 Super views across the water to Kerrera, and up to the hills around the site. Very quiet, at the end of a single track road out of Oban. Does not take bookings - you can only check there is room and hope. Relaxed attitude to pitching, pick your own site (areas designated for tents only, or for motorhomes and caravans only), but it did mean some inconsiderate parking. (For example, one of the motorhome hardstandings with 6 electric sockets was taken up by just two motorhomes in a way that meant no-one else could pitch there, which meant another motorhome had to be pushed off their grass pitch due to the amount of rain that fell. In another example, a huge caravan set up right beside a tiny motorhome when the rest of the field was empty.) There did always seem to be a queue for the showers, but the dog walk in the oak woods was excellent.
Day trip to Mull is essential, get ferry and the wee train and entry to Torosay Castle all in one ticket. It's 4 pounds in the all-day carpark by the quay or free to park by the sports pavilion at the north end of town (but a 20 mins walk).

Arrived expecting to stay 1/2 nights, stayed 4! Lovely, peaceful site, plenty room for kids to run around, play badminton, footie and frisby.
Shop great for picking up basics and my kids (aged 12 and 13) loved the games room which gave me a little bit peace to relax and have a read.
Excellent for scenery and wildlife.
Could do with more showers especially in block behind shop, nearly always had to wait but at least it was always hot!
Thought price was a bit steep, £16 a night for a tent, 1 adult and 2 children but as it was the first campsite on our holiday didn't have anything to compare with til later.

Great site within easy reach of the beautiful town of oban,easy access from the town.The site is basic with toilets in all areas,with showers, hot and cold water at all times.
What I liked was I didn't have to book 3 months in advance just to get a pitch.
If I was to change anything I would put a road all the way to the bottom of the camping field as it was a little bit muddy after 3days of rain

First time at this caravan park and will definitely be coming back. Staff very friendly and laid back, we picked our own spot overlooking the water and islands - an absolutely stunning view! It was a relaxation trip for my wife and I, and we had the most blissful 2 days, didn't want to come home!
Site is approx 2.5 miles from Oban, we walked it in around 30-40mins. Oban is bustling with loads of pubs/bistros/cafes not to mention the numerous shops.
Plenty of walks to do from the beginner to the expert, and various boating trips available if you wish. There is also a scuba diving centre on the way to the caravan park.
The site itself has an enviable location, toilet facilities were basic but clean and functional. Just watch out for the (in)famous midgies, we made the mistake of wearing shorts - oops! We were there as a couple but even before the school holiday time there were plenty of families and kids running around enjoying themselves. There is also a shop on site for essentials.
All in all, I would highly recommend this site to anyone, and will most definitely return in the future.

I would recommend this site to anyone who is thinking about camping around the oban area. The site itself is very well maintained and tidy,with more than enough room to cope with a large amount of tents.The toilet blocks are a little on the small side for the amount of tents but they were always clean.We were here with our two kids who had a great time and it wasn't long before they had made friends with other children and they could play safely around the
Site without any worries. Oban is only a couple of miles away with lots of things to do and see and some excellent places to eat.One of the reasons we picked this site was that it was very close to the Puffin Dive Centre and to check out its' facilities for my local dive club in the northeast of Scotland.I wouldn't recommend that divers,campers or anyone for that matter vist this place due to the most unwelcoming attitude of the owner. Apart from this one incident the people on site and in the town of Oban couldn't have been more friendly.

Good location near to Oban with a great on-site shop and a good selection of places to pitch.
A lot of the site is a bit hilly so you need to get there early to get somewhere flat.
Seemed to attract a younger crowd with the associated noise and late night antics. Views are OK but not as great as I was expecting. Showers/toilets are a bit grotty and not enough of them given the size of the site.

We have enjoyed staying this site in previous years, as a one night stop-over for the Cal-Mac ferry to Mull. This time we stayed 2 nights en route to the North of Scotland. When we arrived, I was dismayed to see how crowded the camping field was, before realising that the children in Scotland break up from school in early July. We had a lovely pitch high up on the site and not overlooked.
The facilities were down the hill from us, in the middle of the field, and although clean and well maintained, they were inadequate for the number of campers there at busy times, with queues for the two showers and four toilets in the Ladies. Also there wasn't ever any hot water for washing up despite the water in the Ladies' washbasins being piping hot at all times. I enjoyed a day exploring Oban town, and I can recommend the crab sandwiches from the kiosk on the quay near the Cal-Mac ferry terminal. My partner went fishing near the Bridge of Connel and caught 6 mackerel which we shared with a neighbouring camping couple, and we barbecued ours.
We would definitely go again to this campsite but hopefully choose a quieter time.

