This site was easy to find, however, access in and out was across a small lane so very awkward, tight and poor visibility. The owners were friendly and greeted us on arrival. We had booked this site requesting hard standing, so we were a little disappointed when they allocated us a grass pitch but we were lucky and had a dry week otherwise we would have had problems. The site was busy so we did not get any nice views just a hedge behind and other people all around. The facilities were clean but I had to wait for a shower. The lights were on a very short timer, so when in the shower the lights went off and you were left in complete darkness. We were told it was a short walk into Falmouth town centre. It took 30 minutes up and down steep hills with a 6 year old and 45 minutes coming back, not something we would repeat! We did not find this site child friendly, more suitable for adults only.
Just return from a lovely 2 weeks in Falmouth. Lovely small campsite with about 35 large pitches and a friendly welcome. Modern shower block with plenty of high pressure hot water. Showering was a pleasure! Great value at £18 per night, significantly less than nearby campsites. Closest campsite to Falmouth town centre, took us no more than 25-30 to walk to the centre. There's a bus stop outside, and a taxi at night was less than a fiver! (If you're not keen on hills!) The nearest beach (Swan Pool) is a 15 min walk on mainly footpaths. The site had great access and was easy to find. The location meant you could just leave the car at the site and enjoy Falmouth, which is a lovely place with lots to do. We hired a boat and went up the river Fal, went to the castle, and walked all the near by coastal paths. (Plenty of lovely pubs to take a rest). Falmouth is also a great place to visit other places in Cornwall, we went St Ives, Lizard, Truro, Porthteath, all lovely and not too far away. All in all great time, definitely will go back, highly recommended!
When we arrived at the site we were made very welcome by the owners parents who were looking after the site while they were away. The pitches were a really good size although the hard standing were very unlevel. The toilet/shower blocks were very modern, however there was a timed light which went out far too quickly and left you in the dark. The hot water was far too fierce on the sinks and as there were no plugs it was almost impossible to have a wash there. When we arrived the tumble dryer was out of order and was still out of order when we left two weeks later. The toilets and showers could do with an early morning clean so that when visitors went there first thing to shower they were not met with the night before mud and grass. There could have been another bin as they were usually full and you would struggle to dispose of your rubbish. This camp site is obviously work in progress and I am sure that with a few bits of attention to detail will eventually be excellent. A lot of hard work has gone into it. It is ideally situated for visiting different places in Cornwall and we would definitely use it again. I did think that £18 per night was quite expensive in view of the basic facilities even though it was high season.
We booked this site at short notice because we needed to be in and around Penryn and Falmouth for a few days and it could not have been more conveniently located. There's an hourly bus service from the site entrance - the timetable is a bit confusing until you realise its a circular route. Access into the site is commodious, but the visibility at the exit point was zero - fortunately it's onto a lightly used lane.
The proprietors were very cheery and helpful, making special arrangements for us to arrive late. We were directed to a level, grass pitch in a field with plenty of taps and EHU points - there are some hardstandings, too. Great views to the south-west but, as the location is elevated, be prepared for it to get breezy. We did value the kiddy-free environment; despite the proximity of Falmouth the site was particularly quiet.
There's a newish facilities block but it's only adequate - just 2 showers in the gents, both of which did not so much flow as dribble, but at least they were warm. Just the one washing up/laundry sink which was well used with queueing even though the site was less than half full. Still, that way you get to chat to fellow campers. There's a washing machine (£3/load) and a tumble drier, though the drier was out of use when we visited. No wi-fi, but there's a phone mast on the site - calls and data on O2 and Voda were brilliant.
No immediately obvious shops nearby - there's a shopping parade on the way into Falmouth a bit over half a mile away which includes a (not brilliant) chippy. Huge Asda on the Falmouth side of Penryn, about 2 miles away. Didn't try the pub near the site, but it's only a short walk.
We paid £18/night, the peak summer rate, which we thought slightly dear considering the limited facilities block (even for Cornwall) but the pricing structure no doubt reflects the holiday period. If we need to revisit to the area, we'll not hesitate to go there again.
What a lovely site. Owner very friendly and very helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
Pitch was of a good size giving us plenty of room. Toilet blocks were fairly new and of a good standard, including disabled amenities which my husband used.
We got the bus into Falmouth from the campsite which was handy.
The only thing that could improve this site is perhaps another wash-up sink in busy periods, but then again, you're on holiday so what's the rush?!
Nice location for Falmouth. Simple yet nice family run site. Great sized pitches. Nice level pitches. Lovely sunset over the fields towards the end of the night. Easy to find on the sat nav. Warden/owner was v friendly and helpful. Good value for money. We stayed just outside half term and there were only a couple of other campers on site, making it v peaceful. Fantastic shower blocks. Lots of showers/toilets and needed a code to get into them, as well as the washing area, making it v safe.
Bus to Falmouth stops just outside site, although we drove in. 5mins drive.
What can I say, this place is lovely, peaceful, small and has great amenities. The owner met us at the gate and showed us our pitch. He also had friends coming down and was camping in the adjacent field. Someone had tripped the electrics and he had come down immediately and fixed the issue with a smile. He walked past the tent and gave us his mobile number and said any issues give me a shout. Can't ask more than that can you?
We will be back for more of the same.
Only thing that would bring this place upto 5* would be a little shop.
Stayed while walking the coast path and while it may not have been my first choice for a site in Falmouth, Pennance Mills wins there, this was a good little campsite that fitted the bill.
The site is split in two, I think that the older part is a certified club site, but the rest is very new and therefore, feels simply like a field, which I guess it was until fairly recently. The pitches were level, but not easily defined, which kind of meant you could largely pitch as you like. Being a new site the toilets were brand spanking new and immaculate and looked just about enough to cope in high season.
There were a few aspects that were a bit ‘rough round the edges’, there were some stored caravans, some that looked old, and whilst our pitch was relatively dry, some parts were not that well drained. Having said that we did experience a very heavy storms whilst I was there, so not too surprising, but there had not been much rain previously.
Good location for Falmouth, no more than ten minute taxi ride away and there is a bus stop at the bottom of the lane. While Falmouth may not be the most attractive place in Cornwall, for someone without children I believe it has most to offer. There is the Maritime Museum, which is a must and Pendennis Castle is well worth a visit. The town abounds with great pubs and a fantastic selection of restaurants, the harbour is very interesting and shopping is second only to Truro.
So in summary, a basic site that is very new and will no doubt improve with age whose main selling point is its close proximity to Falmouth.
Great place. Toilets new, showers new, could do with longer timer and longer on the light but clean and warm. The closest shops are expensive convenient stores, although if you go further into town you have cheaper better quality food. There is a warm welcome from owners and friendly vibe from everyone and it was nice to see a few classic old campers still going. The views to the west are of a village and the surrounding hills and trees to the south glimpses of the sea. The pubs are good especially if you venture towards the harbour. Overall I will return. I just hope it keeps its personal touch and does not get too price obsessed and stay welcome to all, rich or poor, who want to taste a little bit of kernow
