First visit, all grass pitches, 16amp ehu unfortunately our pitch had a shared ehu with the next door pod, pitch fairly level only slight adjustment required, some pitches were not so level. Facilities recently upgraded 2 wash basins 2 WC 1 shower, separate ladies and gents, no shaver point in gents, no hairdryer in ladies. A pot wash is planned.
Chemical toilet disposal and grey waste disposal adjacent to the toilet block, so for some pitches a long trek.
Owners friendly and welcoming with plenty of info about surrounding area.
The cliffs are approx. 5/10 mins walk, plenty of bird life.
Site is well situated for the local area. The narrow lane approaching the site has some passing places.
Overall site is ideal for bird watching and walking, we had an enjoyable stay and would definitely revisit.
Second time here and a lovely, quiet site with a short walk to the cliff top path. Come at the right time and you can see Puffins nesting on the cliffs.
Small but clean toilet and shower block, my only criticism is no hooks inside the shower to hang clothes etc and you have to be outside the shower to put money in. Be aware at busy times, water flow to the shower may be slow or interrupted, but would still visit again.
Just back from my second stay at Wolds Farm and still love it. It's a small, quiet, tucked away site on a working farm, but what a retreat from the hurly burly of life. The toilets and showers (just a quid) are kept clean, the pitches are kept mown, to say the site is tidy is an understatement and the owners are so friendly, I'll be going back again.
Owners, Pat and Steve were very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
Quiet site with amazing views.
New, modern toilet/shower block, cleaned regularly, £1. 00 for a 6 min shower - plenty of time. Unfortunately during our stay the ladies shower wasn't working properly - water only trickled out and temperature couldn't be moderated.
Plenty of space for children to play but no play facilities.
One mile off road track from Bempton Lane leading to site entrance which was a bit rough going when towing the caravan and messy to walk on in the wet but the views are definitely worth the effort.
We stayed over the Bank Holiday and the site was pretty full. This caused the EHU to switch off on a fair few occasions but in fairness Steve was always quick to come and rectify the problem.
Site ideally located for cliff top walks, bus ride/drive to other coastal towns. Approx 20-30 minute walk to Flamborough village which has a couple of lovely pubs, chip shops, Post Office and a Co-Op. Definitely recommend The Ship for great value pub food and beer and The Seabirds Restaurant serving quality food.
IMPORTANT - THERE IS NO SIGN FOR WOLD FARM C&C ON THE ROAD/TRACK! IF IT IS YOUR FIRST VISIT, CHECK THE SITE WEBSITE AND TAKE NOTE OF LOCATION OF SITE BEFORE STARTING YOUR JOURNEY- DO NOT CONFUSE WITH ENTRANCE TO THE GRANGE CARAVAN SITE.
We have just returned from this beautiful site and booked again immediately for next month!
Very helpful, friendly owners. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Seemed to understand we just wanted peace and quiet. Always around if you needed help but never intrusive, which is just what we wanted.
Out in the country fairly near a cliff top with lovely walks towards Bempton RSPB and Thornwick Bay. Beautiful North Landing Bay very near, where they are currently filming the new, 'Dad's Army', film.
Campsite not difficult to find; just follow directions given, carefully.
Toilet block looked very nice and clean, although did not use. Usual chemical disposal, grey water disposal, drinking water point and electric hook-up available. No need for hard-standing.
Wonderful views of the cliffs, the sea and both lighthouses.
Wold Farm is set in a lovely area overlooking Flamborough, from our site we could see the sea and cliffs.
The toilet block was kept clean and tidy and was adequate for what we needed, with separate toilets and shower for male and female. Perhaps the only downside is the lack of washing up facilities for those in tents.
There are plenty of shops and activities for everyone in the nearby town of Bridlington, 4 miles away and the surrounding villages, Flamborough being just down the road. But if you want somewhere peaceful to stay with a beautiful view this is the place.
