 One of the best sites I have stayed on this year, the shower and toilet block is one of the best I have ever seen.
Small shop on site that sells all the basics.
Bus stop outside site for bus into york or selby. 2 mile down road is york designer outlet and park and ride.
Nice walk along river from site.

A lovely site that is well set out and has all of the amenities close to hand. Plenty of grey water, fresh water and bins around the site, not as many black waste points.
Toilets and showers were first class - spot on. Simple walk-in showers, toilets and sink but immaculately presented and spotlessly clean - well done!
Some great walks along the river and a nice place for a cuppa or a cold drink too. Short drive to York, or to the Park and Ride. A great central place to use as a base!
We'll be back!

Lovely site and a great location for visiting York or the designer outlet.
The facilities are absolutely top class and the best I have stayed at in a long while.
We stayed on a fully serviced pitch which was fine BUT do take extra long water pipes as in the email we received it did say that the water and electric could be up to 5 metres away when in fact I would say more like 10 metres, no problem as I had a 20 meter electric cable but ended up having to join 2 8 meter water pipes to reach caravan.
Apart from that minor criticism, a well kept and maintained site and will definitely visit again.

I would highly recommend this campsite. They have everything you need.
Location: perfect (to my eyes) really good location, near city center, good walk, easy to get around
Facilities: they have a new shower/toilet block, which is really nicely maintained, clean and spacious. Washing up area, shop (at reasonable price), dig exercise park (they have 2), located at the lock. They have some take away food coming to site in certain days. Plenty of water station for your refill. EHU on pitches. I think a few pitches can be fully serviced, but we don't really used them as it is easy enough to refill the water
Price: I think it is ok, maybe in the expensive side but it is so well maintained and ideal for adults (adults only park)
Pitches: we only used grass pitches (been a few times now), level and nice. But you can have hardstand pitch too
I can't find any cons
Would I recommend it: hell yes!

Lovely site with fabulous facilities we stayed in super pitch which had its own picnic table and fire pit.
Pitches are huge and well spaced out.
Check in was by Rachel who explained electricity set up which was new to us she was a star that day, thank you so much.
Electricity was metered you are given £3 preloaded in your card for every night you stay.
After 5 nights with fridge, TV, some cooking and charging we still had £4. 80 left in meter.
So overall a lovely site and we would highly recommend.

Absolutely brilliant site.
Cannot fault anything. The new shower block is amazing and like a 5 star hotel. Always spotlessly clean too.
Good phone signal too (Vodafone)
The area by the lock is lovely with great walks and cycle routes on the doorstep.
The bus into York literally stops outside the entrance.
The managers are lovely too.
Spacious pitches (some are shaded) we had one and wish we had moved!
Outstanding site.
The best campsite we have stayed in by far.
Everything about this site is brilliant.

We came to this site years ago but it has now changed hands.
The site is split into two parts. Very clean and cared for site if you are on the side with hard standing pitches. If like us you are in the non EHU camping field things are different.
The field is lumpy, with grassless patches, sloping ground and the grass had not been cut recently. Certainly not worth the £38/night we paid, even with the lovely new facilities. Another campervan changed pitch seemingly after not being able to level up, even with chocs.
Facilities block immaculate and new. Male and Female toilet facilities with separate unisex shower block. The shower block has plenty of individual units with lockable full door, unlimited water (no charge or push button), adjustable temperature and shower strength.
The units also have a large vanity unit with mirror and a pull down wall seat for those of us of a certain age becoming unsteady on our legs! Hairdryer available for ladies in the toilet block. Spoiled by dirty users leaving soiled toilet bowls and paper all over the cubicle floor.
Some people are just disgusting and I feel for the site owners having to clean up after them and the money they have spent on the top class facilities.
Wash up unit indoors with 4 washing machines (payable). On site shop has basics, reasonably priced. All site staff lovely and friendly. Excellent recycling facilities. Water and Elsan points easily available anywhere on site. We had no problem with noise, even from the road.
You have to pay up front in full prior to arrival for this site (never had to do this camping anywhere else) but this is not made clear on booking or the confirmation email.
Would we return? No, too expensive for us for the pitch we had. Only here to meet up with family members so we paid the once.

This was our 4th visit over several years including when the previous owners were in charge.
Unfortunately the new facilities block wasn't open when we visited but we had a discount on fees and free electricity to compensate.
There were still elsan points available. We had a great time the pitches are a good size and well spaced and most are fully serviced as far as I'm aware.
The staff are an absolute credit to the place, very friendly and helpful.
There's a bus stop right at the entrance to take you either to York or Selby and the designer outlet is only a short drive away.
All in all we had a lovely few days here and would highly recommend it especially as it's adult only.

Lovely site, easy to get to, come off the A64 on to A19 300yrds turn into Naburn road and 3 miles you're there !
Clean tidy and very quiet. Wardens really friendly, accessible and helpful.
We were on a serviced pitch, lots of space, there's no loo block at the moment as a new one is under construction.
The road is not so busy but you can hear traffic. Bus stop outside the entrance, park and ride/ designer outlet shops 10mins in car, close to the river.
Local pub is a 15min walk into village. Trans pennine walkway/cycle way is also in village on disused railway line.
We will be going again.

Lovely peaceful site with huge pitch for the tent.
Great drainage and level ground.
Plenty of toilets and good showers with enough space to dress.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Really nice relaxed feel and slept brilliantly every night.
Great for visiting York and the county.

Being a ‘Tranquil site’ we expected peace but we’re very disappointed, the noise from the traffic on the busy road right next to the site is quite bad, and whilst we were there there was music playing VERY loudly from somewhere nearby, maybe a large party or some gathering.
The main problem however are the facilities, only 4 showers for each of the male and female guests which are the tiniest showers I have ever used, although they are clean, you cannot move around in them and there is no where to get dressed without getting all your clothing wet, it was also very difficult to regulate the temperature of the water.
We were pitched in what seemed to be a spare field for mainly tents, and the grass obviously hadn’t been cut for weeks. At £39 per night it was extremely disappointing and we will not be returning.

Nice site close to river Ouse. Bus stop outside every 2 hours Monday to Saturday no bus Sunday or bank holidays. However there is a river boat from the lock to York on Saturday and Sunday.
Fully serviced pitches are close to the road and suffer from some traffic noise. Could be worse though.
Washroom blocks are a bit dated but there is some promise of an upgrade at some point. They were clean though.
Good dog walk, on site and a circular walk towards Naburn off site. There seems to be little actual river path on this side to walk along.
The local pub, The Blacksmiths Arms was ok, but we only went for a drink.

We enjoyed our stay from the minute we arrived.
What wasn’t to like
The pitches are a good size and easily accessible
The facilities were spotless
The walk to the River Taxi at the lock is a leisurely one although could be better signed
On visit the local we were made very welcome
Will certainly be visiting this site again

Brilliant owners as asked if it would be possible for friends to be on an adjacent pitch and that was sorted. We arrived as the floods were apparent and the river Ouse was very high. And during our stay went down to the locks each day to marvel at the different water levels.
As it was the day the Christmas markets started in York the site was very busy but as usual the site was very clean and the facilities block clean and after the first night was very warm. We had planned to go into Selby but in the end went for a walk instead, plenty of places to explore locally.
The bus stop is right outside the site.
The on site shop is very well stocked with all the esentialls and had some christmas goodies. Mulled wine and mince pies on first night.
We were here in September and will return.
