 Nice campsite. We stayed in a tent and took a small camper van as well. Could do with a few more electic hook up points as everyone with a camper was in one corner of the field. The second field with the tents was better as everyone was spread out evenly. Only one shower block (which I didn't use so cannot comment) and two toilet blocks, one male, one female. They were a bit small. Female block was very clean, partner says that male block was not so clean.
Would probably come again as location very good to get to Brighton within 20 mins.

We stayed for 2 nights in a self contained caravan, but paid the extra per night for the electric hook up. The site is not sign-posted from the road advertising camping (no brown sign), so you need to be on guard. The weather was beautiful.
Facilities are basic but mainly adequate, can get very busy at peak times and very clean. Due to a large amount of people waiting to use the showers on Saturday night we used our own facilities - there are adequate waste facilities for caravaners and water taps everywhere!
The most appealing things about this site are: no marked pitches, camp where you want (more so for basic campers of which this site seems really popular), the huge open spaces, the beautiful settings and lovely walks. The site is mainly occupied by more basic campers and I can quite honestly say that in over 20 years of camping this is one of the most friendly sites I have ever stayed on. The owner is really friendly - very helpful and open to suggestions. He also came round and spoke to his visitors!
The fishing lake according to my husband is an undiscovered gem. Its stocked full of mirror carp up to 20lb and some common carp. There are a lot of hidden snags in the lake though and could prove challenging to novice anglers.
This site will definitely be visited by us again - we met some great people (most of who were regular visitors)and had good fun, which sadly on a lot of sites nowadays seems to have disappeared.

Just returned from our first camping trip. What a great site this was. Despite the Bank Holiday rain we had a great time.
Basic site but a lovely setting. Nice family shower block. There are now two toilet blocks, one male and one female. All kept very clean especially with the mud being walked in with all the rain!
Lots of space for the kids to play and a couple of nice pubs within a 30 minute walk. Just the right distance to build up a thirst!
We chose this site for our first trip as it is quite close to home, but it felt like we had really got away from it all and will definitely return here.
The owner was nice and friendly, comes around a couple of times a day to see everything is ok. Not obtrusive at all, if you want to chat he will, if not he'll just smile and wave!

We had a great time. It's in a beautiful setting with really relaxed welcoming owners.
Our friends joined us at the last minute and the site owners were very accomodating.
Basic site, but perfect for real camping.
Mens/Womens toilets and hot showers
There is a little farm across the road from the entrance selling free range eggs.
The pub just up the road does a wonderful Sunday roast.
We will return again in the summer.
Very reasonable at £4 each person

We ( 2 adults, 3 kids and a dog), stayed here for three nights over the bank holiday. We were joined by friends for two nights, this being the only campsite I have found to accept less than three nights over a bank holiday! We had a lovely time, the owner was friendly and laid back, very flexible about where we camped and our expanding party.
We had a prime spot by the lake and it was peaceful and unspoilt, very relaxing. Lots of space for the kids to play in, and adjacent footpaths for exercising the dog.
Facilities were basic but ample, even though it was busy. There are several unisex portaloos in the second field (where we were) which I think some reviewers had not seen as they complain about only one mens loo, (which is in the first field). The showers were a great surprise, elctric HOT showers day or night, plenty of room for all the kids. Washing up was a pain with only cold water, but hey, you're camping!
The only downsides for us were the lack of facilities for freezing ice-packs and the fact that reception didn't hold any information about local places of interest or maps.
We had two great days on the beach in Shoreham, only a 15 minute drive away and would definitely stay here again.

We spent one night here in July for an get together with some work mates and their families. The site was chosen for being reasonably local for everybody.
The plus points:-
Clean
Quiet
Informal
Peaceful
The sun shone!
Loads of space for the kids to play
No marked pitches so we could create our own space
The kids enjoyed stroking the owners dog
The minus points:-
Only one really - facilities - as has been said before, only 1 men's loo for the whole site, not so much of a problem with a caravan but not really ideal. I cant speak for the ladies!
The owner regularly patrolled in his pickup complete with dog, this was not obtrusive as generally it all seemed quite laid back.
Would return again but probably just for a single night due to facilities.

Nice campsite. Pity and grass wasn't cut short all over. We were offered the small area of short grass but we would have been right in the middle of the field and very exposed and very close to others. Facilities ok but with only a few very small toilet cubicles and two unisex showers for the whole campsite I would not like to be there when its busy. There is also no hot water. I think this campsite is overpriced for what it offers.

We recently spent 2 nights at this campsite and had a lovely time. There are two large fields, we were allocated the 2nd field which had the lake at the bottom and we managed to bag to best spot right by the edge of the water. It was so peaceful.
There are two electric showers and although there maybe could be a few more showers they were great, always hot water and clean.
We live just half an hour away and it seemed like we were miles away it was just lovely there and I would highly recommend it for couples who just want to get away and relax. Enjoy.

I also camped here one night to try out a new tent, with my daughter aged 8. Basic facilities, but functional and adequate; toilet cabin (one side (and one loo) for the boys, other side for the girls), hot showers, a steel sink and washing area on the edge of the camping field, plus an extra water tap here and at the toilet. There are a couple of old tractors and one or two other bits of farm machinery around which were of great interest to the kids. I loved the fab airstream caravan in the upper field!
Tents are mostly in the lower field (pitch where you like); flat but very gently sloping down toward the lake. It had been raining a lot but did not seem muddy underfoot or on pitching. We spoke to some guys who were very happy with the fishing - I saw several good sized carp landed during our stay.
The setting is wonderful, surrounded by fields, virtually no traffic noise and just the odd plane going over towards Gatwick. We took a walk along the footpath alongside hedgerows, through interesting fields and woodland and out into the open, to see the sun setting, and a barn owl on patrol.
There was some caravan club do with music going on the Saturday night in the upper field whilst we were there and many families and large family groups which lent to a jolly but laid back atmosphere. The proprietor was friendly and checked all was well around the field from time to time.
There is no shop on site but I think the basic facilities are part of the charm - it's a lovely spot and the site is run with a light touch. Recommended if you like it that way.

