 We've been going to this site for the past three years, mainly because it's convenient for the kids. Myself and the other half are a bit divided on it. He thinks it's good because the facilities are there if you need them, especially if the weather is bad, but I think the facilities are a let down. Typical of the big complexes, they are over-priced, over-crowded and over-heated. On our last visit there was problems with drunken teenagers, which the doormen were struggling to deal with. All they did was refuse them entry but the shouting and swearing in front of the kids did not stop until I had a go at them. On other sites such behaviour would result in the ejection of the troublemakers from the site but it seems that little was done. The shower blocks were entered by key cards last year, as was the site barrier, but this year there was no security at all. The showers are cleaned regularly but with 120 units arriving on the weekend we were there, the cleaner explained that they could not cope! We were also given a pitch that was too small and we were within 2m of the adjacent tents because someone in the row had pitched incorrectly. The pitch number should be central to the tent!
The surrounding area is great though, with fishing trips, boat rides and fun fairs. Bridlington is cheaper than Scarborough but there is plenty to do.

Just returned from a 6 night holiday. 1st thing was the toilets and showers very clean and showers red hot Our tent pitch was on a flat spot but there were some on a slope. Site very big. Children never got to swim in pool as it was raining and they were turning people away. Entertainment was what you would expect. Kids loved the amusements. Close to Brid, Filey and Scarborough.
We did manage to get on the beach (not for the faint hearted) it was quite a trek and some parts were quite dodgy. It was worth it as on our last day we stood on some rocks and saw a group of seals popping up out of the sea(about 25 metres away from us)

Here goes. Arrived at Touring reception to a gent ahead of me in queue stating a demand that "Those noisy vulgar (bleep) animals better be off this site in next hour or I'm getting security!" to the receptionist. Not a very good start methinks.Though I pre-booked 6 months ago, I got put on an awful pitch, sloping and open to the elements. A warning - this site is very windy! There are 260 touring pitches alone with much more statics. This site reminded me of Butlins for numbers in attendance. Both sexes toilet blocks were disgusting. Everone was moaning of the state of them plus showers were cold throught 5 days we stayed. As the site was so large we darent let our 9 years olds go off and enjoy themselves alone. We had to use car to get to indoor sports arena as so far from touring pitches. The entertainment complex was a hike, should have packed my walking boots (lol). Both indoor and outdoor pools much too small for the number of people in attendance. One day we braved the indoor pool, it was so packed and noisy we didnt enjoy one bit of the 20 mins we were there. To add to this, we booked and paid for 7 nights, we left after 5 days as the weather was attrocious, many dome tents ruined, we were lucky our tt escaped any damage. We decided partly due to the weather, partly due to the awful site to leave and come home early. Overall, we will not be going to a HAVEN site ever again. But they dont care they take your money and await the next sucker to book. Give it 2 out of 10, and thats maybe generous. You have been warned, do not go to this site. Gray.

Situated 5 miles from Scarborough , Blue Dolphin resides on a gentle incline overlooking gorgeous countryside. Blue Dolphin is a large site with all amenties. A large outdoor heated pool and a smaller indoor pool keep temperatues down, as does one of the three main bars. Toilet and shower blocks are large and clean but site security is dubious and relaxed . Food in the main complex is expensive and drinks are not cheap , but this is the norm in most complexes of this type.
Camping facilties are ok but getting a good flat spot is a problem, as are the crows in the nearby woods which are very vocal from about 4 in the morning! Childrens play areas exist but are in poor shape, and are often overrun by much older adults. Access to a beach is possible with extreme care, but not recommended.
Dog training fields are provided. Children are well catered for by "Rory the Tiger " but the show is tedious and boring. One thing I object to is whilst children are in the main concert room watching "Rory" etc , staff walk around displaying expensive toys pressurising parents into buying and turning a good time into a nightmare. Also the main entrance into the Concert hall is flagged by Gaming Machines and other *tempters*, I appreciate seasons are short but most people I talk to object to this behaviour. However I would go back to the Blue Dolphin but on my terms only!

It has been two years since my last visit to this site, which wasn't very pleasant but we decided to give it another go and I am so glad we did. We went on Tues and stayed til Saturday. Myself, other half and three kids aged 16, 11 and 3 all had a fantastic time, the warden was super friendly, the pitch was great and the entertainment fab. The pool wasn't large but then again the kids loved it and there are two pools and we arn't olympic swimmers.
Toilet/shower blocks always clean and plenty of hot water.
All in all a great time and would definitely go again.

We visited on a bank holiday weekend and it wasn't over crowded which was very good. We've had that problem before.
Plenty of shower and toilet facilities and very clean. Lots to do for the kids. I will be going back. Very good value for money

Just got back from Blue Dolphin and I was very disappointed. We were booked in, but ended up on the overflow field as our pitch was a quagmire according to the booking in clerk. It is certainly the truth that the site was way overbooked. We paid £5 deposit for a security key for the toilets only for my 13 year old daughter to be told by the cleaning lady that they didn't work and that to always go in pairs because any dirty old tramp could be in there. This meant I ended up having to take them everywhere as they were scared to go anywhere on their own. The idea of us going to a site like this was the security of toilets and the need for passes so that any old tramp cannot walk in.
Due to the fact that the site was overbooked you couldn't get a seat in the entertainment venues until the people with small children took them home, which wasn't too bad as the entertainment was just a step up from karaoke and not worth staying for.
The overbooking also resulted in a mountain of rubbish being stacked near the 3 full Biffa bins by Monday lunch time. A fact that probably resulted in people dumping rubbish in the trees behind us.
The site shop was reasonable for certain items but £1.85 for a 2 litre bottle of lemonade was a tad over the top. I like to try to be open minded and objective about sites but this site has too many negatives.
ps I didn't see the chap struggling with his tent or I'd have offered to help, but he need only ask as I did, and was helped by a very friendly couple next door.

