Please note we have been advised that this site has closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches, although they still have the tree house for rental. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks
We stayed here just for one night and we made an excellent choice. Dave the owner had sent us very clear directions prior to our visit and a comprehensive list of local amenities.
We had a very level hard standing pitch with lovely views. I adore waking up and opening the blinds to see open spaces, here I had a field of lovely sheep to see.
The area is beautiful and we enjoyed driving out to nearby Canterbury for sightseeing.
I definitely recommend this lovely little site for a peaceful nights sleep in a lovely area.
Stayed three nights over the weekend. Dave, the owner, was friendly and helpful. Very nice small site, about 12 units, used mainly for stop-overs, it seems, with units turning up late and going early for the ferry/tunnel. Well looked after with lots of animals around: sheep, chickens and a cockerel, pigmy goat and little piglets. Heard cockerel at various times during the early morning. Toilets are one male and one female, plus one shower and one sink in the same space. No hot water at sink, or hand drying. No hot water at washing up sink. All very basic. We had our own loo but friends in a tent and in the 'gypsy caravan' had to use the loo which was often in use and not very clean. The 'gypsy caravan', which I booked for friends who had their caravan stolen, is a tiny version of a gypsy caravan built on a small trailer. It's a good job our friends are small! It was clean and tidy, but during the second night it rained very heavily and the canvas roof leaked, making all their bedding wet. There wasn't enough room to move and the bed is fixed so they had to stay in it. They - not surprisingly - decided not to stay the third night and when we told Dave he said that you shouldn't put things near the edges, like a tent. As the beds went to the edge, there wasn't a lot of option. Eventually he gave £30 back. We can't understand why he charged £100 for three nights, and gave £30 back. I was quoted £30 pn on the phone but Dave insisted on arrival that it was £100?? Doesn't even divide! The caravan and tent pitches were very reasonably priced due, I suppose to the lack of facilities. I doubt if we'll return.
We stayed at the Lodge Campsite for 7 nights and loved it. I had the best nights sleep every night as so very quiet at night. The site is small but that is what we wanted. Owners very friendly and helpful and we were able to buy fresh eggs laid by the resident chickens.
The only drawback, if it bothers you is there is no reception for phone unless on EE. Didn't bother us though as loved the break from it!
Set in 500 acres of beautiful, rolling Kent countryside. The Oast village on site is the World's largest Oast house collection and makes for a spectacular backdrop. Grass and hardstanding pitches for caravans, tents and motorhomes with electric option. Modern toilets and showers and multiple washing up facilities.
Small shop onsite and pub/restaurant at the entrance. The River Medway flows through the site, providing idyllic waterside pitches. Make the most of the location and try your hand at canoeing or fishing or simply sit back, unwind and enjoy wildlife spotting. Five minutes' drive from Paddock Wood station and trains to London Find out more here
We've just returned from a fantastic 2 week stay. The site is little more than a well kept field with a small (but perfectly formed) wash block. That said, that was exactly what were after! A totally uncommercialised chill out. The owners are lovely & made us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived. It is set in a beautiful rural area, perfect for walking & cycling, with a pub just 10 minutes away across the field, & a petrol station, with a reasonable stock of groceries, just up the road. There is also so much to see in the area, being well within an hours drive Folkestone, Dover, Canterbury, Ashford, etc. The area has many 'seaside' towns & a good peppering of NT & EH sites. We will definitely be back.

P. S. Don't go by the Google Earth aerial views, these are so old they do not show the campsite.
This is a good, quiet, basic site and the owners were friendly. A pub and filling station are conveniently close by. There is good provision of electric hook-up points.
My only reservation concerns the toilet/shower facilities which, while clean, may not be sufficient in busy periods. I would say this is a good site for caravans/motorhomes with their own showers/WCs but if the place was full of people in tents there would be problems.
Excellent site for an overnight stop for the Channel Tunnel, we stayed there 8th of August this year, arrived around dinner time, electric hook up, adequate toilet, sink and shower facility along with dish washing facility, went to a local pub called the George for lunch, which was lovely and fresh and only a 15 minute walk with young kids.
Would stay here again for a crossing to France, literally less than 10 minutes from the crossing.
Welcoming and friendly gentleman owner.
Recycling available, chemical disposable available on site too.
We were in a caravan, but others in tents on site, fairly level ground.
We stayed overnight at The Lodge Camping as it is very convenient for the Channel Tunnel. We have stayed at other local sites prior to travelling to France over the past 7 years, but this has been the best.
The owners were very welcoming and the site is dog friendly with a dog walk on site. This is going to be a favourite for us in the future and the chance to pick up fresh eggs in the morning as we head off to France was fabulous.
Definitely recommended for a overnight stay and longer.
My wife and I stayed here for the August Bank Holiday and have a lovely time. The owners were really friendly and helpful, showing us where the local amenities were. Nice and peaceful and quiet which was lovely. We also loved the local Pub which was in walking distance from the site, and had a nice selection of meals and was also Dog friendly. We would recommend this site and will definitely be staying there again.
