 I have just been to the Horam manor site today to book a pitch for our stay in July as my partners mum lives in the village we often go for a walk round in the summer months to get our camping fix during the times we cannot camp.
I was so surprised to find that so much fabulous work has been undertaken since my last visit. The first field now has lots of new hard standing pitches worked into tiers with new tarmaced roads leading to them & a few grass pitches too.
There is also a new block housing showers, toilets & dish washing facilities & up near the older toilet & shower block is a lovely new children's park all made of wooden logs.
I spoke to the couple running the park & they were so helpful & now I'm looking forward to our first camping trip to the site in July.

Booked several pitches at this campsite for a mother and child get together the pitches were very generous, but if you need electric hook up take long cables as we had to cross 3 pitches with ours to get to hook up. This was not a problem as all the other campers were very helpful and friendly. We did not have good weather for this short 3 day break but found plenty to keep all the children amused the ages ranged from 3 to 7 and all the children enjoyed the play area open area and walks in the woods following the walk set out. We also used the restaurant by the lake which was very busy but great food and very accommodating for our large party. One of our cars broke down on leaving all staff were very helpful and the restaurant was a great place to sit and wait. Lastly but by no means least the toilet facilities were kept very clean especially as some days it was very wet and muddy excellent work from the young girl who was cleaning.
There are local shops within walking distance and further shops within 5 mins driving all these facilities are mentioned on the information sheet given out on arrival.
A great site will go back again. Some of the children and adults had not camped before and they were converted by their experience at this camp site.

Revisited the site with friends following fond memories from last tear and wasn't disappointed. Had lovely spacious pitches, the facilities had everything you needed, and only queued once for the showers and only for 5 mins - not bad seeing as the site was near full. The boys loved the fishing and after buying a rod and bait for £10 from the little hut spent day after day by the lakes. The girls went horse riding on site which again went down well. There was a little noise the first night but seemed to be a one off. Got take-away fish and chips from the local village (5 min walk) which was out of this world - skate and chips like never before - will definitely be visiting again!

Nice location. We stayed friday/sat night and paid an extra £5 to stay til 6pm on Sunday. The pitch was fairly even and marked out, and quite spacious we have a large tent but had no problems pitching. We were in the second field which seemed nicer.
We went with our children and another family and their kids and were allocated 2 pitches next to each other. The first night was quite noisy but the offending campers were asked to leave by the campsite owners and the next night someone went round asking people to be quiet at around 11. We did have rain the first night but the pitch seemed to drain well.
The shower block/toilets and washing up facilities were reasonable. There was plenty of hot water in the mornings and the showers were adjustable for temperature. I felt the toilet shower block could have been cleaned a little more frequently. The campsite was fairly busy but I didn't have to queue at all for the showers. There is one washing machine and one tumble dryer in the laundry room which were reasonably priced.
There is a small on site shop that sells ice creams and crisps but little else. They could have done with stocking a few essentials eg. Bread, milk eggs etc and a few camping essentials.
There is a small playground which kept our kids busy for a while but was of limited appeal for the two 10yr olds in the party. It also got quite muddy at times.
We fished with the children in the campsite lakes. We were charged £5 per rod. The lakes seemed well stocked and I think almost everyone caught a fish. There is a nice little cafe next to the lakes for cups of teas and coffees and light lunches and handy toilet facilities. We also walked around one of their nature trails and picked blackberries.
Its a short drive to the coast we went the weekend of the Airbourne show which we watched from Beachy Head - in fact the red arrows flew over the campsite a couple of times over the weekend.
We only ate out once but gave the local pubs recommended by the campsite a miss as they looked a bit run down from outside.
We chanced upon the Runt in Tun between Horam and Heathfield for Sunday lunch. They have a kids menu from £3. 95 and a really good play area for the kids in their beer garden. They do a cracking roast lunch with great homemade yorkshire puddings. Our one course meal and drinks for 4 adults and 6 children came to only £80. There was no room for pudding.
I would say overall a good little campsite - reasonably priced but not enough to make me want to visit again.

We spent a very enjoyable holiday here. The pitches were spacious, although the site was busy it didn't feel overcrowded.
The toilet and shower facilities were cleaned regularly and there was plenty of hot water.
We asked for pitches near to the facility block because one of our party is disabled, the staff were always friendly and very helpful.
The washing up area was inside and again kept nice and clean.
There are some lovely wooded walks next to the site and the surrounding area is lovely with plenty of places to visit.
It is definitely on our list of sites to return to.

My friend and I arrived with four children in tow, at the site without booking, hoping for a night's stay. The lady at reception was very friendly and managed to fit us in.
The site was very clean and flat and the toilets were spotless. We have stayed here before, and they have improved and updated the site even further.
If you are looking for a friendly, clean and safe site in a lovely part of the country, not far from the sea and in a rural setting then this is it. Good value for money as well.

We stayed at this site twice last year and it is one of our favourite sites. I have two children 11 and 7 eyars and they really enjoyed staying here. The pitches are very good sizes. We had a hook up which unfortunately did not extent to our tent and required an extension which I was able to rent from the site at no cost just a deposit so this want a problem. The toilets are very clean and also they have a few showers and I never once had to queue. Plenty of sinks etc.
We had a great time fishing with the children and also my sister took her children horse riding which I should have really booked up to as they had a great time. There is also somewhere to eat near the stables which appeared to be quite nice.
There are 9 fishing lakes on the estate. There is a small children’s playground which the children thoroughly enjoyed and they made plenty of friends
There are two pubs within walking distance and also a chip shop ion the village.
We camped with my sister and our friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay
We are going back in April 2012 and are really looking forward to our stay.
The people running the site are really friendly and nice people.

