Nice site, as we have come to expect from all Caravan Club sites we have visited so far. Warden friendly and welcoming. Site was clean and well maintained. Shower block warm and very clean. Only drawback was the noise from the adjacent tennis/rugby pitch which continued throughout the day until around 9pm. Didn't realise when we chose the pitch that there would be rather loud instructor-led tennis and rugby coaching. This didn't bother us but if you want peace and quiet, you should choose a pitch at the opposite end of the site, ie, away from the shower block area. Melrose itself was very pleasant and we enjoyed a lovely evening meal at the King's Arms. We will definitely return to Gibson Park at a later date.

This site is only 5 miles from home, but handy for our first trip away in new caravan.
The wardens were very friendly & welcoming. They do a good job of keeping the site clean & tidy. The toilets were immaculate & probably the best shower I have had on a caravan site.
The well equipped play park is next to the site & the shops are 2 minutes walk. We were able to send the kids up themselves to get our bits & pieces. Would visit again & would recommend highly.

Second visit to this site and I need to retract some of the negative remarks I made in my first review. The wardens (different ones) couldn't have been more helpful and once again we didn't have the proper connector for the water. They offered us the loan of one but at £1.75 we bought one. It was below 6 degrees when we were there and the site was full but not one bit of bother with the electrics.
The Kings Arms is under new management. Still dog friendly and fab food. They have a special menu in the bar £3.99 for a starter and a main course. Fab portions and a good choice. You can't ask for more than that. We will definitely be returning. On site dog walk is great and always immaculate.

Stayed here for a night on our way to more northerly parts of Scotland, but we could easily have stayed longer. The site is in the centre of Melrose, which is a nice little town with a range of places to eat and drink, as well as the impressive Melrose Abbey. Within easy walking distance are the Eildon Hills, which make for excellent days out walking.
The site itself is excellent. All pitches are flat and hardstanding, with EHU and TV point. Showers and toilets were of an excellent standard. Staff on site were helpful and friendly. Overall, an excellent site, which I intend to return to soon.

What a nice well run caravan park this is, pitches are huge, toilets nipping clean, handy dog walk (small),wardens very helpful. The park is all most in melrose village and what a cracking place, quite quaint with some excellent walks leading straight from the town. Would recommend this site highly. Close by is galashiels with a huge tesco, asda and many other retail shops, also the town is quite large with cinema, shops, pubs, etc.

Lovely site well up to CC standards.
We were there during a spell of heavy rain meaning some of the hard standing pitches flooded - including ours. Nothing serious but under a couple of inches of water.
Apart from that no complaints and we will be going back in September 2009.

Lovely clean and well cared for site, as stated its a very short walk from town, which has all you need, bakers, butchers, pubs, hotels, eating places. We went to the Italian Restaurant which is situated at the top end of town in the old Railway Station (Waverley Line) it was good value and excellent quality. Wish it was a little closer to us for weekends, will defo call again.

Usual high standards provided by Caravan Club with regards to the site and showers. Site full sign out on arrival but had booked some months before. Five minute walk and you are in the town which is pleasant with plenty of eating places and food shops. Agree with the other comments about the very good Butchers where I spent over £35 in one day just a shame the Butcher was void of any customer skills and always appeared to be doing me a favour serving me. Could it be the site is providing too good a living for him.
Anyway nice place for a stop over.

What another fantastic site, we had a choice of pitch. The site was tucked away next to playing fields so we didnt find it the first time. Its passed the garage, first left. It was a 5 minute walk into the town centre, where there is 2 excellent butchers and a veggie shop, plus other shops. We bought the tastiest stawberries and raspberries we've ever had, and very resonably priced. We took the dog with us for our 2 night break so its very handy when the local pubs allow you to take your dog inside, which was just what the Kings Arms allowed us to do.
The people of Melrose are very friendly, what lovely people. The dog was even spoilt in the pub, as he was given dog biscuits whilst we were enjoying the local ales. The whole area is very picturesque and to top it all there is a fantastic abbey right in the town centre, and the river Tweed is right on your doorstep. We will definitely be back again.

Excellent well positioned site sitting in the village itself. The usual high standard we have come to expect on a CC site. The cycling, walking & dog walks were superb. The local pub 'The Kings Arms ' welcomes children and pets. They also do lovely food at reasonable prices.
One down side. I felt at this site we were ripped off by the CC club. I'll explain. We were on a fully serviced pitch.
1. Now at home all garden hoses are fitted with a female and your tap has the male. Well guess what at this site it's the opposite. BUT surprise surprise they sell double male fittings in the site shop.
2. In the information booth there was a map supplied by the local vets showing all the local dog walks. Now this booth was full of leaflets for all the local attractions but above this map it said available from the site office. So we duly went into the office and requested one only to be told by the warden we must make a donation into the charity box before we can get a map. Now I don't grudge the donation but I was angry at being conned/dictated into having to donate to a cause wether I wanted to or not
These negative points did not spoil our break but I am upset at the tactics used by the CC to make money.
