My first stay here but it came well recommended due to its location (6 miles to Plymouth), its cost (cheap) and the excellent pub! The owners are really nice and the warden (Matt) very helpful.
The 'reserved electric hookup' field is by far the nicest area as the other areas seem to have long term residents who appear to be working near by so their vans were tatty and pitched closely together - not that this made any difference to our stay.
The warden very kindly allowed some friends to pitch nice and close to us even though they had not booked. The local pub (The Foxhound Inn) is fabulous but its worth reserving a table on Fri and Sat evenings.
My only critisism is that the washing/toilet/shower facilities are are very, very basic and could do with being completely refurbished.

Site staff were very welcoming and helpful even though we arrived late.
The site has basic but adequate facilities for a short stay.
The chemical waste is found under a hinged manhole lid infront of WC block :o)
The electric hook-up at the rear of the toilet block was a bit difficult to access and had broken mirror glass littered about which was a bit hazardous - could do with a Spring clean.

August 2005 I visited this site this year with my family and found it very pleasant. Though not ideally a family site, no play area or attractions, it was peaceful and very well kept.
The facilities are basic but sufficient. It is an ideal base for getting around the South West, we travelled far and wide from here. Everyone we met on site had a pleasant word for the owner.
The warden on site was very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Don't expect too much here, it's basic, but the owner and warden are very friendly and accomodating.

This was our second visit to Venn farm, and as before it was very enjoyable. The facilities are extremely adequate and always cleaned daily. Staff are very friendly and helpful. We found a leaflet that had been made by the village residents detailing different walks around Brixton, it was a very helpful guide to some superb walks. The pub is just a 3 minute walk away and serves lovely food, and also welcomes dogs, which is always a plus for us. We will be visiting again next year

August 2004 Small quiet friendly site. We stayed there on a night of thunderous rain and lightning, which would challenge even the most well drained site, and we managed to stay dry in our tent. Reasonable rates. No fancy extras, but all you need as a base for your holiday. Electric hookup. Small clean showerblock and loos. Fridge and freezer facilities. Within easy walking distance of Brixton village centre. V. handy for visiting Plymouth, being about 10/15 mins drive into city centre.
Will visit again.

May/June 2004 The site was quiet and well maintained in a pleasant rural setting and a convenient location. The basic facilities are a little too basic especially considering the number of 20p's needed for a shower! The site owner is very pleasant and helpful, and we enjoyed our visit.