We had a few problems with this site, it rained for a bit of the week we were there and we found the drainage to be very poor in fact it was like driving through a swimming pool to go through the exit! The clubhouse wasn't big enough for the size of park especially with it being a haven site and the amount of caravans as well as tents there. Also found the prices quite expensive and the shop not very well stocked - what they did have was expensive and no real choice. The kids couldn't get into the organised games on a night time we found that since we like to have our children with us during the day so we can explore new ares together that the kids picked for things on the night times were the children who were in their clubs during the day, so ours were left out. The shower blocks were quite often dirty - we cut them some slack with the rain but they did not seem to make an effort even when it was not raining.

Well its about 4 years since I last visited blue dolphin and it hasnt really changed. I booked it as a last minute break, only £15.00 for 2 nights. This was really a taster holiday in our new tent as our 2 young children have never been camping. We arrived at about 6.30pm due to me working so we had to ring the security officer to come and give us our pitch number and passes etc. It was raining when I was putting up our tent and as it was a new one and it was windy too so it wasnt the easiest of tasks, I even managed to bend and virtually break one of the poles( there were lots of people watching me but no help was offered, shame on u all).
The showers were not too far from our pitch and had an electronic card entry system which wasnt working, they were clean though. The only problem was the club house and main complex was a bit of a trek, the food hall wasnt open much and that was a bit of a disapointment, a belly full of beer and no food, not good. The pool was only small and not very deep and very cold so my 2yr old couldnt stay in too long. Also the bar and shop prices did seem to vary from assistant to assitant.
Over all though not too bad and for £15.00 for 2 nights a bargain

Arrived here for a 3 day trip last friday with our vango colarado 600, only to see it ruined by the wind. The site people put us on the worst spot possible for a dome tent in very windy weather, and yet the touring caravans had the best of the shelter!?! we were on the site about an hour in total, and were told the money we paid for the three day trip couldn't be refunded, so all in all its cost us £15, plus £175 worth of kit to visit this pathetic run-down dirty(toilet blocks that is) site. Thanks a bunch blue dolphin, tenters avoid this one.

After arriving at Blue Dolphin and checking in we went to our allocated pitch to find it was on a very steep hill and wouldnt have mattered which way we pitched it would have been impossible. My husband went back to the office and asked to be moved somewhere more suitable which they did. The second pitch was still on a slight incline but better than the first one. We were told that the toilet block nearest to us was out of order so we had a much farther walk to the only other working toilet and shower block in the touring park.
The toilet block itself was reasonably clean but the mens side was much worse. Dirty toilets and blocked toilets each time my husband visited them.
Friday night was a nightmare - a bunch of young families turned up in 2 tents and a caravan and kept everyone awake until after 3am and then were up and about again before 7am. The 'security' car was nowhere to be seen.
We should have stayed until Sunday but decided this commercial site wasnt for us so packed up and came home on Saturday. If you're wanting a young persons site with lots and I mean lots of noise and inconsiderate 'neighbours' then this is the site for you.
Facilities for the children cant be faulted but they do cost extra money and the bike hire, bungee trampolines etc... are not cheap.

Haven holidays tend to have a bad name for people who camp but I'd just like to say - what a great site. Not too far away from the main entertainment complex but far enough as not to get all the noise it took us about 10 mins from our pitch to the main complex and were not expert walkers! Toilets and showers were plenty. Campsite warden was lovely. Great site and would def go back - 10/10 :-)

Stayed here for a week and my first thought was 'oh my God'. The site is huge and I thought I would hate it but I didn't. We stayed in a super pitch and it's DEFINITELY worth the extra money. You get your own fenced off pitch with your own water hook up, no dragging your aqua roll for miles. You also get a decent sized pitch. Next door to us had caravan, awning and annexe on side and still had room although they had to park car on front. Friends of ours booked a normal pitch which was cramped only just enough room for caravan and awning but car had to go across front. It was also very noisy there. Club was hectic no chance of seats unless you went very early. All kinds of things for kids to do. Us big kids loved the roller skating [I hadn't done that for years!]. Toilets clean but there was nearly always a queue for showers but it was the school holidays when we were there so very busy.

This is our 2nd visit to blue dolphin. The 1st during August 2004. The campsite itself is mostly level, and pitch sizes are good. (We have a 9 berth tent) So no problem being close to neighbours. There isn't an awful lot to do at this Haven site during the day, 2 arcades, football pitch and indoor sports arena. There are 2 swimming pools, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor which are a decent size.
Filey itself is a lovely seaside resort. There are no high street shops only Somerfield, but you can get all you need from the independant retailers. There is a 24 hour Tesco at Scarborough. The food at haven is a bit more expensive than normal. There is a pub on site serving food and a Burger King. The evening entertainment is great, if not a bit loud. The staff really do a good job. Overall not a bad place to holiday but lacks daytime activities.

This is a good site if you have kids as there is plenty going on during the day and the night,you have to pay £5.00 deposit though to get a swipe card to go to the toilets.I dont understand as the toilets where left open for the entire stay when we where there.There is security that drives past on a regular basis.The main gripe is that the if your camping it is at least a five minute walk to all the shops and centre of the park and for my entire stay it rained so a good tip is when you go out to one of the clubs at night take your car with you as you can park right outside the main attractions.The shower blocks and the toilets where clean ane you never had to wait.
This was a good site and i would go back there.
TIP - Buy your food before you go as the shops are very expensive
