future

I arrived here negotiating the single track road with a 'small' tent and camping kit on my motorcycle.
Booked in a Reception £21 for 2 nights. Staff friendly and efficient and clearly used to dealing with touring motorcyclists. I had 3 options where to pitch up but it was suggested it would be better to go on what they call the Rally Field, just across from the main entrance which is a smaller field area off the main site. This was great firm standing for the bike and not too far walk to pitch the tent very near the sea. It was reasonably sheltered by small bushes certainly not overcrowded. I supposed the only drawback was that you had to cross the road and walk up the drive to reach the Toilet/Shower Blocks and no electric hookups but the views made up for this inconvenience. I visited the toilet shower block a few times and the particular one whilst adequate was in need of a refurbishment, No Big deal as I was led to believe there 2 other newish blocks refurbished. Previously mention in other reviews there was a notice on from Environmental Health saying it was recommended to boil the water for personal use. No big deal as the waters always been a bit 'Brackish' I noted there was an additional filter attending to the water.
Noted the usual expected facilities, Shop, Laundry washing up area.
The locations everything here 3 miles from town, my particular pitch was less than 50yrds from the sea there was a sporadic bus service, lots of people seen walking into town and less energetic getting local Taxis.

Arrived and pitched the tent. Nice campsite with great coastal views. Although we struggled to find any good hikes nearby and spent most of our time in the town centre, which has lots of nice independent stores other attractions such as McCaig's Tower and Dunollie Castle.
However, we were not notified on arrival of the absence of a safe water supply. The staff were all very nice, but it seems a bit odd this wasn't mentioned. There was a sign up on the drinking water tap telling of bacterial contamination, and that we should not use the water to brush teeth, drink, wash food etc. This was quite a big problem, especially as the sign was only on that one tap (and was quite a small sign) but not in the bathrooms. I had to stop a few people who didn't know from using water in the bathrooms.
There were also no recycling facilities on the site and the owner/staff were chucking whole slices of bread into the pond to feed the ducks, which is very, very bad for their health.
Despite these issues, the showers were bearable, although there were queues. The best part was the campers kitchen, with a free to use microwave and gas hob. Wi-Fi was also available near reception.
If the water issue is resolved then I would recommend a visit, although recycling should be improved if possible.
Only £6. 50 pppn.

Slept in a camping pod which included a sink fridge and oven although only single benches. The site is at the head of a small valley with pleasant walks in the cliff top woods and down to the sea. Much of the shoreline is private but there is a nice little beach by the entrance.
Facilities were a tired and as other reviewers have noted the water supply was not suitable for drinking. It wasn't clear whether the water bottles left by the washing up area contained drinking water or not. The washing up area was outside. As usual there wasn't enough space for changing and the showers were not adequately drained.
The site is on a single track road to Oban which is a busy and attractive port.

Arrived Oban as prelude to sailing over to Barra. So the site was picked for convenience for the ferry only. Booked in, paid fees and parked up where instructed. When going to get water a scrappy notice, in English only, announced the water was undrinkable. I. E. Should not be used for food preparation, washing up, teeth cleaning and not to be swallowed when showering. I must confess to being privately outraged that this was not mentioned when checking in and paying for the pitch. A most lamentable oversight with potentially serious implications for some. Foreign visitors with motorhomes and limited English could well have filled their on board tanks with it and continued to use it after leaving the site - thus perhaps contaminating the tank and all the internal plumbing as well as their innards. Indeed, I stopped one doing just this. Imagine his relief.
Bottled water was available in reception if you could carry it back uphill to the pitch.
The showering facilities were dated and uncongenial and the disposal facilities poor.
I am afraid the otherwise pleasant nature of the staff and the beautiful location cannot make up for such a shortcoming.

Site is 2miles from Oban along a single track road. There is almost no public transport. Although 2 of the blocks containing sanitary facilities have been refurbished they are very cramped and the water pressure is very poor. WATER - this can not be drunk or used for cleaning teeth unless it is boiled first as it contains bacteria according to an official council environmental health notice.
That said the views from the site are wonderful but I would not consider camping there again, without drinkable water you may as well wild camp.
