What a wonderful setting for a campsite, the generously spaced pitches are all in prime locations within this woodland glade. The showers and toilets are spotless and the welcome from Albert is second to none, pirate Pete the one eyed cat is a real character on the site who treated our dog with the contempt he deserved. The walk through the woods is very pleasant on the well defined path and you would rarely need wellies to walk round it. We explored the area quite extensively and found the location ideal for many places of interest such as Arundel and the South Downs Park which is well worth touring around. Brighton is not too far and the Pavilion and Lanes are worth visiting. The local supermarket is a Sainsburys but others a well within reach. For a treat try the Food Restaurant in Worthing for a good meal out in with great service in a lovely place. Acorns is easy to reach, very secluded in a beautiful setting and has a friendly helpful owner, there is not much more we could want.
We have been campers for many years and have never bothered leaving a review before, but this site was so good, I felt compelled to review it.
On arrival the warden made us feel very welcome with his humorous guide to the facilities and local amenities.
The toilet/shower blocks were always clean, but with only 2 toilets and 2 showers for each sex they may get busy at the height of the season, although this wasn't a problem for us. The washing up area was always clean as well.
The site was tranquil and beautiful, as a keen bird spotter I saw plenty of species around the place.
The local village of Angmering was only a couple of minutes away by car and had all the usual shops and pubs.
We spent a weekend at Acorns and had a great time. The owner was friendly and very helpful on arrival. The site was immaculate, the showers were the best Ive used whilst camping. The ladies and gents contained two hand basins, two toilets and two showers each, which was ample during our stay. We walked into the beautiful village centre which is about a mile down the road. The village has a pub, chemist, CO-OP, and a couple of takeaways. We were told from the outset that if the kids wanted to play with their football to go to the park across the road, but this wasn't an issue. The nature trail through the woods was both interesting and informative, taking about 20 minutes. To surmise a spacious and quiet, well presented campsite, set in beautiful woodland with a plethora of wildlife. I would stay again if visiting the area.
We chose the Acorns to trial our new campervan by sticking a pin in UKCampsite.co.uk and reading the reviews. We didn't think every visitor could be exaggerating the attractions of this site, and so it proved.
There really isn't a lot that we can add to others' comments. The site is beautifully located, peaceful, private, with toilets, showers, wash-up and waste disposal facilities provided to an extremely high standard. Albert and Pam are marvellous hosts and there is no end to the many places to visit and explore.
The village of Angmering is just a 15 minute walk and well worth a visit. There are many fine examples of flintstone architecture (including St Margaret's Church dating back to the 12th century), and a recently re-furbished pub, the Lamb, which keeps Harvey's. Angmering is a very pretty village, struggling to retain its identity in the face of the demands of 21st century developers.
We enjoyed a good evening meal at the Woodman's Arms which is only about 200 yards from the site (they do Fullers but not Harvey's). Others have mentioned places such as Arundel, Littlehampton, Brighton - all within easy reach - but not what we were after on our first trip off the drive, getting to know the new campervan.
For a maiden voyage I can't think of a better way in which to lose my innocence than to visit Angmering. Of course many campers, far more seasoned than us, also speak very highly of the Acorns, and we will certainly be returning in the future to this delightful spot at the foot of the South Downs.
We had a lovely week here with our kids aged 14 and 12 in the Whit hols. Some rain, some sun so experience of both. Albert very welcoming - we were showed to our roomy pitch where we could put the tent where we liked and he explained where things were etc. There isn't much for kids around, but we knew that before we went. The site is very pretty though near a busy road (and some kind of shooting also seems to go and night at this time of year).
Woodmans Arms apparently doesn't accept children and it was shut when we tried anyhow (5. 45). It is a ten minute walk to the village where you'll fine an Indian takeaway, a chip shop and a Coop - all are fine. The Lamb in the village looked OK for food, but we didn't eat there as it seemed to have no garden. The Spotted Cow is further up the High St (hidden away a bit), can't comment on that one either sorry. We cycled to both Worthing (small seaside town) and Littlehampton (even smaller seaside town) both bits we experienced were a mix of shingle and sand, but pleasant enough places to visit.
Not great for cycling with younger kids (I think we were expecting the site to be a bit more like parts of the new forest by the description).
Brighton is an easy & cheap train ride away - the train station is a twenty to twenty five minute walk away. Chichester is within easy reach in the other direction - a small Roman(?) town with a beautiful cathedral. Arundel castle is a very short drive or longer walk away and is well worth a visit, amazing. We also went to the Surrey County Show at Guildford which was fab!
The facilities on the site are clean and the 'girls' only had to queue once for a shower of which there are two. The showers in the ladies' could be a little hotter, but that is personal preference. The site never gets very busy. Can cater for up to 14 units, so always lots of room and peaceful.