We only spent one Saturday night here in order to try out our new tent. (It was a good test as it tipped down with rain during the night and all the following day!). It was the first time I had taken our children "proper" camping before (ages 2, 4, and 6) and they had a great time.
I had popped by for a nose during the week to check it out and only saw 1 tent so didn't bother to book, but when we arrived to check-in I was ticked off for not booking as they like to vet people! As it turned out there were about 15-20 tents this weekend all in the top field.
Facilities were very basic - only 1 mens loo, but that didn't bother us. Great open space for frisbee or stomp rockets!
Definately recommended for a quiet weekend (I imagine you could be on your own during the week) to explore the local countryside. Also recommended a couple of minutes drive away is the child-friendly "The Bull" (towards Shermanbury) for it's pizzas.

We only stayed for one night to try out a new tent but we had a lovely night. It is set in beautiful surroundings and is VERY peaceful. Other reviews state that it only has one toilet but there are now two which are basic but perfectly adequate and very clean. It has a shower block but as we didn't use it we cannot make a comment. We had a very pleasant walk across fields and along rivers and no traffic could be heard.
There does not appear to be any play area for children so this site is perfect for adults or families who enjoy peace and quiet. A wonderfully peaceful stay!

This site is a rare find. We visited last year and had a fantastic time, we came back again this year to see a new toilet and shower block much closer to the camping fields. This site has alot of charm, The young girl at the site was really helpful, provided us with a map and detailed directions to the pub which was well worth the walk. No ground fires this year which is a shame but understandable, We were fine with our BBQ anyway.
Fantastic site, very friendly and beautiful. Well worth the trip from London!

Lots of positives, and a few negatives but they really depend on what you are looking for.
This unspoilt traditional campsite is spread across 2 large and gently sloping fields, one of which runs down to a fishing lake.
Both camping fields are unlit and are sheltered by woodland on at least 2 sides, and there are various public bridleways running adjacent.
The site was very peaceful indeed during our 2 night stay and is set far enough away from any main roads so that there is no noticeable traffic noise at all. Occasional and very mild aircraft noise presumably from Gatwick airport (the airport being 15 or so miles to the north-east).
The few facilities are basic but well maintained, well lit and kept reasonably clean:
- One gents loo cubicle which also housed the hand basin
- Three ladies loos cubicles, hand basins in the foyer
- Ladies and gents showers
The above all being housed in a pair of seemingly temporary huts of heavy steel construction - much more like 'containers' than portacabins. These huts are located in the upper field - whereas most people are encouraged to camp in the lower field. Alas there is nowhere to shelter while you wait and nowhere to do your washing up :o(
It would appear that no electric hookup points are available.
We didn't spot a chemical disposal point, but didn't really look - worth checking with the site if you really need one.
Water is readily available from an outside tap by the toilet block.
There are no marked pitches or roadways so plenty of room to spread out.
There is no kids play area, but there is at least an old tractor that they can play on (supervision recommended), and tons of space in the middle of the fields for ball games, frisbee, etc.
There are no shops or pubs on-site or in the surrounding area, however the village of Henfield is less than 2 miles distant and is very well served. It has an Alldays-type shop that opens 7am thru 11pm most days, a Chinese takeaway, an Indian and a Kebab shop, as well as a few pubs and tea shops, banks, craft shop and a petrol station, etc…
Pricing was very simple indeed - £4 per person per night irrespective of the kind of camping accommodation, awnings, gazebos or extra vehicles (non-commercial) you choose to bring. Unclear whether there is an extra charge for dogs or whether prices vary by season.
The campsite was very quiet when we were there (a rainy bank holiday weekend) and it seems unlikely that you will need to book much in advance unless facilities are improved. With a little more investment this would be an ideal campsite for almost everyone, but it would probably become busy and lose some of its appeal – peace and quiet and bags of space.
Be aware that the fishing lake was not fenced off. Ditto another pond behind the lower field. This may be a consideration for families with young children. Or heavy drinkers!
The farm offers outdoor caravan storage, however security appeared somewhat lacking.
It is worth noting that Henfield is on the "Downslink" cycle track, which is mostly a former railway running from Guildford to Shoreham. Blacklands Farm might well serve as a good stopover for cyclists.
We really enjoyed our stay despite the lack of many of the more usual campsite facilities. The location was almost idyllic and the owner, Grahame, was very friendly and easy going.
We will almost certainly be heading back to Blacklands Farm for a weekend in the summer.

We have just returned after spending a weekend at the campsite. We had a very pleasant stay, there are 2 massive fields for camping and there is a carp lake right at the bottom of the bottom field
the campsite is very clean and quiet ( no litter ) with bins provided
the shower rooms & toilets are very clean and smell fresh which is great.
The lake is lovely with ducks & fish.
There are places which are nice for walking
Henfield is just up the road for shopping & pubs etc
Thanks for a lovely stay

A very pretty and quite site with lovely views over fishing lakes and fields. The facilities are basic and a bit of a distance from the tents but for a couple of nights it no big deal and I guess its reflected in the very cheap price. The farmer/manager was very friendly and helpful. Lots to do and see in the area. For those who like camping 'cowboy style' its perfect.
