Long w/end at end of June to try out campervan. Reasonably level, well maintained site; 2 clean toilets w/basins. Didn't have to queue - might be a problem if site is full. Owners very friendly. Why do campers feel the need to wash pots etc in the toilet? just take the hot water back to the pitch and wash up there - shorter queues for all. A hot tap on outside wall would help.
Owner has cut a nice path to cliff tops and told us where to view the puffins. Easy walks to Bempton; Thornwick and North Landing. Viking Inn had reasonable food at good prices; North Star Hotel was very good food.
Farm site with very friendly and helpful proprietors, in an excellent setting. The washroom/toilet facilities are very good and cleaned regularly and well. The village is not the most picturesque but there is all you need and most of what you want. Convenient for Flamboro Head and Bridlington but the jewel in the crown is after a pleasant walk to Bempton Cliffs. The seabirds there are awesome - you are in for a treat. Binocs and camera essential!
We only stayed one night due to picking the worst possible couple of nights to try our 'geriatric' trailer tent out. With torrential rain, wind and a cold fogy mist! The tent failed, but the site passed with flying colours, it was very good.
Facilities wise, There are very clean toilet facility with plentiful hot water, Drinking Water tap, Electric Hook up points, they will freeze your packs or charge your batteries free of charge. They also have two new pods which looked really cosy.
Wonderful people! Very unobtrusive but always seem to be easily found with a quick call to the house and ready to help.
We had problems with the old tent, broken door zip and then light problems when heading home, and were helped out by Steve, to get sorted out, for which we were very grateful. Her even rang that night to make sure me got home okay.
Take note of the very good directions given to find the site before travelling, as it is not visible from the road and the sign at the start of the single-track road leading to the site (which is not far off a mile long) has a sign for ‘Grange Farm camping’ So don’t think you found the wrong place.
Downside
No showers or wash up sink, so go prepared.
The style near the cliffs is a bit difficult for short leg
Upside
The whole site is well cared for, with views over to Flambrough head.
The owners are really helpful
The walks and views on the cliffs are wonderful, and only a short walk from the camping space.
Fire pits and disposable BBQ are allowed (within reason) bricks are kept to raise it of the ground so not to damage the field. Though I would ask before lighting anything more than a disposable BBQ.
It is long way from the road, so no road noise! also fenced, so quite child safe, with lots of space to play.
The sky is beautifully dark at night and great for star gazing
And finally, my own personal ‘thing’ Sun rise and sunsets! This place has both. Sunsets are good from the little picnic table a little way along the path. Sunrise is just a little further along the path, to where the ground rises, to get it rise over the sea.
All in all it is a great, small. Peaceful, friendly site. Which we will visit again …. With a different tent!
Just come back from a 2 night stay at this wonderful site! choice of 2 fields, and farmer and his wife a lovely couple who make time to speak to you and are very helpful indeed!
The weather wasn't great but that didn't spoil our stay, we had a walk over the fields to the cliff top, and the farmer encouraged our daughter to pet the lambs!
Had a brill day out at bridlington, and sewerby hall with all its animals a must!
Upgraded our 2nd night and stayed in 1 of 2 brand new wooden pods, the farmer nicely said he'd have it warmed up for us getting back from brid, and warm it was, didn't need a cover that night as it was so warm, made for a very pleasant break away,
Had a meal in a pub in flamborough called 'the rose and crown' all home made food (including the chips!) make sure your hungry the plates are huge!
A nice 10pm quiet time so you can have plenty of kip,
2 immaculate toilets, no showers or washing up point, but that didn't matter to us as we were self contained,
Will definitely be back to this site, as its stunning
We have just returned after four very pleasant days at Wold Farm. It was a little windy when we arrived and putting up the awning was not easy but the sun came out and the wind dropped.
There are shops in nearby in Flamborough Head and a good selection of local farm shops.
The owners were very friendly when you need help or information but weren't intrusive.