Recommended for older people or families where kids don't mind being quietish while on the site. We didn't know about the 'woodland trail' - just thought the campsite ended up the path and that was that. But would have gone for a walk up there if we'd known.
We have just returned from a 4 night stay at 'Acorns' and feel completely relaxed and 'chilled out'. What a perfect site to come to if you need time to unwind and escape from the hustle and bustle.
On arrival we were greeted by Albert and given a choice of pitches, Albert gave us some general information about the site and surrounding area. The pitches were big and well spaced out.
The site is set in a beautiful woodland setting and is so lovely and quiet, it is a far cry from the bigger tourist sites with playgrounds and entertainment etc. The toilet/showers are spotlessly clean and adequate for the size of the site as was the washing up area.
The small village of Angmering is very close by and has a co-op and pharmacy etc. For essentials and Sainsburys is only a 5 minute drive away. We visited Arunel, Worthing and Littlehampton which were all within 10 miles of the site and worth a visit.
This is a site we would definite consider visiting again and have already recommended it to friends.
What a wonderful campsite. Our recent stay there (15 nights) was an absolute joy, helped enormously by; the campsite setting, Albert the helpful owner, the facilities and the sheer tranquillity of being in a woodland environment. Spotting deer on site was a bonus, although we were equally taken by the glow-worms, or just staring at greenery. Camping at Acorns is a therapeutic experience and the place is ideally situated for visits to Brighton, Worthing, coastal walks, Petworth, Virginia Woolf's house, seaside, Isle of Wight, Chicester, Portsmouth etc. Toilet/shower/washing up block was immaculate, loads of hot water, clean & dry facilities, and choice of hand soap! Secluded pitch, next to trees, bushes, bunnies, and a one-eyed cat. The local village and shops are 15min walk away. Excellent Indian TakeAway, superb sausages and bacon from the local butcher, great eggs and apple tart from the bakers. A pub just 250 yds away. The traffic on the A27 can be heard but rarely noticed. On site there is a woodland walkway and you're encouraged to explore the grounds.
Owner incredibly helpful and friendly advising on what activities were available in the area for my child on a day to day basis asking if we needed any help or advice and then leaving us to enjoy the tranquility of the site. We got to be part of an Archeological dig at Fishborne Roman place that we would not have know about without the owner. It was a real highlight for us both. We saw glow worms for the first time ever - totally amazing. There is a lovely woodland walk. My eight year old was never bored.
We felt very safe.
Loved the toilet blocks - always plenty of hot water immaculate.

The beach was close by parking there was easy and it was fun not sandy stoney but very enjoyable

Toilets and showers are very clean. The site is well maintained and very peaceful. Albert is always around for a chat. Its a pleasure to go to a site that is'nt just for kids. (note there is no play park) We have enjoyed being able to chill away from the rat race of life! One thing you do need to take with you is an insect candle and bite cream. Noise from the A27 can be heard but you get used to it. Local shops(Co-op, Butchers, Bakers)and Takeaways (Indian and a Chippy) Woodman Arms pub about seven minutes walk, and there are two more around fifteen minutes walk to the village.
Plenty to see along the Sussex coast and the town of Portsmouth with the Historic Harbour. One thing for sure Albert. We will be back!
Very peaceful location surrounded by woodland and lots of room between pitches.
The site owner usually only lets out about 8 pitches at a time to prevent any overcrowding. There were only 7 other units on site when we arrived (5 of which were tents). You can comfortably sit out in your awning and still have plenty of room for your car etc.
Access is via the A27 and as a previous reviewer mentions you need to double back on yourself if approaching from Arundel. You simply take the 2nd turn on the left of the dual carriageway (after you've passed The Woodman Arms pub). Once you've turned into Angmering Road (by Hammerpot garage) the site is only a few yards on the left at the top of the hill. So be aware of this as we almost shot past!
The washblock was always immaculate - two handbasins with hand wash/gel, two toilets and two showers for each sex. Showers are push button and the temperature and shower head is fixed but the temperature was fine. There is also a (free) hairdryer in the Ladies.
There is no playground or anything else on site (other than the washing up sinks/veg prep area) so I would say this site is aimed more at adults although it's not Adult Only. There is also some local information provided in the veg prep/sink area - menu's for local pubs, weather forecast and books.
Due to the neighbouring woodland there is an abundance of wildlife - pheasants, rabbits, deer ( I was lucky to see 2 when coming out of the washblock late one evening). I'm not sure but I think I also saw a woodpecker.
