We choose this site as 1, its a C&CC site, 2, it was Oxford way & 3, after two weeks touring South West England, I wanted somewhere were I knew the showers would be spotless.

We arrived and after waiting while different Wardens decided at what point and who would check us in (it was 3pm by now), we were shown to our pitch. I pointed out to the fella that I had booked a Grass Electric pitch plus awning not a mud patch with a bit of grass but the comedy was lost so I accepted it knowing the awning tiles would cover it and at least it was dry.

WARNING, the site has very hard stones just an inch or so beneath the grass on both levels so rock or steel pegs may be required for you awning, tent pegs. We helped a tenting family set up during our stay and found an angle of 30 degrees helped but still bent about 75% of their pegs.

This toilet block was old but kept to a high standard and one night whilst using it, a found a Warden in the block at 2250hrs so it seems they don't rest easily.

If your tall like me you might find the shower heads annoying as they don't really move much and set at a height of about 5 foot 8 inches and so with me, at 6 foot plus, had to constantly bend over to get a decent shower although on the plus side, they are not button or sensor controlled so you get a constant, hot shower.

The site is overall lovely, and the playground is just enough to keep the kids amused for those moments in the day that you want them out of the van, but this site is soft balls only as there is no field or meadow nearby.

The dog walk is not much but a 50 yard (signposted) walk from the site to the Woodland walk is well worth it if doggie needs a good run or you just fancy a walk.

When you arrive, just check what times things open and close there as the toilet blocks closed 1030 till 1115 each day, then the shop closed 12pm till 4pm daily.

Overall the site was lovely, even if the Wardens seem to have a love / hate relationship with you. My wife asked to by a flag while there for her collection and was told she had to return to the van and get our booking number to buy it! Not nice when our van was pitched at the furthest pitch away from the office.

Apart from the above good and bad bits, I feel that the staff go a big way to keeping this site fresh despite that fact that it is becoming old and could do with a little bit of our membership money being put back into it as it was nearly full throughout our stay.

Just returned from weekend stay at this campsite. Arrived in the pouring rain to find they had lost our booking, they found us a tent pitch but with no electric hook up.The pitch was located close to the road at the far end of the site. Traffic runs very close and can be very noisy at this end of the site. Washing and toilet block facilities were kept tidy and clean, but annoyingly they were closed from 10:30 to 12:30 to perform this operation which seemed both a little excessive and poorly timed if you enjoy a lay-in.

Pitches were a little cramped but the kids enjoyed the small play area.

Overall poor value for money and they need to sort their bookings properly. I doubt we will be returning soon to this site. The surrounding area is lovely and fortunately the rain which greeted us lifted and the sun shone for the rest of the stay.

Having booked a 26' service pitch (inc. Hook-up, we were told, on arrival, there was no such pitch available. The situation was eventually sorted but the manageress. The pitch we were eventually allocated was noisy, cramped and had no privacy at all (I could reach out of our side window and touch our next-door-neighbour's car!).The A361, a busy road during the day from 6.00 am onwards, runs right along one side of the site and is noisy.

The amenity block, however, was clean enough although somewhat tired and by no means large enough for the number of units crammed into the site like sardines (men's block; 3 showers,3 toilet cubicles, a couple of strip-wash cubicles and a handful of sinks to serve 105 pitches).

The site had some lovely flower baskets and beds and the grass was kept well-cut.

The village of Chadlington is just over a mile away and has a lovely little pub, The Tite Inn, which has a super beer garden and plenty of 'olde worlde' charm.

The site's location is good, being handy for Oxford, Cheltenham, Stratford and a host of beautiful little Cotswold villages. And Chipping Norton, only a couple of miles up the road, has a Sainsbury's and a Co-op and a great deli and is a nice little town.

Stayed for a long weekend and were sited in the lower field on a standard pitch. Away from the main road, which can be noisy at peak times, this was on a flat elevated pitch backing onto the upper field, and gave an excellent view of the site.

All was as you would expect from the C&CC, with good shower/toilet block and well maintained pitches.

Caught bus into Chipping Norton one day and rode through the Cotswolds visiting the Gloucester & Warwickshire Railway the other. Both recommended.

All in all site recommended. Only down side being that the nearest pub is a mile and a half walk away and it's all up hill on the way back!

I visited this site over the weekend and was very pleased with it. As the previous reviews have said, the toilet and shower facilities are dated but were kept very clean. They are closed for 1.5 hours every morning for cleaning, so they ought to be well done!

The site is divided into two areas - one lower field which was mainly for caravans and then an upper field for tents (no EHU in the upper field). It felt quite crowded in the lower field (which is where the toilet block is) but the upper field was much more spacious. There is a small children's playground (couple of swings and a climbing frame with slide) which was on a nicely barked area. My daughter loved it and as we had the pitch right next to it I was able to let her play and keep an eye on her.

