We stayed here for the Jubilee Bank holiday weekend so we could be near to our daughter at Plymouth Uni.

To be honest there was nothing wrong with the site but we just didn't really like it.

The site itself is very open plan and the pitches are of a reasonable size.

The electric hook up was ok but tripped too easily if you turned too much on (must have been low ampage) Also the site itself kept tripping out and took ages to sort out.

The shop had a very limited variety of stock and we did not use it as there is a Sainsburys close by.

The Bar looked alright if very dated. We did use the takeaway and to be honest it was not brilliant, the fish was obviously frozen (Supermarket type battered fish) and as such not that good value for money, although the portions of Scampi were huge.

It was too cold to use the pool, I did go for a look and it looked a little tired but functional and clean.

The shower blocks were clean but there were little in the way of facilities to hang your cloths whilst taking a shower.

There is a superb area beside the site for dog walks along the river and my pair loved swimming in the river so that was great.

Our biggest problem was very noisy and inconsiderate campers which the wardens did nothing about. Music was loud until after 11:30 and some were still up parting till gone 01:30. I complained the next day but this seemed to make no difference.

The combination of noisy people and the weather prompted us to leave a day early.

All in all I would not return to this site as it just felt a little TLC was missing.

We came down to celebrate my birthday and see how the city had changed in the 20 years since I was at Uni there.

The site is in a great location, don't be put off by the proximity to Marsh Mills roundabout and the trading estate. You are surrounded by trees in a well sheltered site with just a little local noise on the side road from teenagers going back and forth to the local football field behind.

Easy walk to the Park and Ride with lunch at Capt. Jasper's and the Aquarium after. It's a city so everything you need (food, tent spares, Halfords, etc) is nearby.

Out of the city Dartmoor Zoo is a good day out (and they are linked to the Aquarium so saver tickets available) and there are good beaches within 20 minutes drive.

Spotless toilet block and plenty of space on our pitch; but we were almost out of season so none of it was put under pressure.

Unfortunately we did have to leave early but we will definitely be going back.

We were surprised at the construction work going on considering that the site is opened all year round. We were not told about the construction work until we had paid. Told also about the dogs had to be exercised off site, not a very welcoming tone as we did not know whether that we literally had to take the dog in the car to off site and they were not allowed to put a paw down, this was clarified in their handout, nevertheless that could have been said at the time as we didn't feel welcome.

It appeared that none of the facilities were open, but to be fair they had stated that in some of their advertising, however it is important to make the user feel welcome, especially during construction work, moreover this was quite an expensive site in relation to the others we visited.

The area is a very good site and it has many walks along the riverside, the site allows great access to north Cornwall, Plymouth and Plympton, the camper will easily have wonderful days out in Plymouth which is steeped in history. Give yourself plenty of time here for days out and value for money shopping in Plymouth City Centre.

Two Supermarket superstores are close by, so you have the choice selection of food, clothing and electrical. However there is nothing like the town centre to give you retail therapy!

This site is a must stay and gives you great access much of the surrounding attractions. We will go there again.

Excellent site for visiting Plymouth with the P&R bus service a 20 min. Walk although last bus back is 6-30 pm. If a later bus back is required then the No. 21/22 drops off by the MacDonalds near the campsite, this bus can be picked up by Poundland on The Royal Parade.

As it was closed season the site facilities were shut so found it very peaceful and relaxing with only the Tawny Owl from the surrounding trees keeping me awake at night.

Thought the toilet/showers were clean and modern and had no trouble with the hot water. There is a cycle track to the city centre.

Had a peek at the closed club house and noticed they do real ale which is unusual and perhaps worthy of a visit sometime in the future, thought the reception friendly and helpful.

My wife and I have just spent a lovely week at riverside and thought it was a very nice site with good facilities.

The park and ride is only about a ten to fifteen minute walk away and if fine then a short cut using the riverside path is recommended with the possibility of spotting the Kingfisher flying by as we did on a couple of occasions.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the meals in the restaurant were excellent, plentiful and very reasonably priced.

Will definitely visit again.

Stayed here for 7 nights and had a great time. The pitch was just a little bit bigger than the tent but allowed the car to be parked next to the tent.

The toilets were clean but the showers had no temperature control and the sinks were scalding hot.

