Small and clean campsite with nice outlook to fields but RIGHT next to very busy A road with constant noise all night. Not the peaceful break we were aiming for.
Long walk to Falmouth through quite a rough housing area. Better to take taxi or bus although this doesn’t run in evenings. No nice local pub to walk to either.
Key code locks for toilets and laundry is really annoying to keep remembering and no light on block at night so you can’t see to get in ! Bit silly.
Won’t return as prefer quieter location and within walking distance to nice pubs via mobile
We stayed at Menehay twice. Both times we really enjoyed our stay there. The site is situated very nice on the edge of Falmouth. So both the town and the countryside are in close reach. Swanpoole beach and a very nice donkey sanctuary are very close.
The site, shower- and toilet facilities were kept spotlessly clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Menehay is a basic campsite.
It has good and very clean showers and toilets and a laundry room with a little freezer. The campsite doesn't have a shop, but a big supermarket is nearby.
For us, all we need on a campsite is there. Very likely we will go back to Menehay in future.
Another great stay at Menehay Farm and the lovely Falmouth. Haven't been for a while as we left it too late and they were full up.
It's a lovely little campsite, great views, great walks, bus stop on site and near to the great town of Falmouth. Stayed for 2 weeks, 1 week of solid rain, and 1 week of lovely sunshine.
Campsite was in good condition given the summer we've had, but glad we booked a hard standing pitch. We tried staying at another campsite on the way down, but they phoned and told us we couldn't come due to the mud so we were lucky at Menehay.
It's a small site, but good, spotlessly clean facilities and a well looked after site with friendly owner. Would highly recommend.
It is hard to decide how to rate this site. It is situated so close to Falmouth Town and lots of good facilities, and even has a bus stop right outside that goes direct into the town once an hour if you require it. This alone could almost justify the £22. 00 a night site fee, but I just feel it needs that little bit more doing to make it a really good site.
The showers not having sufficient seating and shelving has been mentioned many times and would cost very little to rectify. There are spacious pitches and plenty of water points, and the toilet block is generally very good. The main problem we encountered however, was the weather!
This site is very exposed on a hilltop and when the prevailing southwest winds decide to blow even remotely hard and the rain joins in, there is really no place to hide. The grass pitches quickly turn to mud and the exposure to the wind combine to force you to huddle within your unit rather than enjoy your stay in the great outdoors.
I think I will sum it up by saying that we will have to return on a weekend when we have actual 'summer' weather to enjoy it at it's best, but that is obviously a little hard to predict weeks in advance, so maybe I will just go somewhere a little more sheltered with mudfree hardstandings!
This site is ideal as a base for visiting Cornwall's many tourist spots, it's clean and tidy, quiet and, has a recycle policy. Owners are friendly and informative, they can be contacted at any (reasonable) time,
The toilets although not many, (three cubicles, two showers, no stand ups in gents)are clean and warm, although the push buttons in the showers are a pain as they don't stop on very long,
The pitch we were on was on a slope, so when we had torrential rain one day, the water ran into the awning soaking everything on the ground, there are hard standing pitches available, on level ground so will opt for one when we next visit, as we definitely will,
The other main asset is the field where we could run our two dogs off lead, as for the area, Falmouth was a very pleasant surprise, as was everywhere else we visited except Newquay, which we felt had changed for the worse since we were there many years ago, it's like a tawdry Blackpool to us so wont bother going any more.
Easy to find from the instructions given although a little difficult to access. First the bad; not much really! The main problem was even though I had explained I was mobility impaired we were allocated the furthest pitch from the facilities!
Lovely quiet, clean site, with reasonable disabled facilities. Wonderful views and near Falmouth and all the attractions of beaches etc. Great neighbours and the best Sunday roast ever at the Trelowarren Arms pub.
Walking distance for those who can and dog friendly. We had great weather too. What more could you want?
I booked by email and received friendly replies from Janey and she was in reception when we arrived and gave us a good welcome. It is best to let them know when you are arriving as Janey and Andrew live a short distance away, but parents living in the bungalow attached to the site can usually help out. The site is well situated from Falmouth and Swanpool beach. We didn't attempt to walk to either but others did, and there is a pay car park next to Swanpool beach and numerous pay and display car parks in Falmouth. A lovely free carpark with views is up at Pendennis Castle which overlooks the harbour and the sea.
The campsite is mostly level, with some hard standing and others grass. The only facilities are up one end of the site. A small washing up/laundry room with local leaflets and a freezer and the showers and toilets. There was a disabled shower, separate to the main showers and toilets. However if you had difficulty using the step to get inside, you had to request a ramp. Not really satisfactory if the reception office is closed.
The main showers were the two rooms for gents and ladies. Each one had lovely sinks with soap provided, 3 toilets and 2 showers. To get into the toilet block and the laundry room, we were given codes. Thankfully this wasn't needed for the toilet/showers as its not easy to remember, but always needed to get into the laundry room. Everything we used was adequate but the showers were disappointing.
Like other comments, the need to continually press the tap to keep the hot water flowing was annoying, but more so was the lighting. Unless somebody else entered the toilet block the automatic lighting timed out before finishing a relatively quick shower, leaving you in darkness. There was no foldaway stool in the shower on which to place clothes, just a couple of hooks on the door and one by the shower curtain. There was no shelf in the shower on which to place shower gel, sponges etc. And no handle to steady oneself on a slippery shower base.
As said before, everything was adequate, but with a little more investment and less cost cutting, this could be a first class site.
Just stayed here for two days the sun was shining and we enjoyed our stay. There were 4 of us two campers and two dogs. Nice field for dogs to run in and we also walked to swanpool beach.
However shower block has push button showers which only last seconds and block is cold. Key codes to get in but mens block door always open. If shower block updated would return.
