Just spent a week at this site with the family and it was perfect, I cant really say anything bad about this site.
The Park has only a small road and a small car park between you and the beach - its perfect for the family to get to the beach, no driving and parking, just a quick 3 min walk.
The beach is very nice, sandy and clean with plenty of rock pools and it is lifeguard active.
Handy shop just outside the park open 7am to 10pm daily for those emergencies or there is a Morrisons about 5 min drive into Newquay or a Tesco Express.
The bay also has a pub a cafe and a surf shop.
The site is very large with large pitches.
Toilet/shower block is very clean and tidy with plenty of hot water.
Childrens park is just behind the shower block and is sand floored with swings / slide and climbing frame.
The grass is well maintained and the park also has hard standing pitches.
The site is set within a valley and surrounded by rolling hills and of course the beach to the front and so it a lovely place to relax and unwind.
The rolling hills however make poor TV reception for cheap/Standard aerials. The Digital TV website states that no signal is available for this area but we managed to get a good signal but we do have a pricey aerial, our neighbours had problems with there aerial and most people seemed to struggle with getting a signal, the park does offer a pitch with a TV socket but it's an additional 4 pound a night.
The other down side would be the early checkout time of 10am, a struggle for us with a 15 month old but we left at 10:30 and weren't told off for it (maybe strict at busy times)
This is a great site and well worth a stay if on holiday here, one of the only sites I could see in Newquay that was on the beach and had no same sex groups - just families
We have just had a long weekend here and although it was 'out of season' the site was busy with a Caravan Club rally.
Quick, friendly booking in on arrival - although we hadn't even booked. You even get given a black sack for all your rubbish.
Choice of large grass or hardstanding pitches (difference in price) all with EHU and some with water, waste and TV hook up.
The large central toilet block is spotless. Plenty of showers, toilets and privacy cubicles with sinks. There's also a disabled toilet and shower and a baby bath housed within the ladies section. Piped music keeps you entertained whilst you're tending to your needs!
The site itself is large and well tended with plenty of water points and bins spread around the site. There is no digital signal in the 'valley' unless you have a pitch with TV hook up. Recycling is available outside the toilet block.
A short walk (5 mins max) takes you directly to Porth Beach, a gorgeous safe sandy beach (dog owners beware of the dog ban between Easter and October). To the left of the beach is Porth Stores (open 7am - 10pm everyday) for any essentials you may need including daily newspapers. The Mermaid Inn is the pub that sits right on the beach. Good pub grub, 2 bars and an outside patio area, dogs are allowed inside (and out) on leads and it's very family friendly.
The walk into Newquay along the coastal path is easy and pleasant - so leave the car / camper behind!
A lovely quiet site out of season but we'd imagine that at the height of the summer it would be packed!
We found this campsite whilst staying at another one locally during August and decided to visit in October. We had an absolutely brilliant weekend at Porth, the weather was fantastic for the time of year. I cannot fault this campsite, it was pretty empty when we were there and I can imagine in peak season it would be pretty busy. However, the facilities are spotless, the toilets were always clean and were warm. The showers were excellent and again always clean. It's proximity to Porth Beach is an amazing bonus, our children spent most of the weekend on the beach and loved surfing there. The pitches are spacious and well laid out. We love the place so much that we are returning in May and plan to return many more times.
We went to Porth Beach before we upgrading to the caravan, I can highly reccomend this site it is great.
The site is situated directly on Porth Beach. Porth Beach is great for young children, it has a little stream where kids will play for hours (i know I did as a child)and rock pools galore. The beach has RNLI lifeguard throughout the season. The sites shower and toilet blocks are spotless, to this day I have never experiened any that have been cleaner - they really spoil you - even have piped music while you are on the loo or shower! The blocks also have electic plug sockets (free) where you can plug in your hair dryer or straightners. There is also a dish washing area and a laundry. The children's play area looked good fun!
Pitches are of a good size. The site is for familys and couples only and has a no noise policy after a certian time. There is also a security guard on the camp site entrance at night so there are no unwelcome visitors.
The pub across the road (The Mermaid) serves food which is really nice and a good price too. They have a family lounge that provides entertainment in the summer - look out for 'Just Arthur' who is a singer/comedian - he is really good and will make you laugh out loud! The town of Newquay is a short drive away (5/10 mins), visit the harbour where you can feed the seals! Watergate Bay is also about 5/10 mins away, here you can watch some great surfing, take a walk along the beach or visit Jamie Olivers 'Fifteen' resturant.
You will NOT be dissapointed with this site, the location is the best that you will get in Cornwall and the cleanliness of the facilities is second to none.
I've been back for a second time to this campsite and loved it again.
The site is quiet and yet it is based just over the road from the beach.
I had a week there this time with my partner, her 17 year old daughter and her friend. The ladies loved the toilet block facilities, always clean, well maintained, warm, and fluted music throughout.
Locally: it's great to pop over the road in the evening and catch a bit of surf as the sun goes down. The bistro at the front of the campsite is worth the money for great food and wine. The walk on the headland past the pitch and putt golf is well worth a visit and provides great views to the beaches of Newquay and Watergate Bay. I avoid Newquay like the plague but Watergate Bay is great for body-boarding with a nice bar and restaurant and don't forget to visit the cliff top at Bedruthan Steps on the way to or from Padstow.
