This is a lovely site. Quite spacious, and the pitches are marked a suitable distance from each other, so there's no overcrowding. In fact there are plenty of grassy areas, our granddaughter loved playing there with new-found friends.

The facilities block is fine, without being special. There's an overflow block too if the main block becomes crowded (it never did, on the August weekend we were there).

The site was very quiet at night (good!), and as long as you weren't in the first row of pitches, there was no noticeable traffic noise. A frequent bus from Eastbourne to Bexhill (and points further) stops just outside.

The marked cycle path, and subsequent lane, gives access to the beach in 5-10 minutes, it was an easy ride for our 6-year old, once we had had the patience to negotiate crossing the road to start with.

As another reviewer says, it could do with a zebra or pelican crossing, especially in view of the bus stops. Or you could walk to the beach - we did this too, and collected lots of blackberries and sloes from the hedges en route.

An ice-cream van visited every evening when we were there, or the site sells them too, from a freezer. The owner/manager couldn't have been friendlier or more informative.

Btw the site's name obviously comes from the two black Napoleonic War (?) cannons situated within the entrance courtyard. One of our party remarked that their threatening /militaristic stance is rather abated by the large red and white notice on each saying 'DO NOT CLIMB ON THIS CANNON'.

Of similar vintage, there are three nearby Martello towers which can be relatively easily walked to, along the beach.

Great friendly, family run site. Good clean facilities.

Good transport links with bus stop just outside campsite gates with regular service to Eastbourne, Brighton or Hastings Pleasant walks to nearby beach and castle.

Only downside at present is building site within metres of some pitches however would stay there again in the future (when building noise should have finished)

Really friendly welcome at arrival. Shown to pitch. Very clean and tidy site. Showers and toilets clean but getting a bit tired.

Bus stops outside site entrance for both directions although crossing the busy road can be dodgy. Would benefit from a crossing nearby to make it safer.

Will definitely return in the future.

Great atmosphere and clean facilities with friendly staff.

Great cycle path into Eastbourne and footpath to Pevensey castle.

Quite close to a busy road so pitches up the field are much quieter.

Pleasant site with clean toilets and showers. Bit boggy after all the rain but plenty of usable mainly flat grass pitches.

Friendly and helpful owners. 10 min walk to beach or village with all amenities, half hour walk along beach to Eastbourne.

Well cared for site.

We will be back.

A lovely well maintained site within easy reach of the local amenities by foot or bus.

The bus stop is right outside the site entrance.

We loved it there and are looking forward to another visit.

Great campsite, plenty of room and no need for electric hook up.

Toilets and showers are clean and kept clean throughout the day.

There are plenty of waste bins around the fields, which are emptied regularly.

Dogs are kept on leads, and there is plenty of room for them.

Lovely walk across the fields to Pevensey castle.

What a great place to stay, we all had an amazing time, staff and facilities are great. Very clean showers and toilets.

Reasonably priced and good value with location just opposite the beach.

This is our third stay already this year, with another couple already booked. Lets hope the sun keeps shining. HAPPY DAYS AT CANNON.

Best wishes the Daltons
