We visited Coombe Park in may for a short stay.

This was our 3rd time. Second time here (april) friends joined us in a static van.

At £45 a night.

We enjoy it so much we will return again soon.

Showers etc are good.

It is situated next to race course. We went on a race day and as I have never seen horse racing before it was good to watch.

Ten min drive into Salisbury town.

Lots to see and do from this site.

Just got back from a wonderful bank holiday weekend.

This was our first visit to this site and we received a warm welcome by the owners, as we have 4 children she had put us on a pitch that overlooks the play park which was a thoughtful touch.

There are different pitches available, hard and grass standings, and there are options for 'open' pitches or pitches that have hedges around them for a little more privacy, so there's something to suit everyone.

The shower block is large enough but only has 3 showers, although I didn't have to queue for them other people did, the showers are clean enough but could do with an update, ideally with sensor showers as I find the push button ones annoying as I have long hair as do my girls. In the ladies section there are also private sinks. There is also a liquid soap dispenser now. Full disabled bathroom is also available as well as a children's bathroom, it would be nice to see a shower also included in the children's bathroom. All in all though the shower block was fine with plenty of hot water.

Previous reviews mention that new play equipment was needed, and that a new climbing frame had been installed, as I previously stated I have 4 kids aged 7-12 and they thoroughly enjoyed the play area, and spent quite a bit of time on the 'old' slide, there is also a basketball net that my son spent hours playing with, with new friends he made.

The site is literally on the Salisbury race track and is an ideal location if you are planning on visiting the races (as we did, for a family race day).

If you're planning on staying for the race track the location is ideal, otherwise there didn't seem to be much else close by. I. E pub within walking distance or convenience store within walking distance.

There is also a basic shop, a tourist information booth and a post box on site.

We will definitely return to this site again.

We have stayed at this campsite every year since 1990. It is our favourite site because the view over the rolling hills is fabulous and because with the trees and grass pitches it has a very natural feeling. The owners are pleasant and helpful and everything is so informal - it's so relaxing.

At last they have some more play equipment besides the slide, however the owners don't really seem interested in meeting the needs of their guests because again they have missed the point. We don't need playtime for under 10 year olds whilst we stand there supervising them for 30 minutes. We need it for over 10 year olds that are out and about on this small campsite with nothing to do all day long! Just for starters, what about at least a couple of big swings - like we had there until 10 years ago??

The shower block is actually pretty good, but the cleaner must need glasses (especially in the ladies toilets). Yes, rather than small, soft, used soap bars, let's have some liquid soap dispensers (it's not that hard)! They put a sponge on every sink for people to wipe up after themselves, which is a nice idea and does seem to work.

We meet some families here year after year, which is nice for our children. Most visitors only stay for a day or two on their journey from Dover to Cornwall.

Salisbury town centre is about 10 minutes drive and of course you can walk to the race course in one minute. For cyclists, the site is at the top of a long hill - once was enough for me!

So what we have is a child friendly site (where they can cycle around and play ball games), that is very pleasant and quiet and is really well priced.

And yes, we shall drive for 4 hours just to go back there next July.

My husband, myself and our 3 kids stayed on this beautiful site for 2 nights over a weekend. We are local to Salisbury and the purpose of the weekend was to test out our new caravan and we were delighted with the beautiful quiet site and it didn't feel like we were so close to home.

The grounds were all nicely mowed grass and there were lovely trees and flowers. A very well maintained site.

There were some bbq pit areas with a picnic benches overlooking the hills which was a nice touch.

My biggest praise is the toilet and shower blocks. Immaculate and so sweet smelling! There was also a laundry room, washing up room and a kids bathroom which makes life so much easier.

This site is perfect if you want to attend the races or even sightseeing around the area as everything in easy reach.

We took our 2 mini dachshunds and there was a forest a few mins walk away so great for dog walking.

Although only 10 mins from our house it felt like we in the middle of the countryside. I recommend this site and would definitely be going again just to 'get away from it all'.

Visited this site for 3 nights between race meetings so it was very quiet.

A great site, really peaceful and well laid-out with lots of mature trees. Beautiful flower displays which gives the impression of a well cared for site. We use the furthest pitches that have beautiful views.

The facilities are excellent, good shower block with toilets, basins and showers. These had free hot water and were clean. There is a laundry room a dish washing area and a children's bathroom. Soap dispensers need to be added as this is now an essential for health and safety

Showers were roomy with an ingenious seat/door lock.

The owner is very friendly and helpful. It is just a 5 minute drive into Salisbury.

No play equipment but there is a big free space area which I believe is better than having cheap plastic/poor play equipment.

A small shop is run from reception. A really nice touch was the fresh produce and fresh potatoes were dug to order and delivered to us. Here you receive the personal touch and the lady owner is always willing to help and advise should you ask.