Although it rained during our stay the ground soon dried. There are two toilets which were very clean and the owners have recently installed electric hook-ups.
I left the curtains open at night to make the most of the panoramic sea views and the Flamborough Head Lighthouse in the distance. The path to the cliff tops give you the opportunity to see the puffins and other sea birds
If I had an observation rather, than criticism, the track to the farm is 3/4 of a mile long and I dread to think what would happen if you met another caravan on the way. Perhaps two or three strategically placed by-passes could be made in the event you meet another caravan coming towards you.
The final surprise was the very competitive price of £14.00 for the pitch and electricity.
Lovely site; a fairly level field where you can pitch wherever you wish. They were in the process of installing electric hook ups whilst we were there.
Two toilets with hot water, which were kept immaculately clean, but no showers.
The owners are very friendly and always had time for a chat.
We were entertained by the games and frolics of the lambs in the fields next to the camping field.
Very close to the cliffs where you can walk either to Bempton in one direction, or Flamborough along the cliff tops, with (if you're lucky) sightings of puffins. The coastline is superb and the walking easy.
We had a lovely, reasonably priced meal at the Rose and Crown in Flamborough, but make sure you are hungry - the portions are very generous.
It was just a short walk back from the pub to the camp site so ideal.
We could only stay a couple of nights but will definitely return to the site
What an absolute gem of a site! If you want a back to basics camping experience on a working farm then this is the site for you.
There are two fields, shared by caravans and tents, with no fixed pitches, both have sea views and are well maintained and drainage seems to be very good. After several days of hard rain they were not muddy.
The fields are surrounded by grazing fields full of sheep and lambs at the time we were there. There is very little between the sea and the camp site so it can be a bit windy at times, but we didn't experience any serious problems.
Facilities include two toilets, which were kept exceptionally clean, each with a wash basin with hot and cold water, a drinking water tap and and a toilet disposal point.
The farmer and his wife are very friendly and helpful, they gave us a warm welcome and were always happy to stop for a chat. When we managed to get a puncture, they happily gave us an electronic pump to inflate the tyre and even told to keep hold of it until we'd got it repaired.
The site has a path that leads directly to the cliff top walk that leads to Flamborough and beyond one way and Danes Dyke and Bempton in the other direction. Great if you enjoy a walk like us.
Flamborough and Bridlington are close by if travelling by car.
Brilliant if you like quiet, away from it all sites. We'll definitely be back!
The site is perfect to get away from the noise and tension of big sites. It is not suitable for people who want a club house and eatery on site, because there isn't one.
The site is clean and tidy and part of a working farm, so no need to take along an alarm clock.
The owner remembered me from last year. He was quite happy to spend time chatting with his guests.
I took an 11 and 13 year old with me and this year because they had such a good time last year they wanted to go back.
Another fabulous summer holiday! This was the second time we stayed at Wold Farm, no donkeys this time but an extra toilet!
Both toilets were always clean, we rarely had to queue and this time we used the kind offer of freezer space.
The farmer and his wife were really friendly and kept my kids well entertained as did the sheep! This is a lovely campsite although it does get very cold at night.
We hope to return here although maybe if we come a bit earlier in the summer, it might not be so cold and we could see the puffins in the nearby Bempton Bird Sanctuary.
This is a fantastic quiet certificated site in a great rural setting. The facilities are limited, there are toilets (well maintained) but there are no showers or EHUs. This was reflected in the price of £10 for 2 adults and a dog. The water tap and CDP are located in the upper field.
There are sea views towards the lighthouse and Bridlington from the upper field. From the lower field, there are limited sea views but the lighthouse is still visible. The camping area is obviously regularly mowed and surrounded by fields with sheep and donkeys in them.
There is a path leading directly from the site onto the cliff top walk. From there it is a short walk to the puffins burrows and Danes Dyke. It takes about 30 mins to walk to Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve (RSPB). There is a beach at North Landing (pebble beach) and South Landing and it's a good idea to check the tide times before going on the beach.
