Great place thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Facilities were clean and the wardens were friendly and welcoming

Outstanding views and under the night sky the stars looked amazing along with the tranquillity of nature.

A short trip and you have access to shops for any essentials and could even hear the trains in Minehead station as well as watch them steam towards Dunster in the distance

Will be back for another visit for sure.

What a wonderful site! Amazing and friendly owners with a well laid out, clean and tidy site.

Lots of space for the kids to run round including a lovely little play nook!

The views were absolutely amazing on this lovely bit of exmoor, a short walk to town down the hill through some lovely woodland was just stunning.

Site was well run and everyone was cheery n friendly.

Loved it and we will be back as much as possible! (The dog loved it too)

Such a great campsite with amazing views and lovely walks!

Owners are super friendly, welcoming and easily contactable!

Stayed with my partner and friends and was honestly such a great relaxing atmosphere!

As it’s literally up a hill some pitches were slanted but we used our car ramps and it was perfectly fine (the view definitely makes up for it)

We liked it so much we came back the following weekend in the roof tent and with family, definitely will be coming back as much as I can!

Very noisy on the Saturday night with loud voices until late at night. Also noisy early in the morning with vehicles sounding their horn and children/dogs not being kept quiet.

The owners didn't seem to be around at these times or if they were no effort made to keep the noise down.

The gates were not locked at all at night either. A far cry from when it was a Camping and Caravan Club site.

Please note, this site us now under new management, and is now known as Moor Wood Campsite. It was previously known as Minehead Camping and Caravanning Club Site - note the club have no involvement in the site any more.

Another visit to this lovely site. Definitely one of our favourites for short stays.

Rocked up to a nice welcome from the warden who was helpful.

We like to take one of the pitches upstairs and this time we were on our own for our whole stay. This site is usually quiet.

Lavatory/shower block always very clean but as noted elsewhere they could do with a refurb.

No play area but there is a dog walk which a Hungarian Vizla I spoke to said was ok.

Strangely. Although this dog walk exists some members liked to walk up to the upper part of the site to have their dog do what was needed. Not great when you’re eating dinner.

If you turn right out of the gate you come to a small parade of shops with, I think, Asian, Oriental and fish and chip takeaway. There is a bakers and Co-op store also a vet and undertakers if you should have the need.

Well worth your time is a walk through the back roads to Minehead itself. There are some beautiful 1930s style houses with lovely gardens in the right season and only takes 15/20 minutes. A cut through about 10 o’clock across main road at main gate will start you off.

The town itself is a typical seaside town past it’s glory days but we like it. Lots of restaurants and cafes (we previously recommended “Cream” but this time left before ordering)

Otherwise it’s typical seaside tat shops and charity shops. Great for books and CDs.

We usually walk down to the front and along to the harbour. We tried twice but there was an icy wind so we turned tail and a smart walk got us back to the ‘van and an excellent heater.

Dunster is lovely as is Lynton and Lynmouth. In season there is a great funicular railway.

Great site for a short stay. You can even hear the sea lions at night.

The site was immaculate, well spaced out, welcoming.

Bathrooms were fantastic, lots of space in the cubicles for showering my children. Toilets always clean. Washing up facilities, laundry area.

The staff we all friendly and welcoming too.

The view was insanely beautiful even with the bad weather we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and didn't want to leave!

A great little site hanging on the side of North Hill, looking out over Minehead and Bridgewater Bay.

Once you have overcome the steep, winding hill on the way to the site (which explains why caravans are not allowed) you are welcomed by the friendly staff and taken to your pitch.

Most of the pitches are on slopes so you will need your leveling ramps but the hardstanding pitches with a hook up are fairly level.

Tent campers will need to pick their spot carefully but the wardens help you find the best pitch for your needs.

The site is quiet, the facilities block is spotless and the views are fantastic. There are interesting walks starting from the site (if you can manage hills) and plenty of places to visit locally.

On dark, clear might the skies are fantastic with the moon and stars clearly visible.

The sunset and sun rises can also be quite spectacular.

A spotlessly clean and well maintained site with really friendly staff and fantastic views from North Hill out over the bay containing Minehead, Dunster Blue Anchor and Watchet.

The site is on a steep hill with narrow roads meaning that touring caravans can't visit but tents, trailer tents and motorhomes are welcome and there are also a small number of permanent chalet type tents. Make sure that you take your levelling ramps as the site is on the side of a hill and slopes.

The busy town of Minehead is only a couple of miles away and walking there is easy but you need to be very fit to walk up the hill to get back so you might want to consider a taxi.

Further afield you can roam all over the NT owned North Hill, visit Exmoor or explore the countryside, beaches and villages of West Somerset and North Devon.

Sloping site with few level pitches. The road up to the site is very narrow and twisty.

The staff were super friendly, excellent facilities which were all free to use. Beware, the toilets are closed between 11 & 12 every day for cleaning.

Lovely rabbits share the site, so may not be suitable for dogs that chase. Fantastic walks nearby. The walk down to Greenaleigh Sands is through woodland, grassland and onto the beach. We then walked to Minehead.

The walk is tough coming back up and is around 8 miles in all. Don’t bother visiting Burgandy Chapel, apart from the doorway, it’s just a pile of rubble and quite a distance off the path to Greenaleigh Sands.

Final word - TAKE TICK HOOKS WITH YOU - I eventually managed to get tick hooks from Tesco pharmacy but the dogs came back with 16 ticks between the two of them. Luckily we humans didn’t get any. Keep trousers tucked into socks when walking on the moors and through woodland!
