 Very well maintained site with immaculate facilities (they were being cleaned almost every time we went in.) Play park kept the kids entertained well enough and the beach is just feet away. Nice walk along beach and round into little coves which were strewn with washed up shells, millions of them.
Staff were all very helpful and friendly. No complaints at all.
Definitely recommend this site for those looking for a relaxing break.

This was our first visit to this campsite, although my hubby and I are very familiar with the area. We chose it because of hubby's mobility problems, and it didn't disappoint. In fact, we were knocked out both with the level walking, the beautiful beach, and the friendliness and helpfulness of both staff and other visitors to the site. Also, the 'residents' in the privately owned static caravans were most welcoming and helpful.
Sandyhills is a quiet site, and although there is a small swing park for kids, it's probably not going to be your choice if you want night life, as there are no bars or other entertainment on the site, although there are plenty of eating and watering holes in the surrounding locality. However, we perceive no bars to be one of the big attractions - no noise at night. The only sounds you'll hear are the sounds of the birds. In fact, it's a great wildlife area, and within a few hours of arriving, we saw a variety of birds and heard an owl.
The hire caravans are kept in immaculate condition and ours was brand new this month. A pass key is issued at check-in which is used to raise the traffic barrier (no extra charge although I can't answer for tenters, etc).
Tenters and caravanners are issued with their own key for the toilets,and there is a plentiful supply of hookups. I never got fed up with my daily walks and we were very fortunate with the weather. You could take a different route every day and still find plenty to enjoy.
Highly recommended - we've booked up again for later in the year.

I used to stay at this campsite every year for about 10 years. Granted I was a child but I have the most wonderful memories of this place and would definatly recommend anyone to go. The location is amazing, there are plenty of walks and cycle routes there's a swimming pool 5mins down the road. There used to be a local riding centre next to the pool. There are great local villages and towns nearby.
The whole place is truly a wonderful experience.

We booked this site for 4 days. First time I had been camping since I'd been a kid, had to pay £25 deposit for a key for the barrier to let you on the site and £5 for your shower and toilet block key, which you get back on departure.
The site was quiet to start of with but started to get busy as time got on, the facilties were clean, plenty of hot water for showers, a small park for the kids and the beech backs on to the site and a wooded area and stream on the other side things. It quieted down about 10.30 to 1100pm at night.
There is a small shop and snack bar on site, be prepaired to not see the sea at low tide, when it goes out it goes out.
I would recommend this site for a total chill out weekend and I will return.

Excellent location for Sandyhills Beach. Site was mainly flat - would suit smaller tents - anyone with a frame tent might struggle to find a totally flat pitch. Facilities fair - toilets & shower block very clean, with plenty of (free) hot water - although floors in shower cubicles can get slippery! £5 returnable deposit for key to enter same, which I suppose keeps the occasional passer-by out (there is a footpath through the site which leads to a popular walk). Small shop on site, not very well stocked, although you could get a daily paper. Described in brochure as 'licensed' - what I saw was a few bottles of wine and whisky, and tins of McEwans beer for sale. Kids play area kept Joe interested for a good while - but consisted mainly of swings and see-saws. The real 'entertainment' was the beach though - plenty of clean sand and a few small sheltered rocky bays - ideal for the nipper to swim in. Look out for the wildlife - saw three LARGE jellyfish (dead) washed up, and a snake on one of the sandy footpaths. A site we will probably visit again as part of a 'tour', but wouldn't stay for more than a couple of days.

Have not been for a while but it has great expance of beach and a smashing golf course near by. The toilets were clean.
