To find site:- From A68 take A6091 towards Galashiels. Do not turn right at first sign for Melrose (road narrow and twisty in places) but continue to roundabout and head for Melrose from this end of town. The site is signed to the right opposite the Melrose Rugby Club.
Gibson Park is situated in an urban area on the edge of the town of Melrose in the Borders of Scotland. It is a very popular site and booking is advised. The site is open all year and accepts non-members. There is a tent area but during our visit this was closed so best to check with the site if you wish to use this facility. The site has 60 pitches all of which are on hardstanding including 5 on tarmac for motorhome use. Some of the hardstanding pitches are serviced for which there is an additional extra nightly charge. The electric bollards also have a digital TV connector but you have to provide your own cable or purchase one from reception. There is one toilet block which is up to normal Club standards and it also has a covered washing up area. Reception sells a variety of caravanning bits and pieces. Site wide WiFi has recently been installed on this site.
The town of Melrose has several nice looking restaurants and couple of cafes. There is a Co-Op and Spar in the town as well as fuel station. For more serious shopping Galashiels a few miles away would be worth considering as it has both a Tesco and ASDA supermarkets, the latter having a fuel station. Public transport in the form of buses is available from near to the site. Gibson Park would be an excellent base for exploring this part of Scotland.

We're just back from 2 nights at this site. It is excellent for motorhomes as it is just a couple of minutes walk from shops, bars and restaurants and a few minutes walk away from fabulous walks along the river Tweed.
We have two dogs so enjoy the type of site where we can walk them off the lead for a couple of hours. You can also get a bus into Edinburgh from near the site entrance.
Very friendly wardens. Huge pitches, all hard standing and separated by hedges. Extremely warm and spacious toilet and shower facilities. Copious hot water in the dish washing area.
Fully serviced pitches available if required. Open all year. Can't fault it.

Spent New Year here. Great, lots of snow. Warm and clean toilet blocks and friendly staff. All path ways and roads to pitches cleared and gritted
Short walk into Melrose, celebrated at The Kings Arms Hotel then Fireworks round the Christmas Tree in the square
Have booked again for 2011
Lots to do and see in the area. Cannot comment on children area as did not use.
Would be just as good any time of the year, plenty of shops, pubs and places to eat in the town and of course the Whisky shops, The Abbey, and of course the rugby sevens.

Used this site as a stopover when returning from Scotland. It's set in a residential area, and is a very short walk to the town centre of Melrose, which has a range of shops and places to eat and drink. Melrose Abbey is also worth a look. The Eildon Hills offer good walking opportunities and can be accessed directly from the town.
Facilities at Gibson Park are excellent, as you'd expect from a club site. Huge pitches, TV and electric points and great showers.
This is the 2nd time I've visited the site and I'd certainly go again.

We stayed at this site for 2 nights and found it a good starting point for further push into Scotland. Beware when arriving from the town side as the sign to the site is hidden by bushes and is easily missed which means a bit of a drive to turn around in a motorhome.
The entrance is immediately after the petrol station and before the school. The wardens are efficient and friendly. The pitches are large and level with good separation using high bushes which also give some shelter.
The showers and washing facilities are clean but there is no alternate when cleaning is in progress. Melrose is only a few minutes walk from the site but the rural feel to the site is still maintained. It is adjacent to a primary school so the sound of kids’ laughter at playtime is a bonus to most and something to annoy if you are a grouch.
The shopping is adequate for most things with a couple of small supermarkets and lots of small shops to browse. The must see is the abbey which can take up at least an afternoon. For a reasonable entrance fee, an audio guided tour gives a remarkable glimpse into the past. On site there is not much for children but only a 15 minute stroll to the outskirts of town bring you to 100 Aker Garden Centre which boasts a woodland walk with many rescue animals and a bouncy castle which will keep them happy.
Night life in Melrose is quiet but several good hotel bars serving meals and a friendly pub are available. Hand pulled ale is to be found! The site is secure (150 yards from the police station) and well lit.
Overall this is a very well run site which offers a good springboard to the rest of Scotland if travelling from England.

This site is a gem, a credit to the Caravan Club and one of the best we have stayed at. We want to keep this one to ourselves and also tell the world about it!
Although situated just off a main road, minutes walk away from the ton of Melrose and next door to a very popular tennis club our 2 night midweek visit was perfect in every way.
The site is very attractive, well maintained and the toilets, showers and washing up area were immaculate. Hardstanding pitches with EHU were spacious and there were grassy areas in between if you liked the feeling of the green stuff under your feet. Our pitch was on the tennis club side and although tennis was played until 9pm you never felt irritated by the sound.
A short stroll across the road and up through park grounds next to the rugby club takes you to the River Tweed and lovely riverside walks on both sides, opposite side to the the town is accessed by a stunning suspension bridge. Signposts from the town also direct you to the Abbey.
There isn't anything on site to amuse children but there is an excellent playpark on the other side of the tennis club next to the school and we would thoroughly recommend the 100 Aker Wood garden centre, again a short walk from the town centre, which has an animal and bird rescue centre, fairy lights woodland walk with play and eating areas (only children pay a small entrance fee).
We didn't need to use any of the local shops but there were plenty to choose from including a late opening supermarket and the town boasts many watering holes with eating facilities. We ate at The Ship on our first night, a traditional cosy pub bedecked in flowers. Both food and ale were the biz.
Would we visit again.Oh yes!

Just got home today from this site after staying a week, and what a lovely site it is, one of the best sites we have been to. It is very well kept, someone is always busy around the site doing cleaning, gardening etc.
The toilets were spotless. A few places in the area to do with small children, there is a big play park right next to the site and also a small one by the Abbey.
The 100 Acre wood visitor centre in Melrose has a woodland walk and bouncy castle. Also in Galashiels we found a ceramic pottery place with a children's ball pit in and they can paint some pottery,it was good value for money.
The Kings Arms pub in Melrose was a good place to eat. A brilliant week had by all, and we hope to go back next year for 2 weeks this time. Need to book early to aviod disappointment.

Had a 3 night stay here when the weather was not at its best.
Site was full and had been booked well in advance as you must do.
Pitches are all hard standing and plenty of space.
Facilities were spotless, showers were great with plenty hot water. Site was well maintained.
2 min walk into Melrose with plenty of small shops and eating places.
We followed the directions supplied and found it much easier.
Good riverside walk as well as the Abbey to visit.
Would recommend.

This is now a regular visit for us. It's such a peaceful, well laid out and convenient site. The toilet block is up to Caravan Club standards, the pitches are neat, tidy and spacious, and the town is a little bit of heaven.
Can't really think of anything negative to say at this moment, other than its difficult to get in to the site if you haven't booked during the summer season.

What a fabulous site,it is very very maintained. The wardens are very helpful.
The site is set on the edge of the town and you can buy anything you require, although I wouldn't recommend the 1st butchers you come to.
The towns of Hawick and Galashiels do have larger supermarkets and worth a trip out to see. It is very well situated in a beautiful part of the country and we look forward to visiting again soon
