One of the things which immediately strikes you on arrival at this site is the exuberance and helpfulness of the lady owner. Ready for a chat or to help/advise on anything you cared to ask of her.
Each pitch is hard standing, individually screened by beech hedging and provided with individual water supply as well as electric.
The facilities were exceptionally good and clean (with a bowl of sweeties in the toilets). The only down side was that there were only two unisex showers which is not really adequate for the size of the site. The owner did advise that she now had planning permission for a new building incorporating a shop, reception and more facilities which should redress the situation.
Security is assured by coded access barrier (although we got locked out when the code was changed mid stay - quickly rectified when we contacted the owner via the inbuilt intercom).
Location is good with a bus stop just down the road and, although we did walk into Buxton, it was a fair trek. A visit to the Royal Opera house is a must - whatever is on, it's worth going just to stand in awe of the ornate decor of the interior.
I would certainly recommend this site, you wont get a better welcome.
The owners of this site offer a great value for money product which we would go back to with no problem.
The facilities are very good and how they have planned the pitches with hedging between offering privacy and water on tap with your own dustbin for waste is a very convenient option.
The owners are smashing people who will try to do anything for you so customer service is a top agenda for them.
We would recommend this site to other caravanners if for no other reason than the quality service offered by the people who own the site.
Spent another three nights here last weekend. We just love this site! It's well situated just south of Buxton, overlooking Peak District countryside. Site has been Adults only since February - suits us fine!
Profuse greetings from Jan and Jodie, but after five visits we've become old friends. Given our regular pitch close to everything. Lovely! Pitches are all individual and hedge screened with own bins, water hook-up and bar-b-q. Facilities improve every year.
Small shop sells farm produce (mostly to order), milk and daily newspapers (also to order). Small general shop in village, and also a chippy - but beware it shuts early! Big Morrisons supermarket a couple of miles away.
Buses to Buxton a short walk from the site; every half hour - why take the car when you can have a pub lunch! Buxton is a pleasant spa town with some nice shops, cafes and interesting buildings. Also train connection to Manchester, if you want it. Buxton Opera House is worth a look - it gets some top acts and hosts a Gilbert & Sullivan festival in August. Adjacent park and pavilion also nice to stroll around.
You can get to a host of places from the site especially in the Peak District. Many great walks, long or short, hilly or canal side, available without going too far.
What a fantastic site, met on site by Jan as we arrived to see if the pitch was ok, as there had been a lot of rain previous to our arrival.

And milk if you want, delivered to your van each morning, and as much advice as you need on places to visit, backed up by brochures delivered to our van, at any time of the day Jan always has a lovely smile and excellent sense of humour.
The toilet block is the best kept I have ever used, piped music, hand cream, paper hankies and foxes glacier mints to help yourself to.
In the utility room there is a good selection of books to swap, washing machine and tumble dryer only cost a £1 a wash
Adults only site with plenty to see and do in area
We had a delightful weekend at this lovely site. Woke up the first morning and thought we were in Narnia- a blanket of snow as far as the eye could see-magical.
The owners are delightful, very friendly and helpful, clearing the whole access road right to the main road. Spotless shower/loo block, there is a dog walking field for the first and last of the day,
The small shop was handy and there was talk of a tea room and more pitches for the future.
Meat from the farm can be ordered, papers are delivered to you in the morning if you require, the chip van comes on a Sat. Night and the nearby Duke of York pub food was very good.
Close to some beautiful walks, Tissington trail etc- we will definitely be back.
A last minute idea to have a few days away in the caravan with the desire to stay on an adult only site. Not much choice in the Buxton area but we found 2 sites.
Clover Fields was the first site we rang and they had only one pitch available as long as we didn't mind a slightly elevated grass pitch. Luckily for us the second site was full and so we took this offer. No fee to pay in advance, just turn up.
I need add nothing to the previous reviews as they are all accurate and true. The owners are welcoming and friendly, the toilet blocks are super clean, and the location second to none.
We will certainly return and would recommend the site to anyone.
We would highly recommend this site, it is well laid out and access is very easy just off the A515 Buxton to Ashbourne road. Pitches are generous in size each with its own water tap and separated by hedges for privacy. We prefer to use our own caravan facilities however we noted that the toilet block and showers are kept very clean although we would imagine you would have to queue at peak times or if there are a lot of tents on site as they are limited in number. Access in and out of the site is via coded access gates for security.
It is also ideally located to visit various parts of the Peak District in fact there are so many places to visit and things to do from this site that they are too numerous to list so we would recommend visiting the Tourist Information Centre in Buxton. If like us cycling is your thing access to the Tissington & High Peak Trails is just down the road at Parsley Hay which also has a cycle shop, toilets and a café.
There are various pubs around the area and in Buxton for eating so you are spoilt for choice. There is also an excellent fish & chip shop in Harpur Hill village called Salt ‘n’ Battered where they cook your order while you wait however opening times are limited so check this out first. We did not find the prices extortionate as reported by a previous reviewer.