OK, in retrospect perhaps I shouldn't have chosen a long weekend in July - the place was packed, and noisy over Sat/Sun. I was there with son and dog, and we had a good time - but not on the site, because there isn't much for kids to do there. A tiny play area with 4 swings, which were roughly used and abused by kids from the larger urban conurbations.
As mentioned elsewhere, the toilet block facilities do not begin to cope with demand, and by no stretch of the imagination can they be called clean. This has nothing to do with the business of the site, but is a general grime which has built up over some time - we only had one shower each while we were there.
The site itself is large, but there isn't much level ground so unless you get there early you will be pitching your tent/caravan on a slope. There are no defined pitches, which means that there tends to be clusters of tents/caravans around the more level areas. I had serious concerns about the safety and indeed legality (fire risk) of this lack of spacing.
There is lots of grass for kids to run around on, although the ball games area seems to be out of use in summer - during our visit it was covered with cars, motor bikes and tents.
There is plenty to do in and around Oban, from watching the ferries to hillwalking to boat trips. Plenty good food shopping and restaurants. The fish and chip shop in the centre of town, on the main drag, is better than the one on George St (on the way in to town).
Good location, good value. I will probably visit again out of season, but I won't rush to get there.

We have stayed at this site on four separate occasions in the last two years and will definitely visit again in the future. This site is set in the most scenic location with fantastic views out to sea and the Hebrides islands. Although only basic the toilet and shower facilities are always clean but they could however do with maybe a couple more showers as there are only two in the ladies block in the main camping field. As you can imagine this can be a bit of a pain at busy times. There is a small playpark for the kids but this only has a few swings and not much else. There is however plenty of space for kids to run and play and make their own fun. I would on the whole give this site 10 out of 10. A fab place to go and relax and just forget about everything

A friendly and well maintained site and although big and busy when I visited with my family we were never bothered by noise. There's no bar onsite but a well equipped shop and the although location is about 3miles from Oban with a regular bus running from the site into town.
There is a small playpark, plenty spare ground for the kids to explore and an indoor playroom if the weather's not so good all of which my 8yr old daughter loved.
This was the third time we've visited the site and although there's plenty hiking, hillwalking to pursue and a diving club nearby, our passion is fishing and the site has it's own jetty which offers great fishing for dogfish, mackerel, whiting and many other species which offers endless fun for beginners and more experienced anglers.
This is a site I would strongly recommend to families looking to meet other families, great scenery and endless outdoor pursuits on your doorstep. The only downside was the short opening hours of the shop, lack of showers and one speedbump which scraped everyones exhausts but still 10 out of 10 for me.

Awesome site! The views are amazing. Can be hilly in places so arrive early to get the most level pitch.
Large site and yet didn't have any problems with noise. Nice walk into oban takes about 1 hour if you like hiking.
Toilet blocks weren't amazing but could have been worse.
Good site for access to Oban and area and for getting across to Iona etc
Would definitely visit again.

First visit to this site which is in an excellent location a few mins drive 3 miles from Oban.
Aprox £7 taxi ride back from Oban to site.
Thought the facilities offered good value for money. Whilst on our particular visit we suffered from torrential rain the ground underfoot in the area reserved for tents remained reasonably firm.
As already mentioned in other reviews there tended to be a wait for the showers despite the fact that the field reserved for tents wasn't full. More showers needed.
Minor annoyances throughout our stay ie no hand soap in the wash basin soap machines in toilet block and the hand dryer wasn't wasn't working .Hot water tended to run out when using the allocated washing up sinks.
On balance I would recommend this site as its location is everything.

Lovely campsite, we stayed on the waters edge with a spectacular view of the islands. Oban is only a short taxi ride £6is in to town which is well worth a visit as there are lots of nice pubs and eateries. The onsite shop sells all sorts inc alcohol, the toilet block was cramped and the shower was small.

Lovely site; fantastic views; pick your own pitch; reasonably priced. Showers looked grim but were actually very good - loads of hot water and power!
Weather wasn't the best but really enjoyed a 3 day stay.
Friendly owners; good shop on site. Taxi from site to town very good value.
Went on the 3 island tour - Mull; Staff and Iona. Best value ever! £45 per person which sounds steep but that includes a coach trip across Mull and our driver knew so much about Mull it was unbelievable; a trip to Staffa and Fingal's Cave which is stunning and Iona - the ancient holy island. Weather was awful on the day we went but it was still a fantastic day out.
Oban has lots of pubs; places to eat and shops.
You can fish from the docks - caught mackeral.
If we went back to this area I would definitely be happy to stay on this site again and would recommend it to all.

Fantastic for views and a quiet and peaceful site. Facilities, as in other reviews, a bit limited, but I believe there are plans afoot to upgrade before the 2009 season. We stayed in the lower field with great views of the sea and a jetty where my son could go fishing.
Oban is great and we went out for a three hour fishing trip on a boat - available at the North pier. Try the fish and chips in Oban - best I ever had !
