Had 2 nights at this camp site rather unexpectedly. There is one toilet/shower block which is by reception and is, unfortunately, the furthest possible distance from the camping field!
The caravan fields are right next to the toilets which is rather strange. Also, the camping field is alarmingly steep! We managed to get to the top of the field which had a water tap - the only one in the field - but still ended up sleeping either on our heads or upside down!
Site is really not thought out very well - why on earth have the caravans - most of them static - next to the toilet/shower block when they have their own facilities! Also, there was only 1 sink for washing up which had no hot water at all.
The shower/toilet rooms are very nice wet rooms although there are only 6 of them. Also have to pay 20p for 4 minutes for a shower which we considered bad as we were charged £16 a night to pitch.
They all had hand dryers and hair dryers although only 1 worked as somebody had taken out all of the fuses - so take your own! Saying all this, it was very clean, and you certainly had a great view from the top of the hill.
The Queen's Head pub and shop was just 5 mins drive away, there are also 2 vineyards both worth a visit as is Hastings. The warden was very welcoming.
All in all, an ok place for being in a tent as long as you like mountaineering and have a porta-loo!

Have just returned from a 4 night stay. Site noisy due to the road (A21) all day and most of the night! Ground not that flat so had to pitch tent on a slope. The new wet rooms were not that good, only 6 for the whole site so if you needed the loo at a peak shower time you had to cross your legs. Paying 20 p for a shower was not good as site is not cheap and water was not that hot! Washing up had to be done in tepid water too but that was free. No soap dispensers in the wet rooms so hygiene was not that great. General cleanliness of the wetrooms was very poor needed a good thorough clean, actually put you off wanting to take a shower! Upside - Warden was a very pleasant chap.

It was a last minute booking, on arrival, the warden greeted us, very pleasant chap, ( bit expensive ) considering basic facilities.
You had to pay for the showers 20p for 5 mins. That's if the water got hot. Not exceptionally clean.
The location of the chemical waste needs some reviewing of the location, l found this disturbing, as to the location and the facility which were extremely poor, and could lead to health issues.
There were a large number of long term caravans there which were not mentioned and also poor TV reception, and phone signal, both of which are not mentioned. Otherwise a pleasant site.

We stayed at this site for a weekend in half term in October 2010. The warden was friendly and we were able to get a hard standing which are just inside the entrance on the right. This made a great difference for placing the caravan and for when we were leaving as it had rained a lot and I think getting the caravan off grass in such conditions would have been difficult.
The A21 runs past the site and so is quite noisy during normal hours, but night time hours were fine.
Site is close to Battle, Hastings, Bodium Castle which was the reason for staying here.
Payment is by cash or cheque only, no cards are accepted.
The facilities were not as good as expected though. The newer block is a collection of 6 wet rooms (one was out of use) containing a toilet, hand basin and shower coming down from the ceiling. There are no controls for the shower and the cost is 20p for 5 minutes of which the first minute runs cold according to the notices! (This charge is not mentioned on their website.) Wire racks for putting clothes and toiletries are provided but are above head height (about 6 foot off the ground) so are not very practical and could be difficult for vertically challenged campers. There are no soap dispensers in the rooms so washing hands after toilet is not as hygienic as it could be.
In addition, the ‘hot’ water is created by the solar panels on the roof - useless! When we were there in October the water was tepid - useless for washing - and we had to take a boiled kettle over with us. Although the sinks are clean (there weren’t many other campers there at the time) the toilet block appeared to not be cleaned during the weekend.
The washing up ‘facility’ consists of a sink and double draining board round the back of the toilet block with just a cold water tap, no hot water!
There are separate places for emptying waste water and chemical waste, neither of which had working taps for rinsing and in addition the chemical disposal alcove was in the same place as the washing machine and dryer so could get smelly in warm weather!
Even though the site and facilities look good, when you actually use them you think otherwise and therefore I would not return to this site.

I stayed at this site for one week and found the park to be very nice along with the staff,in fact I booked up an extra day,and will be going back.
The only down side to this park is the noise from the A21 and that the park is sloped, however both of theses was not a problem for me or my family.
On the pro side, the new wet rooms are great and always open, ideal for showering young children, also shop which opens daily with your basics and good priced too, plenty of room for children to play and grounds are kept well.
What stands this site out against others is the friendliness and helpfulness of the wardens who often pop over to see if you are ok and for a chat.
Although their website doesn't show the fifty or so residents I found them to be just as friendly.

Site has a good location for exploring area.
Toilet blocks are ok, though could probably do with extending as we queued for 15 minutes one morning.
Owners were very friendly, and squeezed us in even though we were late trying to book a bank holiday get away; but I mean squeezed in. Tents did seem on top of each other and we were only 1m from a caravan.
Not much for children to do, and as the edges of the field were quite overgrown my daughter stung herself quite a few times on nettles.
The entrance to the site has a couple of rows of permanent units, not a great feel and then behind the tents is a field used for storage.
Overall not a bad site for a atop over, but I wouldn't have a holiday here.

Visited this site over the May bank holiday.
The park was fully booked, but had plenty of space available for ball games.
The facilities weren't as good as I expected. The old toilet block was pretty shabby and in need of some TLC. The new block is a collection of wet rooms. You have to pay 20p for a shower, but felt this was a bit off due to the cost of the pitches. A bit of a rip off really.
Not all pitches have a 16 amp hook-up either. Some have 6 amp only which we were not made aware of by the warden.
The pitches are all on a steep gradient, so make sure you take chocks and levelling ramps. It really is a steep slope!
Main A21 runs right past the site and is noisy all the time. You can't escape it due to the location of the site half way up the valley!
If you take your dog you pay for the privilege, but there are no dog waste bins provided.
Another point to note is that it's cash or cheque only. No cards or even a phone line!

Hilly site with some flat hardstandings just inside the entrance. Unfortunately ours was very muddy and lumpy. We could have pitched up the hill but it as very slopey and we were advised that we could get stuck if it rained. Wish we had risked it as it didn't rain and it was much nicer up there.
It is very noisy with the A21 running right past and there was nowhere on site that you can get away from that.
I did not like the mixed sex shower block. They have put wet rooms in solar panel and obviously spent a lot of money and it looks nice, BUT they are not cleaned very often and it's not very pleasant having a shower in a room with a dirty toilet in it. Nowhere to sit when getting changed either so I took my camp chair in.
On the plus side the owner was very pleasant and the men that work on the site very friendly and helpful
There are a lot of permanently sited vans on site which they don't mention on their website.
Nothing within walking distance but some nice areas to discover by car.

We received a friendly welcome when we turned up out of the blue. We pitched the tent on the top field adjacent to the tap, here it is fairly flat. The old portakabin toilets are parked in this field, not pleasant but they save a walk to the new block, which is near the entrance. The new shower block is A1. The cubicles contain wc, sink and shower 'a la wet room'. The floor was freezing- I had no flip flops, but after my shower I found a use for the free hair dryer- defrosting my toes! The shower was warm and had I had footwear all would have been perfect.
The traffic noise from the A21 goes on all night, but that was bearable compared with some of the noisy sites I have stayed at, here we didn't hear anyone, we had the field to ourselves.
Locally we found the food at The Queens Head tasty and generous. The beer was good, but the pub lacks atmosphere. In the morning we found a cafe on the A21 that served a bargain breakfast. In all an ideal site for an overnight / weekend stop.

Just wanted to write a quick note to say that the showers still aren't finished and looked like they were still quite a while off when we stayed, so worth checking before you book as the old ones are falling apart! Nice friendly owner and relaxed atmosphere, quite quiet when we were there except for the road noise, but not really an issue.
