When we arrived we were told to 'pitch up and sort the money out in the morning' this instantly gave me a good feeling.
The site has one road running straight through the middle of it and there was plenty of hook ups with water stand-bys not too far away and pitches were of a good size.
The shower/toilet block was nothing to shout about, it was as clean as could be expected, but did have hot water in the showers (20p). There was also the downside of no soap to wash your hands after using the toilet.
The children's play area is small and there are limited activities for children to use (unless you want to spend money in the games room or hire the pedal karts) I feel as though as small playground of some sort would not hurt.
When we stayed there were cattle in the barn and nobody seemed to mind the children having a closer look (when we were with them) but we were told that our children were unaccompanied this was a slightly different matter.
All in all, the site was OK for a couple of nights.
This campsite was OK however I think it is better suited for caravans instead of tents. It is in a lovely location,
There were only 2 showers that need 20p, we were camping about 250m away from the toilets so it was rather unfortunate as we were the furthest tent away from the toilet block. Ground is flat and loads of people were in caravans.
Probably would not come here again as a camper but it may be good for groups of campers with children as the campsite is one big open space.
There are some local shops just roud the corner, would need to drive as on main roads, shop opens until late.
Booked a weeks stay last year as I read reviews about how good it was, we were not disappointed.
The site owner was very friendly and helpful toilets were always clean as was the site, the shower was 20p for three minutes although it seemed like five.
It rained on and off for five days but there was plenty to do in Bracklesham and Wittering. Found a cafe in West Wittering in the Walkway breakfast £4. 50 which was very good value, also there was a Tesco and co op handy for papers and cheap shopping.
The only downside was my car running on autogas, the nearest fill up was just down the road but it was 84p dearest I've paid so far.
This is a great little site in a superb location. Essentially one long field with pitches down either side. All very nice and flat and no noise at all from the road etc.
We were staying in a caravan for one night and it was raining hard so we made little use of facilities but everything seemed clean and in good condition (if a little dated).
I spoke to the owner a couple of times and he was very helpful (even with something that was entirely my problem!).
We will be sure to return for longer another time. Superb value for this area.
Really enjoyed our two night stay on this site. Very friendly staff. Very peaceful and relaxing. Toilets and showers very clean. 20p for the shower - plenty of hot water.
Took our campervan and two dogs. Good hardstanding for the van with electric hookup. Plenty of walks for the dogs. Ten minute walk to a local pub, they welcomed the dogs into the bar area.
Beach at West wittering was lovely. £3.50 to park for the day - virtually had it to ourselves on Monday. One of the best camping holidays we have had. Will definitely be going back
Arrived here without notice and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. A very simple site which was just what we wanted. 2 rows of pitches with a small track down the middle and plenty of room for the children to play and still be in view.
Level pitches each have hard standing surrounded by grass and we were lucky enough to get a bigger one near a gate which was perfect for our campervan and awning - might have been a problem on some of the smaller pitches due to the orientation of our van/awning combination.
There is a small shed with a pool table in (50p per game) which provided some welcome shade from the sunshine. There is also a sandpit with diggers which would be great for smaller children. As it was, our son seemed more than happy to ride his bike with the other children who were there and some days we didn't leave the site as he was so occupied!
Shower/toilet block always really clean. Showers (20p for 5 minutes of hot water) were never busy, even though the site was quite full. Small washing up area was also always clean and cost 10p for loads of hot water.
Short cycle ride to Bracklesham Beach, pebbly with some sand, cheap to park with toilets and a small shop. 5 minutes in the car took us to West Wittering which was perfect - £3.50 to park all day just behind the sand dunes so almost on the beautiful sandy beach. It did get quite busy as the weather got hotter so good idea to get there early.
A number of farm shops nearby but the camp site shop also sold eggs and meat at weekends.
Great site where we have had one of our best camping holidays ever. Also couldn't believe that it was £17.50 per night with EHU. Will definitely be back
This is our kind of site. Basic facilities (showers / toilets / washing up / EHU , etc) all kept clean and tidy with friendly, helpful staff.
Lovely peaceful atmosphere, and within walking distance (15-20mins) of a couple of pubs and basic shops and the beach at Bracklesham. We have just returned from 4 days here and will definitely be back.
Each pitch has plenty of space. The 3min showers at 20p a go deliver lovely hot water and the 3 generous mins are plenty long enough.