What a lovely site. Happy to recommend it. The new toilet block is small but clean and adequate for the site. The owners were incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble and as we were there as the tail end of a hurricane came through, they had lots of requests for help. The views were spectacular from this quiet site and an easy, well signposted walk gets you access to the cliff top walk with views of Puffins.
This is a cliff top site so expect to take windbreaks. It also has no playground for younger children but they do get a lot of space to run around in and all the kids that were there with us made lots of new friends and had great fun.
We stayed for 2 nights, after going to the Dalby starfest, the views of the sea were very nice, the campsite was well suited to the tent camper with a choice of EHU or non EHU.
I have to say this was a rather peaceful campsite and made for a relaxing stay, the toilet and shower were kept clean and tidy, be aware it can be a little tricky to find as its a fair way up a gravel track. Its a very good location for people that like wildlife, especially sea birds. There is not much for children to do and a pot washing facility would be handy
Large open field with sea views on a working farm accessible from a long uneven dirt track. Clean basic toilet block with showers and fantastic looking pods (had a peek in an empty one). The kids had great fun running around and playing on bales of straw in the field and watching the sheep being herded past the site. Access through fields to great cliff walks and a 30 min walk with kids 6&9 to Thornwick bay. Great rural, quiet location and close enough to reach civilisation by bike or car.
Very friendly owners, amazing views, plenty of space for tents, clean toilets, relaxed atmosphere.
The directions on the website are very helpful as otherwise it might be tricky to find!
We went for 2 lovely walks along the cliffs (towards RSPB and then a circular route towards lighthouse then back into village), drove to Bridlington to play on the beach, visited the model village. Was a bit concerned that the pubs might be too far away to walk back after a meal but managed this fine with two children (age 6 and 9)(we went to Rose & Crown, small friendly pub, very busy at it was bank holiday but they squeezed us in and the food was good standard pub fare!)
(nb have given child friendliness 8/10, there is nothing specific for the children to do but lots of safe space to explore, sheep to watch and our kids had a great time!)
We have just returned from a two night break at this site.
Its one of the best sites we have stayed on for a good while.
The toilets are brand new and spotlessly clean, the showers are £1 for six minutes, ample long enough and hot too.
The grass is well kept and there are ample water points around the field.
We opted for a non-electric pitch as our trailer tent is 12v powered. [from our car battery]
The view is superb, looking out over sea and North Landing.
Whilst there we took a walk up to RSPB Visitor Centre and were lucky enough to see the Puffins beore they 'migrated'.
We also spent a day in Bridlington and an afternoon in Filey.
WE spent one of the nights stargazing, watching the 'Perseus Meteor Shower' [which occurs late July/earlyAugust. Google it]. It was very impressive.
It is fairly easy to miss the entrance to the site [which involves driving down a single track dirt road] because it seems that the owners don't own the land where the sign needs to be, and there is a 'conflicting' sign advertising ANOTHER different camp site where the sign shoud be. If it had not been for a lady in the car in front of us actually stopping and asking if we were looking for 'Wolds Farm' we would maybe have had trouble finding it [I was begining if our sat nav was correct]. Btw, heres a thank you to that lady if youre reading this.
I usually give a high score to sites on here, because to be honest, we never seem to find ourselves on a poor or indifferent site, but if I could give this site an eleven out of ten I would do so.
Wold Farm is a nice simple Site, 2 fields with EHU down one edge, a new amenities block with 2 toilets & 1 shower each side (although I didn't look in the ladies)! There are grey water and separate Chemical disposal points, and a number of fresh water taps around the fields. There are no separate child play areas, swings, pools etc, although while I was there it was the 'big kids' (young adults with toddlers) kicking footballs into tents :-( The same adults went silent at the 22:00 noise curfew so presumably had tired themselves out, leaving the sound of distance waves, gentle baas of sheep (it's a working farm) and the flash of the distant lighthouse strobing the Site. It's a short walk from the famous Cliffs and the Puffins and the very friendly owners will point out the way. All together a superb 5 days away :-)
We have visited this site twice in May to see the puffins and other seabirds along Bempton Cliffs.
