Lovely site with great lakeside views and peace and quiet.
A long walk for facilities and rubbish bins. Another tap would be a good idea.
But, location for views and quiet hard to beat

What a great little off grid site this is.
We pitched right by the lake. Not even 6ft away from the water's edge
The weather was good but the lake was epic. We've already booked to go back next weekend.

An amazing view from the campsite right on the waters edge. Toilets are a bit of a trek but the little woodland path was nice. It was really muddy during our stay so you need wellies to get to the toilets.
My main bugbear is the track to the campsite. My car has low clearance (sadly it's a toyota auris not a ferrari) especially when fully loaded with camping gear.
The track was not great, quite stressful trying to avoid the ruts, gravel ramps and big rocks from hitting the bottom of my car. It needs some attention.

We used one of the hard based green tents in an adjacent field to the main site. Was brilliant in the strong winds and rain, very spacious for the 3 of us and all our stuff.
Boggy areas need some stones on them as many cars and vans were struggling. Open fires Allowed and needed to warm up!
Near clean toilets and hot showers, no power points. 2 big sinks to wash up. Fantastic lake access and walks.
Very friendly and helpful staff, especially duty manager Steve. He kindly inflated grandsons bike tyre and advised on walks.
Loved our stay despite the horrid weather and will be back.

Directly by lake Windermere on a great site with beautiful views - relaxed site - self check in by txt (you will be sent details by email prior to your stay), find your own spot, pitch up and enjoy your stay.
Toilets were a little walk away which was absolutely fine for us.
Very good for a very chilled overnight stay

Brilliant, what a fantastic site. So relaxed, perfect for families.
Great for water sports, kayaking, paddle boarding. Clean and friendly.
Great for dogs who like to swim too.

You could not find a more beautiful location. You can camp as close to the waters edge as you like and it's a real bonus being able to have a campfire.
Access to the field needs sorting out, there are some very deep, muddy puddles and potholes and opening and shutting the gate to the road is a real issue if you are travelling alone. The drainage on the actual field is also a problem but if you get dry weather none of this is an issue.
The shower blocks leave a lot to be desired but the water was hot and they did the job. It wasn't good that at 10am in the morning, out of about 6 toilet cubicles there was not one piece of toilet roll.
For £25 a night with no EHU there is no excuse for this. Trying to book via the website was incredibly difficult and unnecessarily complicated. When I phoned the office the first person I spoke to simply would not help. I rang back and got a different person who was extremely helpful and talked. Me through the process. This really needs sorting out as it should not be so difficult.
Overall the positives far outweighed the negatives as long as you are prepared to end up with a muddy vehicle and are not too fussy about shower facilities. Just remember this is a charitable organisation with probably little money to fix some of the above although much of it is fixable at no or little cost.
We will definitely go back there as it is very rare to find somewhere with immediate access to the lake and to be able to have a fire.

The Location of the campsite and whole facility is amazing when the weather is nice.
You have a great view of the lake and the mountains in the background.
You have access to the lake and to the grounds of the whole area which makes for a nice walk. We were a group of young adults 21-24 and it was a great place to visit.
We will definitely be visiting again.
