Stayed here for 1 week, after a week I got very bored.The pitches seem to be small, you got the feeling of being closed in. Plenty of water taps scattered about. The toilet/shower block was well kept & very clean & the showers were free. There was 3 washers, £3, but did a good wash, 2 dryers at 20p a time & 2 ironing boards/irons which were free. At the entrance of the camp is a huge car park which belongs to the camp & there you will find the shop, not too bad, doesn't sell frozen oven chips? Next door to that is a cafe/takeaway, nothing to shout about. If you are wanting pizza, burgers, curry/kebabs or chinese, forget it, there isn't even a fish 'n' chip shop. The nearest I got to a real takeaway was about 3/4 mile away which was a chinese, very good & not expensive. The camp has a play park with 2 swings, 2 toddler swings & a climbing frame, if you don't see the sign for it you would miss it, it is very small & hidden by thick bushes & trees. The camp allows ball games but where I don't know, there is no space unless a caravan pulls off its pitch. The camp also allows dogs, but there is no dog walk area & your not allowed to exercise your dog on camp, walk out of the camp onto the big car park & there are signs telling you not to exercise your dog here, walk out of car park to a big beach, yes you've guessed it, no dogs allowed. My poor dog had his legs crossed for ever. The park warden is always in & out of camp watching for someone who is breaking the rules, he was a very strict guy. Now the beach was brilliant & well watched over by the life guard. There are a few coves to choose from in the immediate area, but I would say that Porth Beach is the safest & best, especially if you have toddlers. After all of this we did enjoy it, but will not be going back to this campsite.
We stayed here for 2 weeks during July. Really enjoyed the stay at the campsite. - Toilet blocks are of an excellent standard, with ample supplies of hot water and even piped music.nice! - The pitches are well laid out and the site never felt overcrowded as so many others do - I found the park to be good value for money and will definitely return.
In addition, Porth Beach is very well located - surrounded by stunning coastline and has a very good beach accross the road. There is a frequent bus service into both Newquay and Padstow from the site.
Good location, Porth Beach has a good, spacious pub, well stocked Mini Mart, nice beach and frequent buses to Newquay. The facilities at the campsite are excellent and I heard a few remarks that they were better than home!
The trout stream doesnt seem to have any trout in it
We have been to this site for the last 2 years and have booked already for next. The facilities are excellent and the site is ideal for families with just a short walk to a lovely clean beach, local pub or shop. There are regular buses into Newquay, or local walks along the cliffs. This site has lots to offer and we would not hesitate in recommending it.
We enjoyed a fantastic Spring Bank Holiday week here. Wonderfully green grass pitches - we were right at the end of the site. Very quiet and peaceful. Excellent facilities, lovely beach,easy access to Newquay - and we were blessed with brilliant weather(which always helps!). Will come again!
Set within four acres of woodland with spectacular countryside views, this site offers the perfect caravanning and camping experience for all ages. Grass or hardstanding pitches with optional electric. Plenty of space for the kids to play football or fly a kite while you sit back and relax. Facilities include toilets, free hot showers, baby washroom, ice pack freezing, dishwashing area, laundry and free WiFi. Secure dog run for four-legged friends, and campfires are allowed.
Shops, takeaway, pubs, post office, and a dispensing surgery are all in the village of St. Stephen. Just a short journey in the car, you are at some of Cornwall's best treasures, including the Eden Project. Four miles from St. Austell and 12 miles from the wide sweeping beaches of the north coast. We stayed here at Easter. This is one of the best sites we have stayed on the staff are friendly and the pitches are very well laid out, but the best thing about this site is the state of the art shower/toilet block they were in my opinion five star and cleaned very frequently. Ten shower cubicles in each male and female toilets and there were loads of sinks .There is no club or pool but there is a bistro and a pub just outside the camp and over the road there is one of the best beaches Cornwall has to offer.
There is a fire break between the pitches so if you want to put up an annexe on your awning you will have to ask the staff for a suitable pitch.
As you are in a valley the tv reception was quite poor so you will need loads of DVDs or an aerial on a pole.
All in all I cant recommend this site enough if you want peace and relaxation on a family holiday then this is for you.
July 2005 A pleasant site situated 200 meters from the beach. Booking in was a simple enough procedure handled by pleasant staff. Our pitch was by the river, which had wooden benches for guests to view or supervise children fishing. The site was a combination of grass and hardstandings. The toilet block was large,spotless clean and sufficient toilet and shower cubicles for the busiest of days. A laundry & dishwashing facilities were also clean. Opposite the site entrance is a bus stop for Newquay or Padstow. We chose the 35 minute cliff top walk into Newquay. A mini-market close to the site entrance provides newspapers and foodstuffs and next door a cafe provides take-away service or a sit down snack, we purchased hot pasties from the oven. There is a pub nearby (which was rather full)and there are pleasant walks from the site. We had a very pleasant stay, my only critical comment would be the pitches are rather close to one another and therefore noisy alhough this curtailed at midnight. It seemed very popular with tents and caravans during our stay.
April 2005 After an enjoyable Bank Holiday at Porth last year, my Husband and I booked this campsite again and brought our tent. As there is a Mini rally to Newquay every May Bank holiday we took our Mini (and less camping gear) and met up with some old friends who were travelling too.
After driving 300 miles from Derbyshire I was informed by the extremely rude staff that we weren't allowed to camp because we knew other people on the site!!!
At first they suggested that we could not enter or leave the park or have a conversation in a group of more than 5 people (This isn't a joke!!)
Wait for this. Someone with mobility problems, travelling with his wife, 2 children and parents were told the parents could not stay as this constituted a group! The battle-axe later apologised but too late as they ad already camped elsewhere.
We were told by a very rude woman that even if we had pitched and we had been 'caught' talking to other people we would have been thrown out! (they patrol the park looking for people in groups (her words not mine).
August 2004 I've been going to this campsite for years now, and have dragged various family members, friends etc along too. Fantastic site, best loos and showers I have come across, friendly staff, dog friendly (which is essential for us), and all within easy walking distance of beautiful beaches, and more importantly Newquay for it's nightlife and atmosphere. Well recommended, even if the weather's pants which is was on both visits this year. Book early to avoid disappointment - seriously you wont get in on a whim in the summer!

August 2003 We arrived at this site on the hope of being allocated a pitch. Our booked pitch was in Looe, but the camp site there was a total disappointment. Rather than leave Cornwall after only one nights stay, we decided to seek an alternative site in Porth, Newquay. Although Porth Tourist site was fully booked, we managed to get a pitch, due to a cancellation.
The site was lovely. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Each tent and caravan had to have a certain amount of space between its neighbour for safety reasons. This gave us a feeling of privacy and space.
The toilets and showers were cleaned three times each day and well maintained. There were seperate washing blocks if you wanted a body wash or had young children to wash. A baby bath with shower was also present. Each sink/basin had a cloth with it so the puplic could wipe it after use.
There was a river running through the site and our son enjoyed fishing in it. Across the raod was the beautiful beach with its little river and water pools. Our daughter spent endless hours in her dingy and rubber ring, whilst we looked on.
Across the road, next to the beach, was a nice pub if you wanted to go out. We also enjoyed the lovely walks across the cliffs.Another pleasure we exprienced was the evening visit of wild rabbits. It was lovely to watch them playing, very relaxing.
The site was spotless, quiet at night and gave you a feeling of security. A great place for families with children of various ages. We felt our children were safe.
