I am new to this site and just after a bit of help with an idea I have.
I am getting married in July 2015 and want a field/marquee wedding with camping for the guests (well most of them). After looking into famers fields etc I have thought about renting out a campsite for 3 days that would allow a marquee to be erected and a 'wedding' (we will already be officially married so are not after a registered venue) to take place.
Do you think this would be a viable idea or know anywhere where they would be willing to do this.
I live in Warrington but am obviously willing to travel in a 40mile radius.
Any info or thoughts you have will be greatly accepted.

Maybe a campsite which accepts rallies? One way to find those sites might be to look at the local district associations of the camping and caravan club as see where they hold their rallies.
------------- From tents to trailer tents to a tin tent to an air tent to trailer tent and back to tin tent!
Can't help, I'm afraid.... But just wanted to say what a bloody good way to get everybody together for a few days, without having folk back out due to expense etc.
If it don't turn out to be an absolute hoot, I'll eat my balaclava! (Don't ask!)
I wish you luck, Sarah..... and plenty of sunshine too, of course!
Gibralta Farm, Silverdale has a 10 acre ancient woodland for group bookings. I remember a wedding party there a few years ago. Only thing is though, it is more than 40 miles from Warrington (about 60 miles).
My son got married a couple of years ago and we held the reception at Stowford Meadows in North Devon. It was brilliant we used their barn with bar supplied and finished off with a hog roast. Most of the guests stayed on for a weeks holiday. John

In Scotland, as far as I know, it's the person doing the wedding that is registered, not the location. So some friends got married at the top of their favourite mountain. Another friend's getting married on a beach on Islay in a few months. Same time last year the beach was under snow, so we're keeping our fingers crossed! Don't know how it works in England, but you could maybe have the ceremony in the same place? candle light, gazebo decorated, bunting on tents, ivy garlands, wellies... Whatever and where-ever, it'll be wonderful and memorable. Lovely idea.
we stayed somewhere near Skipton, Riverside campsite in Cononly, right beside the railway with some statics and a pod, and they accepted large groups. There might have even been a separate field that you could use if you are a large enough group? Best thing would be to phone and chat to them, as they were very accommodating when we stayed a couple of years ago for a 40th, and let us put up a small marquee for no extra cost. Ribble
I am currently looking into campsites that allow rallies. I have found the places that cater especially for weddings end up being a little above my budget (add wedding onto the end of anything and the price flies up)
Rivendale in the Peak district do Weddings, they also have pods and yurts to rent out, look on their website. Its not too far from Warrington to travel. J x
