After Wareham follow the A351 towards Swanage. After passing through the village of Corfe Castle (National Trust) turn right towards Worth Matravers. Go up a steep hill following the road round to the left at The Scott Arms pub (very good food including a Jerk Shack cooking Caribbean food at weekends). Take the next right towards Worth Matravers. When entering the village turn right at the Square and Compass, go past the duck pond and church and keep going along Weston Road for 400m. At the farm yard there is a sign for the campsite which is round a sharp bend on the right.
The local pub is the world famous "Square and Compass" which regularly features as one of the most unspoilt pubs in England. It has award- winning real ales and ciders and also has regular music nights. The stone-carving festival is also a popular attraction in the summer. www.squareandcompasspub.co.uk Winspit caves and beach are a mile away. Ideal for deep water swimming and exploring a disused Portland quarry site. It has been used as a filming location for scenes in Dr Who, Blake's 7 and, more recently, the Disney film, John Carter of Mars. It is also the location for Chris de Burgh's Moonfleet. St Aldhelm's Chapel (a Norman chapel on the cliff edge) is well worth a visit. Nearby is a RAF radar memorial as Worth Matravers was an important radar base during WW2.