As stated previously we would highly recommend this “adults only” site to anyone. The only criticism we would have is a minor one in that we were pleased to see that the site fully supports recycling and provides all the relevant containers to this end however they fill up very quickly and do not seem to be emptied regularly. As a result everyone returns to putting recyclable items into the normal bin which defeats the object.
We understand the site is due to expand for 2012 and this was evident because new large pitches had been laid out at the top of the site. Included in the expansion are a new toilet block and shower rooms plus a shop and a tea room. If this goes ahead as planned this will improve an already excellent site and answer some of the issues raised. The site is a credit to the owners.
Arrived to be greeted by Jan - lovely owner - showed where the tent pitches were - very spacious pitches.
Toilet block spotless as were the separate showers (two unisex showers). Covered area for washing up; utility room with washer. Also disabled toilet/shower.
Jan told us some things to do in the surrounding area. Some lovely animals on the site, sheep, a donkey, Geraldine the pig and sheep.
There are also some alpacas - so if you are an animal lover then this is the site for you. The views are spectacular.
Only 3 miles to Buxton - bus stop directly outside if you don't fancy driving into Buxton. There was a pub about 1. 5 miles away (we didn't visit).
Have just made our fifth visit to this lovely site. A couple of miles or so south of Buxton, it nestles in picturesque Derbyshire Peak countryside. It has gone Adult only this year - but then it is a working farm.
Met at the gate by Jan, the owner, we were directed to our 'usual' pitch. There are 25 pitches - all hardstanding - in use at the moment, although a further 20 super pitches are being developed. All have hook-up with a water point and bins between each two pitches. Most pitches are hedge screened with a small grass area.
There are so many places that you can get to from here that it would take too much space to list them all. However you can take the bus into Buxton (every half hour; stop about half a mile up the road) for shops, the Pavilion gardens and theatre, and train to Manchester (if you REALLY need a city fix!) Lots of walking routes available.
Good book warehouse at the bottom of the road. You can sit and have a cuppa whilst you browse. One general store in Harpur Hill village. Also a chippy - but it wasn't open when we were there, and a farm shop up the road towards the village, run by the same family.
Site facilities are slightly limited but excellent and slowly being improved. Another toilet block planned for the super pitches, and a small fishing lake being developed. Jan has long term plans for a tea room on site. Site fees were £18 all-in this year - a modest increase on last year - but still good value.
We keep being drawn back here; undoubtedly will visit another 2 or 3 times this season. Please save 'our' pitch!
You enter this site through a secured gate and are advised of your pitch number, before we had even started to set up someone was there to ask us if everything was okay and would we like newspapers delivering.
The whole site is extremely well maintained and although we were on a pitch predominantly used by caravans/motorhomes as we needed ehu we did go to look at the general camping area and was well impressed, good spacious pitches.
The toilet facilities were by far the best id seen and were always immaculately clean. There was a disabled toilet & shower plus two additional showers. We never had to queue for the shower but as our trip was a Wednesday to Saturday morning it may be busy at weekends and peak season.
The site is in a beautiful location not far from Buxton and would recommend Teggs Nose for a picnic and Grin Low country park and Goyt valley for walking.
As far as eating is concerned we decided to barbecue most nights (they will provide a barbecue if you need one) but we did eat at Chelmorton Inn pub on the last night and had an excellent meal and would highly recommend.
All in all I couldn't fault this site, now all I need to do is sort the weather out. Ah well you can't have everything!
My son and myself have just returned from this lovely site. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The toilet block is the best I have ever seen. Very clean with hotel standard touches.
We were taken to see the new born calf and lambs. The fact that it is now an adults only site added to the peaceful scenery. The pitches are well designed and spaced out.
There is lots of new plantation and a lovely pond.It is well situated to travel into Buxton. Very good place to be camping. Recommend a visit.
What a great site, toilets very clean & well heated, piped music playing lovely personal touches in the toilet block includes mints, earbuds shaving balm etc. Ideal location just outside Buxton the site itself is very clean, big pitch half hardstanding half grass, free barbecues. We have visited three times now and every time we go there is something new and the plans they have in place will really enhance what is already a great site. The owners and staff are so helpful they even deliver the morning papers you request to your caravan, shop is nice and handy. Just perfect
A really nice, well laid out site, for caravans, tents and camper vans. Beautifully kept toilets and showers, always fresh, with music played in both the toilets and the utility room, which had a washer and dryer, washing up sink, store of books and games to borrow, and an ironing board.
Very warm and welcoming family run site, with nothing too much bother. Welcomed us as we arrived, trailer in tow, and told us to take our pick of tent sites at the top of the site. Nice flat pitches, perfect for our large never used before tent! Good access from there to all facilities, including small shop at the house, with freezer pack facilities, milk etc. Jodie and Jan were very polite and chatty, but never seemed in a rush.
Long term plans including a tea room and shop, and we recommend the site to anybody.
Buxton is only 10 mins away by car, and book shop at the other end of the road.
Quiet at night, even though fairly close to main road, easy access from car to tent, and parking for cars just 1 min walk from tent pitches.
Well run, looked after, loved site, and we are returning!
