Car Seat Protectors and Pet Hammocks

Travelling with pets can often present a problem, especially if you don't have a hatchback or estate, or if your bootspace is full! Dirty dogs have to sit on your seats or in a footwell, but the Roofbox company may have the perfect solution - they stock a wide range of pet covers suitable for both front and rear seats, which help keep your upholstery safe from dog claws, drool, and dirt.

We took a look at two fantastic covers which provide different options for when you are out and about with your pets. Both models are constructed from extremely durable quilted polycanvas, making them very tough, water resistant, washable and comfortable.
EB Rear Seat Protector

With the EB Rear Seat Protector you can keep your seats clean and tidy whilst still being able to use the seats for humans too, so your dog can sit alongside your family members. The cost at the time of writing is just £44.95, but don't forget our exclusive discount below!

This and the Hammock feature a non-slip EVA mesh on the underside and ingenious neoprene belts to ensure that the two loose corners are solidly anchored to the seat. The clever headrest belts can be used to cross around the seat shoulders if your vehicle does not have headrests plus the simple to use tucking tabs ensure a snug and secure fit.
EB Rear Seat Hammock Protector

If you prefer to give your pet full reign over the rear seats then the EB Rear Hammock is the perfect product for you! No more sliding off the rear seat into the footwell. This larger cover costs £59.95 - but again you can use our discount voucher code below to make it even cheaper.

Shares the same clever design features such as nonslip mesh on the underside, and neoprene securing belts.

Both designs are available in three colours - anthracite , grey and tan - and in two sizes, standard and XL depending on your requirements.

What makes EB seat protectors so special?

(1) They are thicker than covers that are designed for human use - they need to withstand claws as well as wet and mud, and

(2) the backing layer includes anti-slip mesh to prevent the covers moving around on the seats (e.g. when being 'raked' by dogs as they settle down) and also neoprene 'belts' which, when wrapped around seat corners, provide exceptional stability.
  • Made from 1680D Oxford fabric
  • Easy to fit and remove
  • Non-slip EVA mesh on the underside
  • Wide neoprene belts secure around edge of seat base
  • Tucking inserts fit snugly between seat base and backrest
  • Water resistant and washable
  • Suitable for side airbags as they donít cover the sides of the seat

I use a rear seat protector all the time in my car (not this make). I have a small dog and without the protector the seats would no doubt be a mess. I rarely carry passengers so it is no problem leaving it there but if you carry passengers regularly it might be a bit of a nuisance having to keep taking it off and putting it back again although they are easy enough to fit. They usually have slits so that dog harnesses can be fitted to seat belt clips and it looks as if these do as well. I leave it in when camping and don't bother folding the seat down. It protects the seats from damage by such things as camping chairs and other equipment. Not sure I like the RRP of this one but they seem to be a lot cheaper on the website. I wouldn't be without mine now.

Protectors are fine as you can still fasten your dog into the seatbelt but I wouldn't use the hammock. You have a crash and that unsecured dog is going to fly through the windscreen probably killing it and also injuring any passengers in its path. I'm lucky as I have a van so mine travel in secure crates but if I have to go in someone else's car they get fastened in with a harness and seatbelt clip.

Both the protector and the hammock have holes to access the seatbelt, so your dog will be fastened in securely should you wish. You can see these in the photo of the hammock above. (obv these particular images are staged for the photos so the dog isn't in a harness, but of course usually would be when used in anger)

HOW MUCH?? Ours came from B&M for £3.99. It has holes for the harness to clip to the seat belt and also a zip so you can use it just on one side. Ok so it isn't as fancy as the one above but it does the job.

Same here, bought mine from Lidl and although not as fancy, does the same job,I bought three,so can wash one down while using one of the others,(one in the OH's car)I put a blanket on top,the OH sowed straps on that in the same place as the hammock,so it doesn't move,I also put the dog bed in for them.