We have just got back from our camping holiday staying at the Horam Manor Touring Park, a lovely site, well maintained with friendly staff. Thoroughly recommend this site. Showers were hot and toilets were clean.
We had adequate space for our 'home from home'. Despite being on a main road (A267) through to Eastbourne, traffic noise was minimal.
My boys enjoyed the fishing and the warden there was extremely pleasant, my daughter took advantage of the riding school and had a great time.
Electric hook-ups available and the use of cables are available for a small deposit. We arrived before the allotted time but that wasn't a problem. We left our car and trailer in the car park and walked down to the Lakeside Cafe where we had bacon butties and drinks, the mug of coffee I had was delightful, just what I needed after our journey down.
Site was easy to find.

Family of four stayed here for a long weekend first week of June. Very friendly welcome and told we were given an upgraded pitch on arrival. Little did we know that someone had just been forced to move because the site was so windy they couldn't get their tent up. With the help of some fantastic neighbours we finally got our Vango Colorado up in a howling gale.
Lovely spot though if you are in the far field on the hill, the wind really gets up. Site was full with loads of kids and quite noisy in the evening.
Facilities were ok but when full there was a queue for showers. Bit of a slope but pitches easily marked and spacious.
Kids liked it and we would go back but this time probably take the near field.

This was our first camping trip and a good time was had by all just a same the weather wasn't a little better the first two days. A friendly welcome is a good start and the staff were very good.
The kids enjoyed the little playground and riding around the site on their bikes. A welcome break for the adults and a little freedom for the kids.
We went on the nature walks which were lovely but felt that charging £1 a person was a little steep!
On the day when the wind howled we found a welcome retreat at the lakeside cafe which from the outside didn't look much but offered great homemade produce from within.
The facilities available included a washing machine and dryer and a family wash room which were very handy with kids.
The only thing I feel I need to mention on the downside is the lack of hot water for showers and washing up at peak times and that the showers are a little underpowered a problem when trying to wash shampoo out of hair. However from reading a previous review I understand that the toilet block is to be updated for 2012.

This is a fantastic campsite with excellent facilities all ways very clean. And a washing machine and tumble dryer, very useful I have to say
The site is big enough to get any size motorhome in with very spacious pitches. The price was good more then fair.
I found the site very peaceful at all times even though there were lots of children playing unlike some sites I've been to.
The location was good too, easy walking distance to the village of Horam. Shops pubs and a motorcycle shop / cafe were bikers meet up
Very Dog friendly with lots of places to walk them and a big field for them to run around.
We have been twice in 3 weeks and will most definitely be going back. If you are into fishing then there are some biggies in there, and there is a nice tea room/cafe by the fishing lake.
Negatives:the showers are lacking in power but they were hot, clean, free and more than adequate.
I would definitely recommend this site.

I camped here with my extended family (There was 18 of us including children and a few dog's) over the bank holiday weekend (29 April 2011) and we all very much enjoyed our stay.
The pitches were nice and grassy and I didn't need my rock pegs.
There is a children's play ground adjacent to the camp site as well as the nice little one on site which my 2 young girls enjoyed and shops only a 5-10 minute walk away.
The fishing areas were great and seemed very popular and the warden was very friendly and accommodating as well as having a great sense of humour.
My only criticism would be that the hot water for showers seemed to go very quickly but otherwise was happy with the toilet block and it always appeared clean whilst we was there.
Also the warden told us the toilet block is getting updated for 2012.
We all enjoyed our time here and have all booked up to go again in July/August.

Disappointing. Far too many tents crammed in, large groups with little consideration for their fellow campers, cars everywhere, showers that could barely muster a drizzle.
The nature trails, workshops, woodland walks etc sound lovely but the reality is almost comical, though the horse riding was a big hit with the children.
The small playground is too close to the road whilst the larger play area has a somewhat inner city feel to it.
The village has a good fish and chip shop, very reasonable pub and the cafe next to the campsite was far, far better than it's appearance would indicate.
It is probably no coincidence that these highlights were all separate to the actual campsite. Overall, an underwhelming campsite made worse by noisy and inconsiderate campers.

Really nice site. We stayed over the Easter weekend and although the site was busy and a little noisy at times (but nothing to bad) the owners were very friendly and you saw them everyday.
The toilet block and showers were great, very clean and tidy at all times, not just mornings or later in the day - pleasure to use. They must be cleaned a few times a day I guess.
Some pitches are a little open if you don't to be viewed on all 4 sides you may want to ask for a pitch along the hedges.
Wifi was about £7 a day which was the only bad thing.
Playground was great for kids and seemed well cared for.
Nice site and we enjoyed our stay.

This was our first camping trip with a new tent, and we could not have chosen a better place to start. With a warm welcome and good standard facilities, we were perfectly at ease from the moment we arrived,
There was not much in the way of entertainment for the kids, which meant we had to try our hand at the ancient art of making our own fun. The atmosphere of the site made that really easy.
The owners, and staff have a relaxed approach, but nothing was too much trouble, even when we went to leave, and our car wouldn't start we were rescued by a big smile and a set of jump leads.
There is so much positive to say about our experience, the local beauty, nature trails etc. Although the local shops were closed over the bank holidays.
I can only sum up by saying thanks very much, we have already recommended the site to a friend, and we will be back!
