 Very nice camping site
Nice and quiet
Good fishing good for £5 a day, I pulled in 8 lb carp

Not far from shops plus Indian take away delivery to site

Friendly site. Site kept Clean and tidy.
Fishing good.
Nice and near York City and other places of interest.
Showers alright but could do with a update.

This is probably our 3rd Visit to Wagtails, As ever Pete meets and greets you gets you to your pitch,
The site was its usual well kept site and was in really good condition considering the drought we have had even the grass was still pretty green.
Toilet block is clean and kept clean throughout the day. We did a few days fishing on the lake and again the work that's gone in to maintaining the lake and pegs shows.
As ever great relaxing break in a real nice site.
Anyone not from the area its on the outside of York itself but its located close to major routes, we went to Flamingo land on one day but have also used this site to go to Wolddies, Edon Camp, Pickering and North Yorks Moors Railway. You can even pop to the coast without too much of a drive.
Also just round the Corner is Thompsons Fish and Chips, they were also very good if you want an easy meal.

Such a clean and friendly site.
Facilities are amazing and nothing is too much trouble.
Just outside of York for easy access.
Shopping and restaurants close by.

This site is a very clean and well kept.
Very little levelling up to do
Toilets and showers were adequate
Fishing with plenty of pegs around the lake.
I have to add one criticism and that is the chemical waste area is a real disgrace it looks as though it has never been cleaned. Just one point that lets the site down. The only reason I wouldn't go there again.

Wagtail campsite was an idyllic place to spend a few nights away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
On arrival I was greeted by the owner who showed me to my pitch and explained where the local amenities could be found ( there's a large shopping centre a few minutes away by car where you'll find large chain supermarkets and retail outlets) and the best ways of travelling into York centre (park and ride been the best option as it's probably cheaper than paying for parking and without the hassle of driving, although that would depend on how many there are in your group. )
Toilets, showers and pots and pans cleaning area were nice and clean. There were nice little touches around the site too such as weather vanes, solar lights. Owl nesting boxes (oh and owls in an aviary)
My pitch was located next to the fishing lake and as a solo traveler, I wasn't short on people to chat to as they went about their fishing hobby. The lake also had a very soothing water flow that had me drifting off to sleep in what was a very quiet location.
There was plenty room to exercise dogs too so would be a great spot for anyone travelling with their pets.
For me it's 10 out of 10

Great relaxing site, plenty of room, good facilities.
Close to shops and York Centre will definitely return.
A little pricey compared to ones stayed at previously.

Lovely open site, well kept, great disabled unit.
We were lucky with the weather which made it even better!
Easy reach of York, shopping, castle Howard, Scarborough etc.
Had a thoroughly fabulous time and will definitely return.

I only stayed for a night but I was greeted on arrival and shown to a spacious lakeside grass pitch.
I could park my vehicle on my pitch.
The site was peaceful and immaculate site with modern facilities.

Stayed here for one night during our onward journey North. On arrival, the owner/manager seemed confused as to who we were (even though I had just spoken to him to get a gate code on the way) and proceeded to give us tonnes of information about where we could visit, even though we were only staying for one night. He seemed to think we had already paid when I offered him the payment. I explained we hadn't paid yet.
We were shown to a pitch with electric hookup even though we didn't plug in and were not charged for that. It didn't really matter as only there one night. Not being personal here but just pointing this out as it may be that someone wants the type of pitch they are offered so they may need to find some sort of way of making sure the site don't get the booking confused with someone else's - which is what I think may have happened here.
The facilities blocks were very clean but I think the provision would be stretched if the site were full. The metal door on the front became boiling hot in the heat and, consequently, the facilities got very warm. The CDP needs a good clean and there was no water tap to rinse anything afterwards so it wasn't very hygienic.
Pitches were not marked out in the area we were staying. Despite signs saying no ball games, kids were playing ball games and hit a campervan. Despite signs saying dogs on leads, dogs were off leads. There was constant road noise and we just didn't find it very peaceful. You need a car if you are staying for any length of time as nothing is walkable to nearby.
The site itself is pretty and there are fishing lakes and lots of wildlife. There are also some owls in aviaries which is great for children.

Easy to get to from the A64, this site is well landscaped and quite attractive. It has a good dog walk.
The facilities were clean.
The site was tidy. Good fishing in the pond which has a good variety of species and is very well looked after. I caught bream tench and carp.
Wagtail park has a good location near to the park and ride into York and the large Monks Cross shopping centre.
I enjoyed my stay and I will revisit.
The only downside is the lack of a footpath to walk from the site so the car is needed but it’s near enough to York to use taxis which were reasonably priced. There are takeaways nearby which deliver to the site barrier.
Good site, recommended.

Fabulous pitches and very well maintained.
Brilliant meet and greet from Pete who always gives the best advice.
Fishing is also great and son and husband just disappeared for a few very successful sessions.
Toilet black and showers are also clean and well kept.
Plenty of room for washing up and recycling.
Fab place!
Maybe if you are in a pop top bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper as there is some early morning traffic noise - nothing major!
Perfect for an Uber into York or the park and ride!

First time in our touring caravan, the owner of the campsite was very friendly, helpful and informative.
Lovely campsite, quiet and excellent clean hot showers.

Nice, open site. A convenient spot if you want to visit York.
Showers were great, although I would have expected to have a spot to load my powerbank - not a socket to be found. Luckily Peter allowed me to use one at an unused camping pods for this.
The only real setback were the roads nearby. You could hear the traffic all night long. The area wasn't suitable for hiking either.
It was the most expensive camping I stayed during this vacation.

Lovely site,
Peter was a very helpful host,
Everything was clean and tidy,
Easy access into York by taxi which Peter also helped with,
Would highly recommend Wagtail Park.