It takes about 10 mins to walk into Flamborough from the site. Flamborough has a good selection of pubs(4) and hotels, all seemed to serve food. If walking back from the pub at night, take a torch as the farm track is unlit. There is also a small Co-op supermarket and a Chinese takeaway.
Bridlington and Scarborough are both a short drive away if you fancy having busier day out. Watch out for seagulls trying to nick your chips! They are very fast!
All in all, this is a great site and we will be returning soon
Found this site 'by accident' whilst driving round looking for campsites earlier in the year. March 2011. Pat, was very welcoming and told us we could have a wander round and even take the coastal path for a walk, if we wished. It was rather cold, so didn't stay for too long.
We booked on the spur of the moment, end of June, for a 3 night weekend at the beginning of July, but ended up staying for 4 nights. We had glorious weather, although did get a fresh breeze mid afternoon, which could turn quite chilly.
The site is up a long track but this helps privacy - if not on site, no need to be up there! We were asked to keep to the edge of fields, otherwise could park up where we wanted.
Views were fabulous, and enjoyed watching all manner of wildlife. Dog was kept on lead at all times.
The site has 2 toilets with plenty of hot water for washes, which if busy could perhaps cause a bit of a wait. This didn't affect us being in caravan. There is also separate fresh drinking water tap and a separate septic tank for waste.
We didn't use any of the nearby pubs or restaurants having got 4 years old grandson with us for part of weekend. But did have a 'couple' at the pub in Nth Landing once he'd gone home.
As we know the surrounding areas quite well (been visiting Bridlington for at least 55 years on/off) didn't feel the need to go gallivanting round and got the rest which we were looking for.
Steve was busy shearing the sheep, of which he let grandson watch on occasion, but always had time for a chat and was very helpful about where to go for walks etc.
Because of lack of electric hook-ups we used gas. Unfortunately as this was the first time in 2 years found a few faults with fridge and water heater not working properly. Now got those fixed and have just made reservations for another long weekend towards the end of July.
I'm also sure as this site is open all year will be back for many months to come.
A lovely, peaceful little haven with plenty of wildlife.
We stayed at the Wold Farm camping site in July, it benefits from a stunning location looking over to Flamborough lighthouse, to get to the site you drive up their private mile long drive (we measured it in the car) it is situated about 400 meters from the stunning cliff edge, accessed by the farms private track.
If you turn right and continue to walk along the cliff edge for about 2 mile you come to a lovely bar (not sure what it’s called).
We arrived on the Tuesday and there was eight tents/camper vans in the two good sized fields and so we got a good position in the second field by the fence, we didn’t have any problem in finding a flat space, but, by the Friday it was so much busier
Wanting a bar meal on our first night we walked into Flamborough village only to find the pubs stop serving food at approx 8pm, we ended up having to get a take away pizza from ‘Ozzy’s’ which I have to say was the nicest spicy pizza I’ve had! We then went on to visit the local bars and I’m afraid I can only recommend the Rose and Crown, it’s a lovely cosy bar, the locals and owners were very friendly and dog friendly too.
The location is fantastic but it is very fairly exposed if the wind is blowing (extra tent pegs needed!) there is two toilets with sinks in and I think a shower (not sure on that one)
£5 per person is a great price I think, the cheapest we have ever paid for a campsite. Would I go again? no, simply because we enjoy a bit of a walk on an evening and the mile walk down the drive and the half mile walk into Flamborough was just a bit too much each night and their wasn’t really anywhere else to go.
The location is beautiful! Views over the countryside to the sea and lighthouse, next to the sheep and other animals about as it is a working farm. The children loved being so close to the animals and running around the spacious field.
The farmer and his family were so friendly and helpful.
Plenty of space to spread out with no extra costs for gazebos / porches / awnings.
Only £10 per night for up to 3 people.
Five min drive from thornwick bay, bempton cliffs and many other attractions.