The site is a simple and friendly farm site with a (new) small toilet block. Pitches are all grass but it appears well-drained. Being over half a mile from a fairly minor road, it is also delightfully quiet. It's best feature, however, is the private footpath to Bempton Cliffs and the RSPB reserve where the tens of thousands of nesting seabirds provide a spectacular site in spring.
There are good walks from the site along the cliffs and also into Flamborough and around Flamborough Head. A short drive will bring you to Bridlington or Scarborough.
Date of visit:- 23/5/14 to 27/5/14. Touring caravan, 2 adults.
Booking was by telephone direct to the owners, no deposit taken even though it was Bank Holiday and electric hook up requested.
Wold Farm is located at the end of a 3/4 mile un made track with NO passing places so make sure you adhere to the 'leave before 12 noon and no arrivals before 2pm ' and you should be ok. It is NOT sign posted at the road end so make sure you have got your directions.
Upon arrival we checked in at the reception( porch to farm house) and were then shown to our pitch. We drove past the new toilet / shower block down the field past various tents, motor homes, log 'camping pods' and touring caravans. Our pitch was against a low wire sheep fence which runs along the private track to the coastal path. We had to use one levelling block on the off side due to the slight slope. We we located in Puffin Meadow. Our pitch should have had a view of Flamborough lighthouse but after setting up the van I realised that a large tent on the opposite side of the field obscured our view slightly but not a major issue. We could still see and hear the sea and saw the light flashing at night. The tent left on Monday night so we sat and watched the lighthouse flashing until we both fell asleep. Electric point was approx 6 feet from our van and did not 'trip' so must have been a large Amp supply. ( technical term?)
Drinking water from tap hung on fence at top of field, approx 50 feet away. Was a bit of a struggle filling the 51 litre water hog as there was no drain just an open hole in the soil( looked a project yet to be completed) but there was another tap further up towards the farm and another on the side of the new toilet/ shower block. Chemical toilet disposal was a bit of a let down as it involved removing the lid from the under ground waste tank and then being careful not to get splashed as you emptied the waste via a 9' clay pipe protruding from the ground. Water supply adjacent for rinsing out toilet tanks but would have been better to have a purpose built waste disposal unit/ elsan point etc. As you also had to empty grey waste into the same tank and some people were not so careful which was evident by spilled contents on grass around clay pipe.
New toilets / showers - only two toilets and one shower per male and female. Didn't use the showers but saw queues forming. There was no facilities for campers to wash pots and pans some washed up in the wash basins which resulted on water/ debris around basins and work surfaces. There was still work on going around the exterior of the block, painting and new grass being laid so not sure if pot washing facilities are to be installed. ( didn't ask ) There was heavy rain for some of our stay so mud/ grass was walked into the block. ( well it is located in a field so is expected)
The Coastal Path is approx 10 mins walk down a private track, across an adjacent field. Easy access to Flamborough, RSPB Bempton and Thornwick Bay. Great photographic opportunities and fantastic views across the open fields and Cliff tops.
No dedicated play area for kids so can get a bit noisy when playing football etc near to vans.
The owners are very friendly and helpful.
The location has to be the best in the area. Very quiet, no road noise etc just wind, waves, sheep and birds.
Would recommend this site and are going to book again very soon.
We stayed as a late booking on the bank holiday for one night, and phoned ahead to be told that there would be space.
We had a choice of no-electric pitches and stayed in Puffin field.
Although we had been advised that the proposed new shower block wasn't finished, on arrival it was all up an running so everthing was as new a good value at £1 for 6mins.
Really friendly and relatively inexpensive compared to other site (£15 for the pitch on BH w/e inc 2 people then £3 each per child).
Really close to Flamborough village and the Head for bird watching.
The site was really quiet (so long as you fine with sheep baas!) and although the lighthouse light shone all night it was no issue.
We had a BBQ, and campsite are fine so long as they are off the grass.
No play facilities for kids, but with the field and local facilities that wasn't a problem.
We would come back and recommend to friends.
