Definitely the best site if you want to see Bristol. Well kept showers and loos etc but the real plus is the location. A BS1 postcode. Very close to the city centre. (About a 20 min walk) Definitely recommended.

This is the second time that we have stayed at Baltic Wharf Caravan Club Site. It is a really great place for a city break. The facilities are good and the wardens are friendly. It is a very popular site and as to be booked well in advance. We booked in December when the dates came out. For us this is the only downside having to book so far in advance and never being able to go for an inpromptu visit at the weekends. The site is right on Baltic Wharf, you can get the ferry across the river and there is a discount when you show your CC membership card. The Cottage pub is just a 2 minute stroll away and the food is excellant and plentiful. You can take your patio chairs out onto the riverside and sit and watch the world go by, with a drink that you have bought at The Cottage, or even your own bottle of wine. What is not to like about Baltic Wharf and Bristol. There is so much to see and do, we never tire of going there and would highly recommend this CC site.

Just returned from this great site and have been informed by the warden that the lease has been extended for another three years, Great news. The powers that be have seen the light and realise what an asset this site is to Bristol. The revenue what it brings in to the local businesses is tremendous and the location suits the local people.

First time here for us and sadly our last as the site closes at the end of August (due to the local council thinking a new primary school is priority).

Excellent little site and one that certainly won't be replaced.

50 or so pitches, all hardstanding, some with a patch of grass too! EHU and TV hook ups on each pitch. Small toilet/shower block, always clean, never busy and radio 2 piped in all day long. Under cover washing up area, laundry, information room and recycling also available. Small shop/office and lovely wardens (especially Myra) full of useful information.

You're given a key to the 'back gate' which takes you directly onto the waterfront at Baltic Wharf, where you can stroll into the city or take a water taxi (discount for CC members). Buses also run regularly from the site entrance and there's also a McColls (Newsagent and general supplies) shop a few minutes walk from the site entrance. Oh and we can't forget the Cottage Inn, almost next door, always busy, good pub grub, not over priced and a good selection of local real ales and cider. We ate in a lovely Indian restaurant too - Raj Bari in Hotwells (the other side of the water), and very nice it was too!

Plenty to see and do in Bristol city centre from the harbour area, the old city, the shopping centres, the markets and the SS Great Britain to name but a few. Lots of places to eat and drink with food from literally across the world. Bristol really is a very vibrant, multi cultural city (we loved it).

We are just so sorry we'd not stayed at Baltic Wharf before now because I have no doubts we'd have stayed again and again. A little gem for the CC, that will sadly be gone forever soon. Please have a re-think Bristol Council.

We stayed at this campsite last weekend after being 'let down' by another site. The couple running the site were lovely and we were very grateful to be given a pitch as we turned up late in the day without a booking. They were extremely helpful and friendly and can see why people return. Very sad to learn that the site will be closing at the end of the year as it is a perfect location for exploring Bristol. Just behind the site is a good friendly pub serving good food and you can also take a ferry from here right into the centre of town.

Looking forward to getting at least one more visit in before they have to close. The lady running the ferry was leading a campaign to try and save the site and we hope they are successful.

Exe Valley Caravan Site - Exmoor

This award winning Adults Only campsite has a working 17th century watermill in a peaceful wooded valley within the Exmoor National Park. Grass and hardstanding pitches, all set beside the River Exe or the sparkling mill stream, with electric, water, drainage, and TV hook-ups. A leisurely stroll up to a weir, and an area where dogs may run free and splash in the river.

Facilities include the beautiful dog walk, free wifi, fishing, modern toilet and shower block, dog wash, working watermill (tours on most Sunday mornings), salmon pass on the weir, shop, bus service, and excellent pubs in the locality. The site has beautiful views, an abundance of wildlife and many footpaths leading directly to the Exmoor woodlands and rivers. Find out more here

Absolutely Fabulous site. Its in a great location to explore Bristol with direct access to the Floating Harbour and riverside walks, local pub, water taxis to Bristol centre etc. Toilet block, wardens and facilities are up to the usual Caravan standards.

Its a pity its closing.

The council opened the site and the council are closing it. They are apparently not going to allow the caravan club to continue their lease and build a school.

What a fine site this is - in the centre of a fine city too.

It's not the most pretty site I have ever pitched in, it's more like a car park than a camp site. But that just doesn't matter.

It almost goes without saying that the site is beautifully maintained - well done to the wardens for that.

I wish all club sites had a private back gate opening onto a harbour walk. It was simply great to exit via the gate and walk along the harbour side into the city centre. Fortuitously we stayed there during the Bristol harbour festival - that turned a good stay into a great stay.

Such a shame the site is due to close at the end of 2014.

We stayed at Baltic Wharf for one night in June 2014 as an overnight stop on our way down to Plymouth to catch the Ferry to Spain.

The site itself is nothing special. Just a large gravel area marked into pitches but it was clean and well looked after with a good toilet block. What makes Baltic Wharf really special is the location. If you exit the gate at the back of the site you are right on the river bank and you can either walk into the centre of Bristol or catch the shuttle boat which goes from just outside the site. We arrived mid afternoon and used the boat to be able to explore a bit of Bristol which was really interesting and made us think about returning again for a longer stay.

A word of warning though! If you are barbecuing, watch out for the seagulls. We had our burgers on the BBQ and I popped inside the caravan to get some utensils and when I went out again (30 seconds later) one of the burgers was gone. I thought my husband was playing a trick on me but he promised he wasn't and about 30 seconds later we saw what had happened as another seagull swooped down and stole another burger right off the BBQ.

We visited in March just to start this year off. Online booking says full most of the year, so ring the site instead! Really great wardens. Going back again in May for a weekend. Caught the bus into town last visit, shame the bus had an accident on the way back! No one hurt, just the buses. Great little pub just through the back gate.

To Find Site:- From M5 at junction 18 take A4 towards Bristol City Centre. Once under the Clifton Suspension Bridge watch out for signs for SS Great Britain and follow these to campsite which is on the same road.

Baltic Wharf is a small open all year site next to the Floating Harbour in Bristol. There are only 48 pitches all of which are on gravel hardstandings. Non-members are accepted. It is a very popular location so advance booking is usually required. Some pitches will accept awning but not all. Electric point are convenient to all pitches and are rated at 16amps using CEE17 blue connectors. They also have TV connections but you need your own cable or be prepared to purchase one from reception. The toilet block is near the site entrance and up to the usual CC standards. It also contains a covered washing up area. Next to reception is an Information Hut with lots of local information. Site wide WiFi is available and time can be purchased online. There are no play facilities or dog walk at Baltic Wharf. Being a city centre site there will be some noise but it does not become intrusive.

The beauty of this site is that the centre of Bristol is not far away with its massive choice of eating establishments within walking distance. Alternatively it can be reached by bus or ferry but best to check operating times if a late return is likely. There is a pub next door to the campsite that does food if you don’t want to venture far. The SS Great Britain is a short stroll from the site. The Clifton Suspension Bridge is also only a short distance away. All shopping needs will be found in Bristol City Centre although there is also a convenience store 5 minutes along the main road from the site.

The Caravan Club have recently announced that this site is likely to close because the local Council want to redevelop the land. However it should remain open at least to January 2015.