We had 2 tents, pitched on perfect soil as it was easy to get the pegs in and then they didn't move all week.
The whole site has a family atmosphere and well worth a visit for families and couples.
With sea and countryside views, Tregarton Park is ideal for couples or families with younger children, given its relaxed seclusion and proximity to so many of Cornwall's fine safe sandy beaches. Large grass and hardstanding pitches with electric, divided by hedging and shrubs, perfect for tents and tourers. No statics! Superb toilet and shower block with large glass shower cubicles operated by motion sensors with ceiling mounted shower heads, laundry room, baby changing station.
This peaceful park is home to an outdoor heated swimming pool with waiter service, tennis court, adventure playground, outdoor football table, table tennis, pool table, large shop and take away service. FREE WiFi, dog walking meadow. Pentewan Beach is just five minutes away! Find out more here
Stayed on this site for 8 nights mid-June and we were not disappointed.
The site itself is flat and is situated a stone's throw away from Porth beach, the pitches are flat and offer ample space. The shower facilities were great with plenty of shower and toilet cubicles and also three separate wash rooms.
The best thing about this site is it's location, it is situated about 5 minutes drive from the centre of Newquay (good bus servive just outside the site entrance) and in the opposite direction is Watergate Bay and Morgan Porth which offer breathtaking views of the beach and coastline.
As previously mentioned the beach is juct across the road from the site entrance there is also a well stocked shop just outside the site and Morrisons supermarket about 4 miles away. Also across the road is a pub where we ate once and the food was excellent, also recommend the chip shop at Morgan Porth.
In summary this site is amazing and we will be visiting again in the future.
The car park entrance to this site is not the prettiest but there is a little oasis beyond. It is a relaxed site and the staff were very discrete but available if needed. The pitches are a decent size and everyone is asked to pitch to the left and park to the right. They were immaculately maintained. There is a hedge down one side and a small river running around the rest with a footpath.
The facilities were fantastic and very clean. There was a laundry to the front with washers (£3.40 each), dryers (£1 for 15 mins) and free irons. The toilets were to the rear with plenty of sinks, toilets, and showers. There are several family size showers. There was also a baby wash station in the ladies. Although there was no soap, there were 2 'all-in-one' soap/water/dryer stations. Local radio was piped into the toilet and laundry areas. There is a small play area set behind recycling bins. Security patrolled the site at night.
Porth Beach is across the road and fantastic for the children, as are most beaches in Newquay. It is a half hour walk along the coast path into town. As a previous reviewer wrote, the Mermaid Pub across the road serves lovely food and we too found it better value than the Fort in town. I would also recommend the bar in the Watergate Hotel (at Watergate Bay up the coast) - the views from the terrace are spectacular, especially at sunset. We visited St Ives, Padstow and also came across St Just in Roseland near St Mawes. It has the prettiest church in the most beautiful setting and well worth the trip - even if you're not religious.
You have to vacate your pitch by 10 am. We were able to leave our car and trailer in the carpark as long as we were displaying our campsite sticker, otherwise it would have been £6 for the day.
Top tip! Don't leave any food out, even if it is wrapped up. The seagulls will get into anything!
I stayed here for 3 nights with my Fiancée. We were impressed with all aspects of the site- it felt safe, secure and was clean. The toilet / shower block was clean & pleasant, showers very good, although no soap at the sinks.
The location of this site is superb, literally across the road from the beach. Newquay was a 10 minute drive, Eden project about 1/2 hour away, St Ives about 3/4 hour.
The site was able to rent me ice packs for cool box, and retail LPG for cooking. Although there is no shop on site (other than 2 can drink machines) a well stocked newsagent has recently opened just outside the entrance to the campsite.
We ate at the pub opposite the site on our final evening, and the food was better than I'd expected, and better than a pub meal eaten in Newquay previously!
I would stay at this site if camping in the Newquay region again, and would happily recommend it to others.
I camped for one night at Porth Beach on a backpacking trip, and was very happy with my experience. The receptionist thoughtfully located me close to the shower block but away from families with children (I had been walking all day!) without being asked, which was much appreciated.
The toilets and showers are excellent, and there is also a well organised launderette. I was particularly grateful for the tumble dryers, as keeping clothes properly dry had proved quite difficult while on the move. A visiting van in the mornings sells bread, milk and a few other essentials near the shower block.
There are a pub and restaurant near the camp entrance, but I didn't see an on-site shop. I did experience some traffic noise, but the nearby Newquay airport was quiet overnight.
Overall, this was a nice site and I can recommend it to other campers.
Quiet well located site. As a 2 man tent we had a small corner pitch but it was large enough for us. As someone who likes her sleep I was really glad of the 'no groups' policy. I've spent enough nights in tents hearing large drunk groups shouting at each other and laughing at 1am to be glad of a break from them. Campsite very quiet from 11-7ish and slept well. Showers hot. The pub over the road has reasonably priced food and good beer and a nice beer garden by the beach. It's a long walk to swim in the sea as shallow beach but we had fun bodyboarding at low tide and there are some good rock pools.