The site has been running for 30 years so they have lots of experience.

A great site which we would happily visit again.

Popular Choice in this Area

Cheddar Mendip Heights Club Site

Set in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Mendip Hills. There are 90 grass and hardstanding pitches some with hookup, for tents, caravans and motorhomes. The well laid out site has excellent shower and toilet facilities, including a family room, plus a laundry room and a well-stocked licensed shop selling local produce. Non members are welcome to book!

You can walk to the village of Priddy where you`ll find a popular pub serving food and the Priddy Good Farm Shop, selling a range of locally produced food. There are many attractions in this area of Somerset and the south west including Bath and Weston-super-Mare, and the site is ideally located, midway between Cheddar Gorge and Wells.  We stayed here for 2 nights, there was no racing on although there was a 60th birthday party on at the race ground, the band didn't start until 10. 30pm and went on until 12. 30am, our tent was backed onto the race course and so the site was far from tranquil and peaceful. The owners were not aware that this event was taking place.

The site is about 5 miles from Salisbury, the city is OK but don't plan on returning, but we were very impressed with Stonehenge

I would recommend pitching in the open field area with fantastic views rather than the more private pitches with hedges on 3 sides, these back on to the racecourse and have no view or sun.

I didn't think the shower block was spotlessly clean as mentioned in previous reviews, in fact they were grubby and didn't look clean at all and the idea of soap and sponges left on the sink for your use is disgusting and is just a magnet for germs. Take my advice owners get rid of the sponges and soap, get some soap dispensers.

I think the owners are very old school and the man didn't seem very friendly at all.

No play equipment for children except a very old rusty slide.

I would not stay at this camp site again

We enjoyed our stay at this site.

The shower and toilet facilities are of a good standard, and are very clean. The views are beautiful, over the rolling hills.

The site backs on to Salisbury race course. There wasn't an event on the weekend we visited so it was very quiet and peaceful.

The nearest pub is quite along walk along a foot path across the racecourse and adjoining golf course.

The site is a very traditional touring caravan site. The tent pitches are nice and flat. Pricing of the pitches is excellent and very good value for money.

Visited this site for 3 nights, with friends staying in one of the statics.

A great site, really peaceful and well laid-out with lots of mature trees and hedges breaking up the areas, plus beautiful flower beds (7000 flowers apparently!) making a glorious display. The furthest pitches have beautiful views over the Wiltshire countryside.

The facilities are excellent, good shower block with toilets, basins and showers. These had plenty of hot water and were clean. There is a laundry room (which we didn't use), a dishwashing area and a children's bathroom which actually has a bath - great when you have kids aged 4 & 1 and not something I have seen on a campsite before.

The owner is an older lady and she is very friendly and helpful. It is just a 5 minute drive into Salisbury and there are loads of things around to do come rain or shine (we had both!).

Only 1 large slide in terms of kids play equipment but there is a big area for them to play on just outside the shower block so even when the site is full they will be able to kick a ball.

All in all a great site which we would happily visit again.

We decided on a last minute getaway during May Half term and because of this struggled to get a reasonably priced site with pitches available.

We came across Coombe Caravan Park on your website and decided to give them a call. Not only were the prices very reasonable but they had space.

The site is ideally situated for many of the attractions we wanted to visit with our two boys, mainly Longleat Safari Park, and the British Superbikes was on at Thruxton that weekend so it worked out perfectly.

The site is beautifully kept, grass cut and looked after (no hardstandings but not a problem) wonderful views over the valley.

The shower/toilet block is clean and more than adequate with plenty of free hot water and warm for those chilly mornings. In the same block there is a really good laundry area and to the side sufficient washing up space.

The reception office also has a small shop which has your basic requirements as well as some quirky amusing items!

The site is situated at the back of Salisbury Racecourse, if you are a race fan an ideal base for the weekend!

It is hard to be critical of this little site but I suppose some extra play equipment for the children would be the icing on the cake as there is only an old slide, maybe a climbing frame and swing etc. Would be a welcome additions.

Be aware and don't be put off when you call for a booking that the lovely owners do not accept credit cards, in fact they only take cash or cheques on arrival. Amazingly they also do not send booking confirmations and do not ask for deposits and are happy just to take your name and phone number. If I honest this did worry me but on arrival was pleasantly surprised.

A great little site that we will definitely visit again!

I was really happy with this site. I like the fact that the tent pitches are around the edge of the field and have hedges on three sides, giving you that extra privacy. The field is nice and flat too.

The toilet block is absolutely spotless, large and well appointed. There's also a tourist information room with lots of leaflets about attractions in the local area.

The site was easy to find and the staff were pleasant.

I do think it was a tad expensive for a campsite, but I'd still stay here again because it was such a nice, clean, quiet site.