The best beach is at West Wittering, but you have to pay to park there (up to £4 for the whole day), but when its busy its packed and hard to find a space on the sand.
The fields where you park your cars are spacious though and you can easily have enough space to park and have a bbq next to your car/van.
East Wittering has the best assortment of local shops, including Tesco Express and an equal sized Co-op.
Overall, this is a good place to camp and at the price is hard to beat.
This was our first visit to the site after staying on a nearby farm previously. We much preferred this site as we have an extra large tent with an awning, 2 cars and 4 children so costs can mount up and at only £15 for all this during high season it was a bargain, especially if you pre-book, as you get the 7th night free. There were lots of people there that had stayed on nearby sites and they much preferred Red House.
The owners of the site are very friendly and helpful and run a small shop on site selling a few basic food items and buckets and spades etc for the beach at a reasonable price. Freezing of ice blocks is free. The ladies toilet has 7 loos and 2 showers, not sure how many loos in the mens but they have 2 showers as well. They were kept very clean, the showers were 20p and you had 3 mins of hot water (too hot for my little ones sometimes) which was sufficient. We never had to queue, even at the weekend. The piped music to the loos/showers was a nice touch. Washing up facilities are in a lit inside area and for 10p you got a good sink full of very hot water.
We found the site very safe for the children to play in as you can sit outside your tent and see them playing easily. Although ours were in and out of various caravans where their new friends were staying. A lot of the caravans on site are owned by people who return year after year so they know the surrounding area well and know the best places to visit. There is a small games 'room' with a pool table and 3 arcade machines. There's a covered sand pit with diggers in which my children enjoyed and a wooden wendy house. These kept my children perfectly content and with all the open space to play in we heard no moans of 'I'm bored', perfect! We did have to hire out more than 1 go-kart at a time which could have mounted up the costs easily, but they had great fun racing up and down the field.
The local shops are only a short journey by car and you have a choice of 3 local beaches - Bracklesham, stoney - East Wittering - stoney with sand when tide is out - or the very popular West Wittering - sandy. We can highly recommend the fish and chip shop 'Boulevard' at East Wittering, we loved their family sized portion of takeaway chips for £4!
We will definitely return to this site next year and look forward to seeing our new friends there.
The detail has been covered by other reviewers so I'll just add that we have been coming here to a caravan for several years now in May, June and July and Red House Farm camping site is a magic place.
The people, hosts and other campers are very friendly, though you can still have your own space and quiet if you need. The field site itself is beautiful, surrounded and sheltered along one side by a large hedge which houses all manner of birds, with horses in the fields around, and views across the countryside beyond on the other sides.
The evening parties they hold on big bank holidays are great fun, with live music, food, etc.Organised by hosts and frequented by the regular visitors and new guests alike. There is a great atmosphere.
The facilities are fine, there are shops a short cycle / car ride away and pubs/places to eat at nearby Bracklesham and along the roads nearby. On busy weekends, the best beach spots I think are between East and West Wittering, go to East Wittering and start walking westward, it gets sandy but not too busy.
Whenever I am there, the peace of the place just seeps into me. Book it and go.
I took two older children (9 and 16) on my own for a weekend away. We had a pretty good time. The owners are helpful and friendly, we were warned not to pitch in the slight hollow in case it rained.
The long field is nice and open, with plenty of room to play, and a road down the middle used by go-carts and cars (there weren't too many cars moving as it wasn't very busy). For younger children there is a covered sand-pit and play house.
The pitches are a good size, around the edge of the field. There are no electric hookups for tents, only for caravans.
The toilet/shower block was fine and kept clean, piped radio at all hours is an unusual feature, the 20p cost is reasonable as the site itself is not expensive. The washing up room however was awful, dirty and unswept, with a spider handing from the light pull (the light didn't work the second night) The hot water costs 10p, and one of the heaters didn't work, luckily I had another 10p for the other one and no-one else was waiting.
Locally there are beaches nearby, be warned West Wittering gets very busy, and try to use the back roads in high season/hot weather to avoid traffic jams.
I love Earnlea Gardens, mainly indoors so good for poor weather, it has birds, butterflies and themed gardens in huge greenhouses, plus interesting local museums, a small outdoor play area with goats and a pet rescue centre for reptiles and small animals. It is a bit shabby, but there's lots to do and it's not over priced.
Overall a good basic site for a short break.
