We stayed at church house farm for 2 days of the Whitsun bank holiday. What a lovely site, one of the best CS sites we have been to, the toilet facilities were immaculate, the pitches spacious, open spaces for the kids to play, good walks off for the dogs, friendly owners and even a little washing up area. There were some lovely touches around too, little things that make a difference like solar lights to illuminate the way to the loo block, hand towels and nice hand soap in the bathrooms, and a compost bin for vegetable waste (why don't more campsites do this?).
The price was very reasonable at £16 for 5 of us including electric, the basic electric pitch and up to two people is a very reasonable £12. 50 per night which is worth every penny. The site is in an excellent location, just 3 miles from Llandrindod wells where there is a tesco, Aldi, co op and various other shops. About 9 miles from beautiful Builth wells and 10 miles from the fantastic elan valley. We wish we could have stayed for longer but had booked on to another site further west.
You can walk from the site down to the river or walk in to the village where there is a petrol station, post office and bikers cafe, you could walk into Llandrindod but there is no path so you would have to walk on the road. We definitely would not hesitate in booking again. We spent a whole day at the elan valley with the kids and the dogs and can highly recommend.
If your after a nice little site in mid Wales this is definitely worth a visit.
An excellent site this. Friendly owners, clean facilities and all the extras such as fridge/freezer, kettles, books, loo rolls and towels. I wouldn't say that Llandrindod is the centre of the universe but for a quite break away from it all, this site ticks all my boxes. We shall certainly visit again. Just be aware that the site doesn't (at the time of writing) accept credit cards for payment. A small detail but bare it in mind.
Booked last minute for a weekend, owner very helpful. Had a choice of pitches when we arrived. Very clean toilet/shower block. Plenty of space around each pitch. Room with a fridge/freezer for guest to use, also a kettle which was great when I got up early and did not want to set the cooker up to boil water. The washing up sinks where in this room as well. There was also a good selection of books to read. You could either swap with one of your own or leave £1, which is very good value.
Lovely river near by, which you are able to fish if you have a permit.
Cannot speak highly enough of this campsite. Great location from which to explore glorious Mid-Wales, all facilities (toilets, showers, utilities etc) immaculate and a really friendly, laid back approach from the owners. We were made to feel most welcome from the minute we arrived to departure. Our little four year old boy had all the space he needed to run around and we felt secure in letting him go. A really great short break and we'll definitely be returning! Kirsty, Mark & Ben, Lichfield.
There isn't much going on in Llandrindod, but was the perfect stop off point on our way to Cardiff. We stopped on our way back up too and visited the stunning Elan Valley nearby.
This is a proper working farm, but the camping areas are immaculate. The showers and toilets were nicer than at home and we were very impressed.
Also, there is a fridge freezer provided, which is very thoughtful; it meant we were able to refreeze the freezer blocks overnight, which is hugely useful.
Everything was so pristine and well thought out, and the owners were considerate and friendly. I really can't fault it.
Just returned from a glorious week at Church House Farm. What a wonderful holiday! 2 best mates and 3 kids had a week of dawn to dusk sunshine. The family at the farm were the perfect hosts even though it was hay making time and they were sooo busy! Every time one of them passed the tent, they would stop for a chat or shout hello. The facilities on the site were 100% clean and tidy at all times, day and night. The family were full of useful information, even offering us a lift to the Royal Welsh Show if we didn't want to take the car! The owner also told us of a river near the site and on one of the hottest days we stayed there all day. It was bliss watching the dragonflies, damselflies and swallows swooping over the river. The Kids didn't want to go home and neither did the adults. Can't wait to go again! I have been camping/caravaning for many years and met some very friendly and helpful site owners but Kathryn and her family were the very best Iv'e ever had the pleasure to meet. Thank you Kathryn and your lovely family.
The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. The farmer spent loads of time with our 3 children showing them all of the newborn lambs in the barn and the family horses and pony. It made their holiday!
