Description

Michael and Teenie Harcus would like to welcome you to their family run campsite in Westray, Orkney - Queen of the isles. Originally a working farm belonging to Michael`s family, Chalmersquoy now concentrates on offering good accommodation and a friendly welcome.
The campsite is two paddocks to the rear of the original farm buildings and sheltered by earth banks.
The campsite welcomes tents, caravans and motor homes.
There are 12 hardstanding pitches, along with 16 electric hook-ups, showers, toilets, laundry facilities and a fully equipped kitchen with hob, microwave and fridge.
There is also a chemical waste point.
Dogs are welcome on the campsite
Michael and Teenie have a large facility for storage so can offer their guests storage for larger items like bikes, motorbikes, kayaks, surfboards etc.
The grass is very lush and well maintained.
The campsite offers views of the sea and the green hills around it.
There`s a village cafe in the village nearby and shops within walking distance.
Located on the edge of a gorgeous bay, with opportunities to spot wildlife, take in Westray`s beaches and visit the traditional village nearby for craft shops, fresh food and good entertainment, there`s plenty of activities around.
Nearby Attractions
Situated on the edge of Pierowall Village, the campsite is a short walk away from all the local amenities. In the village you will find two amazingly well stocked shops (selling fresh local bread), a hotel which offers good homemade food, a heritage centre, a fantastic fish merchant (with an added bonus of fish and chips on Wednesdays and Saturdays), a swimming pool, a fitness centre, a cafe, children`s play park and local craft shops.
Other local attractions are not far away. The beaches and coastline are well worth a wander not forgetting Noup Head cliffs and bird reserve, Noltland Castle and the Castle o`Burrian where the puffins are in plentiful supply.
Round of your afternoon with a coffee at Saintear or the Wheeling Steen Gallery and you will be relaxed and in full holiday mode in no time.
