We've been camping for over 40 years and think we know what we are looking for in a campsite. We want a level open-aspect pitch, considerate neighbours, decent washing-up facilities clean loos and hot showers. We detest holiday camp rowdies and the over zealous regulations they inspire. We don't mind not having catering facilities on site as long as they are local and in this case a pub, shop and restaurant are are within 1.5 miles. We enjoy scenic walks and the ability to visit 'must see' sights with little use of the car. Suited us just fine for eight days thanks to hosts Jack and Christine's like-minded approach.

August 2005 We visited this campsite for two weeks over the Bank Holiday period and found it to be excellent! At no time was the site crowded as the pitches are so spacious and we never had to queue to use the facilities either. There was a large washing machine, tumbler dryer and iron and ironing board within the shower block which came in handy. Our two boys had a great time playing in the park which was situated right in the centre of the site and we all enjoyed using the well equipped games room, The owners are very friendly and helpful and were only to happy to recommend places to visit. We would definitely visit this site again.

August 2005 Nice site, very well laid out and the pitches have more than enough room. When they say that this is a quiet site then that is just what it is. Everyone is very spaced out and there are only 25 pitches with a little over flow part. The toilets and showers are unisex which I did not find a problems but there are only 2 showers so you need to make sure that you use them as soon as you get up or before you go to bed.
The only bad point I have about this site is the old toilet block is very dated and by the end of the day could look fairly grubby. They are also very strict on your dog being on a lead which can be restricting and annoying at times.
Other than the above the campsite is run by a lovely couple, quiet central so nothing is too far away and there are some lovely pubs locally.

July 2005 MENA is THE quintisential Cornish Camping & Caravan Site in the County. SUPERB facilites for all requirements are in evidence at this Stunning location whilst maintaining the Charm, Friendliness & Relaxed Atmosphere of a Family-Run business.
With the National Trust's LANHYDROCK HOUSE only a couple of meandering miles away along a summer-scented lane, this has to be the perfect launch-pad for a whole host of near-by visitor attractions.
Our whole experience at MENA as a family will ensure a swift return in the near future.
MENA is quite simply a quietly slumbering JEWELL in Cornwall's Crown, and long may it continue to be so.

August 2004 Very nice campsite would thoroughly recommend this site to anyone and very reasonably priced too. The owners were very pleasant, and helpful especially when I fell down and broke my ankle (my own fault) they took me and my fiance to the hospital. Would definately go back for a holiday but miss out the broken ankle this time!!
The site is very well maintained and very clean. Had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday apart from the rain!

August 2004 The weather may not have been great, but we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this campsite. The pitches were well-maintained, with ample space and situated on a peaceful hill. The owners were friendly and helpful. We would recommend this site to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing break!

August 2004 We stayed at the site for 5 nights (15th - 19th August).
We were at the site during the dreadful flooding in Boscastle (about 20 miles away). It was a dreadfully wet week - yet at no stage was the field even 'squelchy'. Fantastic drainage!
In addition to the facilities mentioned, there was a games room with free darts, table tennis and tv and a pay-for pool table.
The owners were very friendly and the site was lovely and quiet.
I imagine the site would have been busier if the weather had been better. As it was, there was loads of space for our pitch and between us and anyone else.
The (unisex) facilities were good and clean, but there were only 2 showers. This was fine when we were there but I wonder if there would be queues when the site is full.
The nearest pub, the Lanivet Inn, is a good pub with nice food and the fish+chip shop and the Spar shop (complete with home made pasties) are also decent. The village is mostly downhill form the campsite - which was fine for us but some may not fancy walking 1.5 miles uphill on the way back!
All in all, this was a good site and a great price and we would have no qualms about staying there again.

August 2004 Lovely site, small clean and well maintained with large pitches. Central for all popular attractions. Good facilities including small games room (which has a small step), play area for children, laundry and clean sanitary facilities. Great for wheelchair users - large accessible toilet / shower room with shower stool - the room was big enough even for my large electric wheelchair! Paths suitable for all types of wheelchair although there is a small area of gravel to get to the games room / accessible toilet. Very friendly and helpful site owner - will definately use the site again if I visit Cornwall. TIP - make sure you print off the map on the website as it is a bit tricky to find.

August 2004 Jack the owner was very friendly, nothing was to much trouble for him. The site was fantastic and clean, the facilities were spotless and cleaned every day. Pitches were around the outside of site and there was plenty of space for the kids to play in view at all times (so no need to worry about where they are all the time as you can see them). Superb site especially for families. When we return to Cornwall we will definately stay here.

July 2003 Very pleasant and quiet site. Extremely spacious pitches - one of the lowest densities we've camped in.
Well kept, with clean toilet, shower block (unisex, which was not a problem to us - in fact an advantage to families - but may put off some). Great children's play area in the centre of the site, so in clear view of all pitches.
Thoroughly recommended.