The site is lovely, relaxed, clean and well looked after. Plenty of room for the children to run around and play. Very quiet. And very importantly for me, the site is safe for little ones. I felt at ease letting my 3yr old go off and play with her friends.
Toilet and shower facilities are modern and fresh. The only criticism I had was that a separate toilet was needed as there was quite a wait when people were in the shower. Apparently there will be one open soon.
Also, the set up in the washing up room is a little strange as there are 2 sinks but only 1 set of taps. There are 2 bowls and 1 drainer provided though so not really a problem.
We are hoping to return in a few weeks time to see some more of the beautiful area. Great location! Nearby town with tesco, aldi etc only 10 mins away and lots of beautiful walks in the elan valley.
Can't wait to go back and see how much the lambs have grown! Perfect site for us and our friends
Countryside, peace and quiet. Lovely site, immaculate (FREE) showers and toilet facilities. 1 shower, 2 toilets. Not many but adequate for small site. Traffic noise can be heard from the site, but it is not intrusive. Good exercise field for your dogs, but they must be kept on lead on site as this is a working farm with chickens roaming around.
Only stayed for Friday & Saturday night but will come back.
Excellent value for money.
Lots of flies due to the animals but not a big issue. Not a big site so no playground for kids, but they can play in the site field near the units.
Big stores in Llandrindod Wells. Didnt, look for pubs etc as was happy to just enjoy the camp-site.
I picked this site because I wanted a small site somewhere in the Llandridnod Wells area. On approaching it, the camping & caravanning signage is quite discreet, but the clue was in the name of the site.
A Church, a Farm, it could be no other than Church House Farm. My pitch was marked with my name on a cone in case nobody was there to greet me which was reassuring and meant I could settle in quickly after a day's muddy mountain biking, and importantly head for the shower without delay.
And what showers! This site has simply superb facilities for such a small site. Clean, new, spacious, well thought out shower and toilet cubicles. Plenty of space to put clean dry clothes without fear of getting wet.
There is a washing up room with two large and clean sinks, a fridge freezer, an ironing board, hair dryer and lots of information leaflets, and laminated walking maps on an honesty return after use basis.
Lovely too to find bookshelves with three or four shelves of a variety of reading matter on a return before you leave, exchange for a book of your own or leave a donation of 50p for replacement basis. All so carefully thought out.
The field itself was equally well considered. On entry to the site it looked like a rather lovely meadow, but as you near the tent area, a careful and wide strip had been mown to accommodate tents meaning you camped on the short grass and could look out over an expanse of meadow.
Everything as clean as clean could be. There was a large gaggle of chickens sheltering in the shade of the hedge when I arrived which was nice; it is a working farm though, and families with children might want to consider how best to mix kids and chickens as bored children while I was there weren't over kind to the birds.
I don't think there were shops / pub within easy walking distance, but I didn't really explore this as I'd come prepared to self cater.
I will be telling all my friends about this little gem.
What a fantastic little site this is. The facilities are 2nd to none. Exceptionally clean toilet & shower block (2 x toilets/2 x showers - a 3rd loo & shower is in process of being added).
A small utility room with 2 large stainless steel sinks, a fridge/freezer, ironing board & iron, hairdryer.
The utility room was cleaned daily morning & afternoon by Mrs Griffiths (the site owner) and the towels in the wc/shower area were changed twice daily.
The owners have provided a recycling point. Plenty of 'thing to do' leaflets provided, also a supply of reading books were provided and a 'book exchange' service was also available.
There is a small village shop/post office within walking distance of the site, as was a small cafe, petrol station and pub/restaurant. Camp fires are allowed, if raised off the grass. A must, when staying on this site, is a visit to the Elan Valley Reservoirs - these were amazing, unfortunately they were not overflowing, but a visit in winter is on my 'to do' list definitely.
The site owners (and their family) are very friendly and helpful. We had a cup of coffee with them, and the knowledge of the history of the town and various buildings was very interesting. A lovely family, site and area, with amazing surrounding scenery.
Me & my family had a lovely 4day stay & will definitely visit again and again. I would highly recommend this site.
