Had such a great time at this campsite! Carl and Beth were brilliant hosts – really welcoming and friendly, and clearly care about making sure everyone has a good experience.
The location is gorgeous – right by the Avalon Marshes with loads of bird hides nearby, perfect if you’re into nature or just want some peace and quiet. It’s a great spot for couples, families, or a group of friends.
We loved the cycling – there’s a flat, traffic-free route straight to Glastonbury, and it links up easily with Route 3 which takes you along some really quiet, scenic country roads.
Facilities were spotless, and the showers were lovely and hot – always a bonus after a long day out! Also worth mentioning The Bird pub in nearby Westhay – really friendly.
No children with us so can't comment on child friendliness but the kids there seemed to be having a whale of a time.
All in all, a brilliant place to stay. We’ll definitely be back! via mobile
We stayed at Station Farm (Westhay, near Meare / Glastonbury) from Tuesday to Friday, and it was pure magic — peaceful, uninterrupted, and perfect for our little family.
A few highlights:
We had the place almost to ourselves, just there from Tuesday through Friday morning, quietly camping and soaking it all in.
Each of us had our own kayak to explore the long, still stretch of water right by the campsite (best described as a slow-moving river — calm and dreamy).
The farm is full of life: chickens, pigs, a cockerel, horses, and even a bat shed set up by a bats-preservation charity — such a thoughtful touch.
Carl and Bethan were brilliant hosts: generous with firewood and let us use a fire stand; there was a fridge-freezer, sinks for washing up, and showers with 24-hour hot water. Exactly what you need on a camping trip.
For our son Patrick — who’s autistic — it was brilliant. There’s a red double-deck bus in the corner of the field (all seats removed) that became his fortress of fun, plus toys everywhere: trampoline, go-cart, play kitchen, mini toys — perfect for different ages.
They’ve also created a wildlife school for kids and scattered creative sculptures all around (imagine 10-foot robots, welded from scrap — Carl really has an eye for fun, imaginative design).
We discovered an apple orchard and so much more to explore.
Competition aside, this was by far the most memorable, peaceful, and family-friendly camping experience we’ve ever had.
Thank you, Carl and Bethan, for everything — your kindness, creativity, and making it feel like home.