We tried the 'Woodman Arms' pub which is about an 8 min walk (and sprint across the A27!). The service was very good and we enjoyed our food. We also had a curry from Shafiques (indian takeway in the village) - huge portions and excellent food. They do deliver to the campsite if you can't be bothered to walk or take the car! We didn't actually walk into the village but would say it's about a 15-20 min walk depending on how fast you walk. There's a Co-op (open until 10pm I think), butchers, pattiserie, small newsagents, chippy, PO (within Co-op) and another pub 'The Lamb' in Angmering village.
The site was perfect for some of the attractions and places we wanted to visit - Portsmouth and The Spinnaker Tower (approx 50 mins by car), Worthing, Bognor Regis, Arundel Castle, Hayling Island to name a few. Littlehampton was one of our favourite places - approx 12 mins by car. Check out Osca's for great fish and chips! It's worth noting that you don't pay for parking after 6pm in Littlehampton.
We really enjoyed the space and privacy at this small site and would return if back in the area.
Just returned from a lovely weekend at Acorns. Shower and toilet block really clean and lovely and warm. Owners really friendly and helpful, with good size pitches with electric available. The site is part of a nice woodland area. Angmering village short walk away with a good pub, cafe, butchers and co op. Enjoyed one of the many local walks in the woods just a stroll away from the site. Within easy access to Arundel and a local garden centre. Would recommend this site and will be returning.
Excellent campsite. As mentioned elsewhere the campsite is set within a very attractive woodland setting.
The toilets, showers and washing up facilities were modern and spotless with no shortage of hot water available.
The owners were extremely helpful and friendly in offering advice on the surrounding area. There is also a village about a 10 minute walk away offering a co-op and places to eat/takeaway if needed.
This was a great place to stay and visit nearby Arundel Castle too. One thing to note if approaching the site from the dual carriage way via Arundel is that you must carry on past the site to the next roundabout and double-back on yourself a short distance to take the appropriate exit as there is no right-turn on the A27.
This is a small site (at an estimate, there maybe space for 14 electric pitches), but one of the most beautiful we've ever visited. We will definitely be returning for the peace and quiet. Some of the pitches are set back in small wooded glades of their own, and the whole campsite is surrounded by attractive woods/forest. Apparently, there's an orienteering trail too, but we didn't look into that. The site is very environmentally friendly, which is something we value immensely, with recycling facilities, and (I think) environmentally friendly waste disposal.
The owners are extremely friendly, and despite being a late arrival (9pm), we were still given a great welcome and introduction to local shops, food outlets etc. They were very approachable, and we were given an information sheet about the site, but no long lists of rules. The smallness seems to encourage people to be well-behaved and considerate.
Bathroom and washing up facilities are exceedingly clean. The washing up area had working non-push button taps (a luxury) and could fit our very large bowl! In the women's bathroom, there were two loos, two basins and two showers (don't know about mens facilities as we thought it would be rude to go in, but assume they're similar). Bathroom was immaculate on every visit. Showers were very clean and there was an area within cubicle to hang clothes/bags. The showers are push button, but temperature is perfect and they don't need to be pushed every 5 seconds. Shower blocks look new (or at least, they're kept in very good condition). One of our main criteria for choosing sites is the bathrooms, and we were very happy with these. We also used an EHU pitch, with which we had no problems.
Due to size of the site, there aren't a lot of extra facilities (no children's playground that we could see and no shop), but it's perfect for people who are reasonably self-sufficient and want a quiet time. Despite this, there were families on site who were quite happy playing with balls and bikes etc. The smallness of the site was something we valued. There were only about four other tents/caravans on the site when we were there in mid-August! We were able to informally exchange our freezer blocks (no charge) which was the only additional facility we really needed. The site prices were extremely reasonable and we will definitely return.
The only downside was noise from nearby A-road, but after a while, we just blocked out the background noise. Coming from London, it wasn't anything to complain about, but if you are from a really really quiet place, it might be an issue.
If you are looking from getting away from it all, then this is the site for you. Although not far from where we live, it is probably one of the best sites we have ever been too. Had a little trouble getting the caravan level, but Albert was very accommodating with extra blocks. Showers were spotless, site was beautiful and the pitches were very spacious. Would definitely recommend this site to anybody wanting peace and relaxation. The site is well located for local shops and bigger towns. We will definitely be using this site again.
Arrived here as an emergency booking due to previous site being too windy. The owners are lovely, so kind and helpful. This has to be one of the best campsites we have ever been on.
The facilities are superb, always clean and warm. There is loads of space between units and Albert gives you a box for recycling.
There are some excellent walks through their woods, especially the walk done by the girl guides, (please buy a badge for £1 to help continue their good work).
There are some fantastic sites to see in West Sussex and this is the perfect site for exploring this area.
If you want a quiet weekend, this site is a must. You can hear the A27, but this blends into the background very quickly.