The downside for me (with 3 young children) was that the facilities were very limited (but this is reflected in the low price). No shower or place to wash pots made some aspects of our camping trip a little tedious.
Their is another house on site (in addition to the farm house) and we were pitched next to this house (which is fenced off from the field) as it was close to the toilet block. Both saturday and sunday their was loud radio on from approx 8 / 9am to the end of the day playing from this garden (maybe the owners were doing work in the garden the weekend we were there). The noise really irritated me as I had picked this particular site especially for its peaceful location. To be on the safe side, go a bit further up the field.
However, the thing that spoilt our stay was the wind! The winds were so, so strong, even though it was a fairly bright, summers day, The tent was a nightmare to pitch and take down in such strong wind - it was very noisy at night, blowing all around and despite multiple layers of clothing and a good insulated tent - I was freezing cold! I suppose strong winds are to be expected on a cliff next to the north sea - although the farmer did say that the winds are not usually as bad as they were this particular weekend. As a result, we only stayed for 2 nights instead of the 3 nights we had planned.
Would I go again? The location is a huge plus, but for me and my family, we will only return if more facilities are made available (it would be worth paying that bit extra for) and if I have checked the forecast for winds in advance.
If you want to experience camping at its very best, a campsite in its early days and untouched by commercialism.you must come here. No one playing loud music, no late night party's no screaming drunks coming out of the on site club, nothing like that at all, the loudest thing you will here are the sheep, pigs, birds and donkeys and they all stop when it gets dark.
During the day, kids under 10 will have a field day. Teenagers, I'm sorry, if your not into good old fashion camping, the lovely rural countryside and what it brings you will hate it.
We have just returned from two nights stay at pat and steven's wold farm. We tried to get into other sites but with it being school holidays we had no chance.and I'm so glad i found this little gem.
Its a bit off the beaten track ( don't get it mixed up with the sign at the start of the track that says camp site this way bookings only. Ignore it and carry on for a further 1/2 mile ) but worth it when you get there.
If you want peace, quiet, good walks, wildlife and tranquillity. You've got it.
This site is very basic but very clean and tidy. On our arrival we were greeted by pat who was very chatty and friendly. She explained that they had only been up and running 3 years.
They only have 2 toilets in one block and no showers yet but to there credit they were seen to be cleaning them every couple of hours. I'm sure with a constant flow of campers, showers, electric hook ups and a little farm shop will all follow very quickly. Oh and the price. A tenner per unit per night.
This site benefits from a stunning location, right at the end of a long (and bumpy!) farm track at the top of the cliffs, just outside of the lovely little village of Flamborough.
There are some very good food pubs in Flamborough and also a newsagent for essentials (like the matches I forgot to pack, not too good when you have an irate husband wondering how he is going to light the stove for the bacon and eggs on Sunday morning).
There are 2 good sized fields, the bottom one is further from the farm buildings and hence is more peaceful. It is sloping in parts, especially on the bottom field and so it does takes a bit of doing to find the good flat spot for a family-sized tent.
The location is fantastic but it is also fairly exposed if the wind is blowing, so choose where you are going to have your cooking facilities carefully and go in the top field if you want more sheltered conditions.
This is a lovely rural, back to nature uncrowded site so don't expect there to be a lot of facilities - you get one combined toilet and small washbasin with hot water. Expect to have to queue in the busy holiday months, but we didn't find this to be a huge problem.
Don't worry about not having a shower, just pay a visit to the excellent waterpark in Bridlington, with its slides and waves. Great for kids and there was also a normal pool for those who want to have a proper swim. You can walk straight from the site along a footpath to join up with the coastal footpath - wonderful views to be had so well worth the effort.
The owner was friendly and we had a lovely time on this site for 4 days in the summer holidays. I had left it late to book but the owner was helpful and got us booked in with no problems.
It was a reasonable price, some might think it expensive to say how limited the facilities are, but you are paying for the location, this has got to be one of the best on the Yorkshire coast.
