A small, friendly site that is friendly, welcoming and incredibly well maintained. Prices are very reasonable and we personally did not feel the lack of a shop and laundry facilities were an issue, the pretty little village of Marazion has everything you need for basic supplies and the town of Penzance is a short drive/bus ride/cycle ride away.
The ladies toilet and shower facilities were excellent, I only have my husbands word for the men's facilities which he said were sufficient but in need of an upgrade (I believe this is being undertaken this year so problem solved!)
Pitches are spacious and many have trees & hedges for added privacy although we preferred the quiet little area of 5 or 6 pitches nearest to the facilities. Wardens Jean & Sean are some of the nicest people we've met and keep the site running smoothly and efficiently with a smile and always a bit of friendly banter.
We had no issues at all but I'm confident that had any arisen, they would have been dealt with immediately. Having 4 dogs we spent most of our time on the dog friendly Long Rock beach which is within easy reach. And of course, virtually everywhere you are in the area surrounding Dove meadows, you have the beautiful view of St Michaels Mount.
All in all this little site is a gem, probably more suited to couples than families as there are no play facilities on site and no ball games allowed. This makes for a very quiet, peaceful little site so if this is what you need then you won't be disappointed. Already booked again for 2016!
Maybe one teeny weeny suggestion. A shelf underneath the hairdryer plug socket or next to the mirror in the ladies, just somewhere to put your things while drying your hair to save putting them on the floor?
Our first visit to this site in lovely Marazion did not like our first pitch offered but our second one was lovely secluded and quiet. The ladies toilet block was new and kept as clean as possible ( I would suggest a larger mat in the doorway to stop the amount of grass taken in ) other half said gents needed a facelift. It is a bit of a walk into town if your getting on in years like us I did it at least twice day, papers and coffee am exploring pm, but well worth it what a pretty place with shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and of course St Michaels Mount I walked it there and back was great(ticked it off my bucket list)You can catch a bus into St Ives or Penzance. Very central for walks too. Loved it.
Hi, stopped at dove meadows from 16th august to 30th august 2015. Lovley site well looked after, clean and tidy perfect location. 5 mins walk to marazion. Toilets and showers very clean, Showers 50p for seven minutes, worth paying 50p for, fish and chip van visits twice a week very big portions and good value. Site wardens very helpful which makes a pleasant stay. Large pitches, very peaceful at night. 5 mins too beach and pub, out off 10 for location and site. Would have to be 10.
Lovely campsite area with trees and hedges to help shelter you from wind. Close proximity to St Michaels Mount and the beach. Also very close to Marazion town (approx 5 min walk) which had a few lovely cafes/pubs/restaurants.
Ladies shower and toilet block very new and clean, partner said the mens were in need pf modernising. Also had to pay 50p to activate the showers each day- it wasn't a huge problem, but would have been handy to know before the trip.
All in all would recommend the site to anyone heading to the area.
Quiet site in a great location 5 minutes walk to Marazion. The site is well kept grass/gardens and looks level, but you need clocks as not all pitches are. Facilities are basic, new ladies bathroom installed this year with 2 showers which take 50p coins. Nice but small when busy and showers went cold if water ran in sinks/toilets. Gents shower very basic and due for an upgrade. Small reception and friendly helpful staff. You can also cycle/walk to Penzance on seafront path, carrying on to both Newlyn then Moushole. You can also get the bus from the end of the lane to Penzance one way and Porthleven the other. Marazion is beautiful, there are dog friendly pubs, cafes and shops. Would recommend the Godolphin which overlooks St Michael's Mount at the back, not cheap but great quality and the view! We would visit again but be prepared to use our own shower. It is good value for money.
We stayed at this campsite for 2 nights, and wished we had stayed longer!
It is a lovely small campsite, with a friendly atmosphere. The ladies washroom was excellent and we think that next time we come the men's will have been renewed as well.
The location is amazing - we could see St Michael's Mount lit up one night, from the campsite. It was a very easy walk into Marazion with out 2 young children, and with the beach and the fab play area there was lots to do.
There was a great cafe just opposite the Godolphin Arms with a good menu and lovely food, and the Godolphin itself we found very child friendly but with a relaxing 'grown up' and styling environment.
We loved this campsite and are looking forward to coming back again!
I was given a warm welcome by the very helpful wardens and shown to my spacious pitch surrounded on 3 sides by hedges. The location of this peaceful site couldn't be better - 5 minutes walk from Marazion beach and 10 minutes from the small, delightful town itself. There is also an RSPB reserve next door. Nearby is a bus stop for the Open Top Bus Tour you can hop and off which takes you to St Ives, Lands End and many places in between, well worth it for the views from the top deck!
The new ladies shower block is spacious and well thought out, there's even a plug point for your own hair dryer (those wanting to charge mobile devices are encouraged to take them to reception where the wardens will happily charge them for you). The men's facilities will be similarly upgraded soon, at the moment they are rather basic. I was surprised at the 50p charge for a shower, but you do get plenty of time for your money.
This was my second stay here, it's one of my favourite sites to relax at, well worth a visit. The only reason I haven't given it 10 out of 10 is due to the basic men's facilities which will be upgraded soon.
The site is lovely and clean, the wardens are nice. We have seen the owners only when they walked their dogs on the site. Gents facilities are in desperate need of refubishing. In a little 'shed' one cold water tap to do your washing up. You need to travel to Penzance if you want to do any laundry. I do not envy the poor camper that is parked by the side of the chemical disposal.
Some guests give it 10 stars, it could, if some extra work was done, i. E. Hot water for washing up, laundry facilities and new facilities for the gents.
* Lousy male washing facilities (though being renovated)
* Local A30 and Train lines
Its is a medium site that slopes from East down to West, the pitches are well maintained and there are tarmac roads leading to them, nearly all having electric hook ups, the exception being the ones on the West.
To the West is a railway line about half a mile away that is the main line between Penzance and the East, behind this is the A30, both at times can be very noisy, if your on the East of the site this may not be such an issue; Apart from that the site is generally quiet and relatively unlit.
Washroom facilities at the time of the visit were great if you are a female guest there are showers with a 50p meter, full size sinks with hot and cold running water and toilets (This is a new block).
For male guests, facilities are unfortunately very primitive, toilets are cramped with a very small hand wash sink with a small insufficient water boiler on the wall in the same cubicle, shower facilities are the same as the female toilets; I’m informed that they are updating this block later in the year.
The dish washing up area is in a covered shed with a single basin with only cold running water that is very inconvenient when you have greasy pans to wash or utensils that have been used to prepare raw meats. There are also 2 drinking water and chemical toilet empty points.
Local facilities include a few local shops, takeaways and pubs, though admittedly we generally ended up in the big supermarkets that are a 10min drive away.
For the kids there is the beach, and also a playground that is on the way to Marazion, on the site there are no play facilities and no ball games allowed.
So in summation this is a very nice site, though its let down by the male toilets and no hot dishwashing water.
Wonderful landscaped site with spacious pitches. The site is very neat and tidy with hedges providing privacy for some pitches. Good facilities and new ladies showers this year. The wardens and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The site is in an ideal position, only a 2 min walk down the lane to the main beach near St Michaels Mount that you can see from the site. We have been coming here for the past 4 years in June and highly recommend this site.
