 This was our third visit to Sheriff Hutton and it won’t be our last. Arriving on site we were met by friendly staff. Shown to our pitch and also offered another if we preferred, which we took.
This site is never untidy. The facilities are always spotless.
There are lots of places to visit from the site. With a Park and Ride 15/20 minutes away to take you into York city centre and the railway station, and other stops too. There is a Tesco express and a Boots chemist, 10 minutes away in Strensall.
We love this site. We don’t usually visit a site more than once, but we will keep returning to Sheriff Hutton. It is a lovely peaceful site. We have no negatives at all.
Thank you Sheriff Hutton for a lovely holiday, again! As always 10/10. 😊

Friendly staff - the warmest welcome we have had in ages. Well organized and maintained site. Pitches level.
The pitches around the outside of the "ring road" will get some shelter & shade from the hedges, those in the middle will be much more exposed to sun and wind.
Only a very small playground and no obvious place to play football or frisbee. No off the lead dog walking area either.
Surrounded by a working farm: two evenings dominated by tractor noise until 10pm-ish. Also some road noise from surprisingly busy minor road adjacent.
Toilet block clean. Plenty of hot water. Reception open morning & evening sells ice cream (card only) and has a good supply of tourist info. Site wifi was free & adequate for basic internet usage.
You need a car: Sheriff Hutton is a pretty little village (with a small village store) & worth an exploration (the church especially historic for fans of Richard III) but there is no pavement or sensible footpath. Use the Park & Ride system for York itself.

This site was very nice, the staff was more than helpfully,
The facilities was heated with plenty of hot water,
They have a play area for the children,
This site is on the outskirts of York.
You can drive to the monk cross park and ride and catch the bus into York, nice fish and chip shop in strensall.

Clean site with friendly, helpful, kind staff and the toilet/shower block was always clean with plentiful hot water and good showers. Lots to do in the area (York, Howard castle or visit the small villages in the area, lots of history to explore etc. )
The site is tightly laid out so there wouldn't be much free space if full. Dog's are allowed but no dedicated dog walk, nor anywhere to walk from the site except along the road outside the site. Some road noise - more noticeable at night.
No ball games allowed, so our children were not very pleased. There is a central play area, but this is very small (2 swings and a small slide).
We happened to be there during muck spreading time on a field two away from the site and the smell was totally revolting. We went out for the day as soon as it started but on return it was still happening, so we had to leave immediately.
We returned two days later to pack up our tent when the smell had gone (it had carried on for a second day). We were really sorry to have missed most of our holiday.

This site is on the outskirts of York. You can drive to the Park and Ride and catch the regular buses into York.
There's also lots of retail parks on the outskirts of the city and other places to visit nearby; we're members of English Heritage and there was plenty to keep us occupied.
Whitby is about an hours drive away with fantastic views over the North York Moors en route.
The toilet blocks were clean and warm, just one washing machine and tumble dryer. There's a children's play area in the centre of the site.
The site is flat and sheltered however it's on a fairly busy main road which woke us up some mornings, as did the noisy birds nesting in the adjoining field (an observation, not a complaint!).
There are no footpaths from the site, so to walk to the nearby Sheriff Hutton you have to walk on the grass verge which can be difficult underfoot.
We took our bikes but were put off using them due to the speeds the drivers passing were at, this would put me off returning to the site. Several parkruns nearby.

This is our second visit here, lovely campsite,
Facilities were very clean and well maintained,
Pizza delivery service was great, kids enjoyed the park.

Very quiet site. Nothing to do on site. Bus stop is to far away from site entrance.
Good place to keep clear of this horrible Virus 19
Would come here again. Possible not
I wanted to get into YORK to see the Cathedral. In the end Getting Taxi. Cost £40 all in round trip. As this I wanted to go by bus bus to far from site entrance.
They do have good take away place near by, they delivered on site. Very reasonable prices. Pizza world.

The site is level and with a good number of grass or hardstanding pitches. Grounds are well maintained. Good shower heat and pressure and laundry facilities also good.
I did feel that there were a lot of people on the site over the weekend using the WC/shower block and although a couple of basins had been taken out of use to create more space, it didn't feel Covid compliant. If the Velux windows had been open there would have been more air circulation than the side windows alone could provide.
The site is just off a busy road and we found the traffic level noticeable, especially during the morning commute time.
The nearest shop/pub is in the village of Sheriff Hutton, about a mile or so from the site.
It's not a pleasant walk because of the traffic. There's no on-site dog walk.

This is the 3rd time we’ve been to this campsite and we’ll be going back again,
It’s a lovely site the owners can’t do enough for you, any problems you may have they will definitely help sort,
It’s a quiet site even when it’s full there is no noise problem, the site closes at 11 so there’s no danger of any late night noise
There is a small area for children to play with a playhouse,
There is a small shop, on site with the basics on sale,
There is a mobile fish & chip van that comes around about 8. 30 pm, we found that this was too late for us, but there is a very good fish shop in nearby strensall which is reasonably inexpensive,
Strensall has the usual amenities including a boots and a pub that does meals, There is a shopping centre at monks cross which is about 10/15 minutes away that had a range of shops, a 24 hr Asda and a Sainsbury’s, boots and various others.
All in all sheriff Hutton is a very relaxing holiday
If you fancy a day out there a plenty of attractions at York and If you just want to chill it’s nice and quiet,
We stayed there for 8 nights and I’d recommend this site, it it very reasonably priced
