West Wayland is easily found and even easier to access. It has a lovely wide entrance off the main Looe/Polperro Road and has the benefit of a longish layby in front of it. On arrival book in at the reception cabin at the end of the first road on the right opposite the shop. The site is a mixture of static vans and a huge field for tourers, motorhomes and tents. There was a lovely big space for us to park our caravan with plenty of room for the awning and a car, still leaving enough space between neighbours. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The receptionist was most helpful when my husband wasn't well and we needed to find the nearest doctor. She was always pleasant and friendly. One of the best features for us was the dog walking field where dogs could be left off their leads. Our Labrador, Daisy, loved it. The Sunday Boot Sale was interesting - not very big, but enough to spend an hour looking around. West Wayland is about a mile and a half from Looe, and there are no nearby shops, pubs, restaurants. The nearest being in Pelynt a short distance down the road which is virtually opposite the site. There is a small shop on site staffed by two lovely friendly ladies where you can get most everyday items. I noticed that although there wasn't a bus stop outside, buses picked up and dropped off passengers at the top of the drive. We were there the week before the summer holidays started and it was peaceful and quiet with a lovely view out to sea over Talland Bay. It was getting busy the day or so before we left, so more children were arriving, but it was lovely to see them playing in the park area. We particularly liked the fact there was an open aspect - where the playpark was in full view, and the toilets/showers were also clearly in view of most of the site. It felt very safe there particularly for children. The toilets and showers were newly decorated and very clean. Certainly no complaints about anything. There is one comment which is not a criticism, but an observation, the sign on the shop outlining emergency procedures says to use the telephone box at the end of the drive - problem is, it hasn't been useable for 2 years! This sign really needs updating, especially since mobile phones not part of the Orange network cannot receive a reliable signal. The fish and chip van based on the site was excellent - best fish and chips much better than Dave's in Looe, and great value for money. Charges were very reasonable. We will certainly be returning.

2nd year we have been to this site. It is quiet clean and very reasonably priced. Jackie who runs the site is a diamond, nothing is too much trouble. You can walk to Talland Bay but coming back is a bit of a climb!

Toilet block is clean and the showers have always been hot when I have used them. There is a small shop on site with limited opening hours but these are listed in the window of the reception. There is lots of parking in Looe and lovely places to eat, try the Ancient Mariner. Polperro is close and very picturesque. Have booked for next year already!

This is a really nice site ! Very pleasantly surprised ! Fees extremely reasonably, showers and loos very clean, I would recommend you take your shower early or about 11. 00am to have a hot shower, also I think more shelves are needed in the shower for your toiletries etc. There is a laundry room with 2 washing machines and 2 tumble driers, ironing board etc, although £2 for 15 mins for the tumble drier I thought was expensive. This is a quiet site, nice views, with a small play area in the middle, the grass is extremely well kept. They have very friendly staff, the shop is well stocked, and the fish and chip van is lovely, all food freshly cooked and very tasty. We only paid £10. 50 a night on a 16amp electric hookup which we thought was excellent for May. The site is situated between Polperro and Looe, close to Fowey, and we also went to Bodmin and Mevagissey, all in all ideally situated. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site and will definitely return next time we are down that way. The site is very well lit at night. Thank you for a lovely stay. The pitches are quite level, only a few a bit sloping, we were on pitch 3, would thoroughly recommend this site as a site with needed facilities, but no gimmicks such as a pool, club house etc.

Staff seemed very friendly and quite eager to help. The site is kept very clean and the pitches are mostly level and quite spacious. A nice play area for the kids and a decent sized running area for our Spaniel. Nice views of the bay (in the distance) and a good location for Polperro and Looe.

Only two downsides, there was no hot water in the showers or dish wash area. Maybe this was a 'start of the season thing'.

Also, they ran out of loo roll in the gents which was quite awkward.

The shop was closed when we went, but there is a decent sized Spar shop about a mile away in Pelynt.

Having said that, if they sort the hot water issue, these are relatively minor, and we would go back.

We decided to have a quick weekend break in Looe, and West Wayland seemed just the site we were looking for.

It doesn't have a swimming pool (or a whole load of other facilities that we would never get to use), but it does have all the essentials - clean toilets, free showers, a site shop (which wasn't massively overpriced), play area and hookups (for those that need them. ) There is also a fish & chip van on site which serves food most of the week, which was actually very good.

The site itself is gently sloping which shouldn't prove too much of a problem.