The play area for the kids kept them amused and mostly in the shade with the trees. The swimming pool was heated but not much.

My only complaint about the pool area was the dirt around the pool. This was due to people being allowed in the area with their shoes dragging dirt in. When you were coming out of the pool your feet were filthy. A small foot pool and shoe racks would have solved this problem.

Also kids were cycling around the pool adding to the problem. To be fair to the owners the pool isn't supervised, intending parents to do the supervision but this doesn't seem to work as kids were there unsupervised.

Go into the Barbican in Plymouth and get the ferry to Cawsand in Cornwall for the day. Its a cheep day out and a nice wee boat ride.

We stayed at this site for one week during peak season. The pitch was very spacious, we asked for a roomy spot for our family tent. The site itself is great, good drainage, we had a lot of rain, but that was no problem.

The surroundings are indeed lovely, considering you are so near a city. Staff was friendly. We noticed that we and also other visitors were not accompanied to the pitches. So there was quite some confusion at times, about where the boundaries of the pitches are.

Toilet/shower very basic, always warm water for the showers, the water for washing up was too hot, dangerous for children. The washing up area was smelly.

As I said, it was a busy time of year, so I will allow for that, but 2 women showers were out of order, cleaning was done once a day, with so many people that's not enough. We were unfortunate to have noisy neighbours, and we would have been very happy if the campsite managers would make a sort of late night (23. 00pm) check up round the site, to point out these things to their guests.

We did not use the pool or pub, so no comment there. The shop on site is very limited, but it's a 3 minute drive to Sainsbury's. Wonderful!

The trees on the campsite are impressive, beautiful! You absolutely get the feeling you're in the country.

This was the first campsite my family used for our new tent. We are total camping newbies. The site is very nice. Not massive (not that I would know what a large campsite is like though). The facilities are very good.

Plenty of toilets / showers. The take away smelt very nice. No idea though what the food is like. A small shop in reception is handy. Knowing Plymouth well, there is a large sainsburys not too far away. And even a macadeees if you want a burger / breakfast!

The site itself is very quiet and peaceful. We were not frowned upon even when our kids were running around making noise. Waking up to the sound of the birds was very nice.

A really enjoyable stay. Living locally we will use this place more often.

Even heading back this weekend! Highly recommended!

Arrived earlier than planned at site, but wardens happy to allow us to go to pitch as was midweek and not too busy. Stayed at same site last year and liked. River walk is lovely and goes on for miles. Visiting family-so convenient. Walked to Park and Ride 20minutes away. Doesn't run on a Sunday or Bank Holidays.

Toilet block much improved- would like to see some grouting in floor tiles though-germs!

Had a take away one night and was quite nice and better than cooking. Didn't go to the bar so can't comment.

Pitch very small. We reversed in and put up our awning and found a note on our awning on our last day, saying to go to office. It appears our guy ropes where over next doors pitch. We were only allocated half of the grass by the side of our pitch - didn't know this.

All sites we have stayed at in the past allocate one side of pitch to us but here you are in the middle [on hardstanding] and you get half of each side of this. It doesn't work if you have a motorhome as we found out! Make sure that you know exactly which is your space when you check in.

The campsite is lovely with stunning trees and well manicured lawns. We had a hard standing pitch which was well sized, we were only there for a weekend visiting our son who is at Uni so didn't put an awning up but looked big enough to do so.

As it was low season the facilities weren't open but this didn't bother us. We took our 2 Labradors with us and they loved the dog walk next to the river, this leads to some fantastic walks across the countryside, we were extremely lucky that we picked a weekend with wall to wall sunshine.

The toilet blocks are clean and smell fresh and were always empty but this was low season and a lot of the pitches were empty so can't comment what they would be like peak season.

The reception staff were very friendly and with the security barrier at the entrance to the site this made you feel secure.

The only down side to our stay was that the site warden shouted at my husband to get off the grass he was waiting with our two labs on leads on the camping pitch opposite our caravan while I locked up. This upset me as we are considerate campers, but to their credit they came across later and apologised, they thought we were just walking the dogs on the pitches and they didn't realise that we were actually sited there. This does show that if you camp in a tent it will be clear of any dog mess.

We would definitely recommend this site and intend to return here if we can get in later this year for our sons graduation