The managers of the site were very friendly and showed us to the pitch and we were able to discuss exactly where the tent needed to be etc.

There was some traffic noise, but mainly it was only noticeable when the boy racers were going past (happened a couple of times over the weekend).

We visited the Wildlife Park, which was an easy drive away but the site is well placed for most of the major Cotswolds attractions, Bourton-on-the-Water etc.

Overall I would highly recommend to other tent owners, particularly if you don't need EHU. I would suggest taking directions with you rather than relying on satnav though - our satnav got us hopefully lost and we had to ring the site and get them to talk us in from Chipping Norton. My only gripe was that the listing said there were freezer facilities, but when my husband went to ask where it was he was told there wasn't any. That threw us out a bit!

We stayed here for the May Day Bank hol weekend.

On arrival we were met by all four wardens. To select our pitch one hopped on a bike and led us to where the remaining vacant pitches were. We were then given guidance on how to pitch and how much room we had. Our pitch backed on to the dog walk which is short and sweet so did not cause a problem, a better dog walk is from the site and over the road down a woodland track.

Children are welcome and there is a small play area for them on the upper level. The shop is tiny but sold bread, milk, eggs, newspapers and a few other essentials. The toilet block could do with some updating but overall were kept clean and had flowers for decoration!

Would stay at this site again. It is more of a stop off point than a longer stay. You are near a road but do not really get bothered by noise.

Had electric hook up.

We met up with a group of friends for the August Bank Holiday at Chipping Norton and wished we had read the previous reviews before going so we would know what to expect.

The site is in need of updating. There were only 3 showers and 4 toilets in the ladies' and with over 100 pitches. I mopped out the shower early Saturday morning with water that looked as if it had come from the bilges of a Thames barge.

The site is not level - not a problem until it rains and the water collects under your breathable floor, and rises in pools under your feet when you walk through the awning.

As you have guessed - we were not impressed and will not return.

We have just returned from a 6 night stay at this lovely clean, well-kept campsite. The wardens were friendly and welcoming and when asked what sort of pitch we required – took us to exactly what we’d asked for. He suggested we may like to park side-on to the perimeter hedge to give us a better view. This was surprising – and much appreciated - as most sites require you to reverse into your space. This friendly, relaxed approach was evident throughout our stay and made for a lovely, relaxing holiday.

The toilet & shower block was rather dated but the wardens kept it clean and tidy with continuous hot water throughout the week in spite of the campsite being full over the weekend. The dog walk was fairly short but adequate for those early morning and late night visits for the dogs and almost everyone had cleaned up after their dog.

Our only adverse comments are about the chemical waste disposal. It seemed some campers were using it to dispose of nappies and causing it to block at very regular intervals and the poor wardens had the unenviable task of clearing it - sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. When this happened the smell that wafted across the campsite was none too pleasant - especially as the weather was extremely hot!

That aside, we had a great stay. It’s a lovely area and the campsite is central to so many places to visit. Among the many beautiful Cotswold villages, Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford are a must.

We will certainly return to this campsite to take in some more of the area.

Very friendly reception, and very helpful when I explained we couldn't level our very old VW Type2, so needed a flat pitch. We were taken to the upper field which has the flatest pitches, and lucklily our hook up lead could still reach the electric points - they even helped us level the van up with a spirit level. Toilet block was clean with everything you needed, with very hot water. The pub recommended by reception was a 20 min walk - there is a path after the first 200 yards of busy road, and they give a 20% discount on main course to anyone from the campsite. Was a bit expensive but quite good. The road noise was only a problem when rush hour started - would stay here if passing through, but not for an extended holiday.

Having just returned from a weekend at Chipping Norton, I am afraid to say it is the first time I havent been overly impressed by a C&CC site, or by any campsite in general.

The manageress, Rosemary, seemed to have a very odd sense of humour - either that or she was just plain rude. She seemed to take offence at anything we said, from 'do you sell bread' to 'wheres the nearest pub' everything seemed like a chore to her.

The site itself is lovely, it was packed full this weekend but still not too noisy where we were. The toilets were clean and tidy, although a bit dated, and the showers were nice and hot. The septic tank outside did smell a abit and I wouldnt have liked to have been to close to it.

The piches are not very level, but this is no hardship to us, as I cant level the van for my life anyway!

The nearest pub (I think it was called the Albion) was very expensive! We planned to eat there, but after paying £6.80 for 2 drinks we decided not to bother!

All in all, mainly down to the personlity of the manageress, we wouldnt return.