As far as I was concerned, there were only two very minor drawbacks. Firstly, I didn't find the showers particularly hot (although my wife said that the showers in the ladies block were ok). Secondly, the site is extremely well lit at night - a bit too well lit for my liking, and it probably would have been better if half the lights could have ben turned off in the small hours.

In all an excellent site if you are not fussed about fancy facilities such as club houses, etc.

This was our second visit to Westwayland, and I don't think we could have picked a better weeks weather wise.

The easy booking of a pitch by email and no deposit required, on our arrival the ease with which we found our pitch and hook-up point made things easy.

The slight slope on our pitch wasn't really a problem, needed chocks to level the van.

Our son and family have used the site on numerous occasions with a tent and they like it because if it rains the site is so well drained it never gets boggy.

The shower/toilet facilities were clean and well maintained, with soap provided for hand washing. The laundry is well equipped with coin op machines.

The play area for the kids was large and equipped with swings Etc. All ages seemed to enjoy themselves.

The Looe Lions Club Sunday morning car boot in the adjoining field was brilliant and plenty of bargains. During our stay it was Looe Lions carnival week culminating with the carnival parade on Saturday with floats, Marching bands and lots of fun.

Within easy reach of Looe and Polperro and a visit to Trago Mills is a must for shopping for meat some of the best lamb available here with lots of other goods on sale.

A fantastic campsite, excellent value for money, well maintained and run.

We will definitely be visiting again in the future.

We've just spent a fantastic week at West Wayland. There is a large area of the site with static caravans. The touring field was well maintained and the pitches were all a good size. There is a play area in the centre of the field. It is a sloping site so levelling blocks are required on most pitches. The free shower block was always clean with plenty of hot water, I would suggest that a mop be put into the shower block.

The shop was well stocked compared to others that we have visited. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

There are buses to Looe and Polperro from just outside the site, there are two every hour so access to both resorts was good.

We walked the coastal path from Talland Bay to both Polperro and Looe, the scenery makes up for the two or three steep climbs on the paths.

We went to the Jubilee Inn in nearby Pelynt, the food was really good and the staff very friendly.

Hubby, hound and I are heading to West Wayland for the 3rd year in a row on Monday for 8 nights. Really can't wait! Also went in 2009 (with the hubby, then boyfriend) and in 2006 (stayed on my own for a couple of nights). Lovely site and we definitely like it there - we even spent our Honeymoon there in 2011!

The facilities are great (although the showers and toilet block could really do with some further investment and more regular cleaning). The site is generally very clean, neat and tidy. No issues with other campers/users, other than snorers!

Fingers crossed nothing has changed since last year!

This was our first camping foray with two small children, (aged 1 and 4), and I don't think we could have picked a better site to start with. The friendly welcome from Brenda on our arrival and the ease with which we found our pitch and hook-up point made things easy. The slight slope on our pitch wasn't really a problem, but it was noticable so on our next visit we will try to pick a flatter pitch.

Our neighbours were extremely helpful, and as they had used the site on numerous occasions they gave us a quick tour. The shower/toilet facilities were clean and well maintained, although you need to get in early doors for a shower or run the risk of a cold one!

The play area for the kids was sufficient and the oldest quickly made friends with the other kids and we had a clear line-of-site between the pitch and the play area.

The on-site fish and chip shop was a godsend after a full day exploring and you didn't feel like cooking and the on-site shop was well stocked at reasonable prices.

The sunday morning car boot in the adjoining field was brilliant and plenty of camping accessory bargains can be had.

Within easy reach of Looe and Polperro it was an ideal base for visiting the numerous attractions in the area.

The 11pm curfew was strictly enforced which the noisy neighbours pitched next to us found out the following morning when they were asked to pack up and leave.

All in all a fantastic campsite, excellent value for money, well maintained and run.

Will definitely be visiting again in the future.

Well we've just got back again from another great weekend at this site. This time it was quite busy when we arrived, but it didn't matter - the facilities are plentiful enough for busyness not to mean problems and despite it being school holidays and lots of children on site it was very quiet by bedtime.

I felt I had to submit another review because last time I said a negative was no hand soap in the toilet block - well now there is! Lots of dispensers on the walls - great! Now just some recycling facilities to work on. It would be great to have some bins for bottles / paper etc to save bringing it home again.

The car boot was excellent again too. We even managed to get some Christmas presents this time! Sad, I know!
