Just spent a great night at Philpin Farm. Great amenities which were kept spotless by Dave and Carol.

WiFi in barn fantastic as no mobile signal and snack bar and vending machine a great idea.

Loved the local info on display to give ideas for walks in the area.

Ingleton close enough for pubs and Coop for bits and bobs but nice sense of tranquillity back at the camp.

Definitely not the last visit to Philpin !

I think I have found my second home in the camping field here.

I can't wait to return.

Thank you, facilities immaculate, grass pitches perfectly kept and hospitality excellent.

The site was easily found using Waze on my mobile with the postcode as search term. The site appeared welcoming and was only sparsely populated with a few small tents. The entrance to field is at the top, and then slopes away quite steeply to an apparently level area at the bottom.

Most pitches appear to be sloping (I didn't check at the bottom of the field, the walk back was intimidating!)

The hosts, Dave and Carol were friendly and knowledgeable. Carol would come and chat to campers in the early evening to ask how your day had been, and your plans, etc.

There were plenty of signs and notices giving information including a big board in the barn with local tourist information. The barn also contained several tables and chairs where campers could sit, eat and drink. It got quite busy on the last evening before I left. At weekends a snack bar in the barn serves food and drink, and it's possible to order in advance, including packed lunches.

There is a small car park just outside the top of the camping field, this is needed because cars aren't allowed on the field, not even for loading and unloading- another reason to stay at the top of the field! The car park was full with 8 cars in it.

The entrance to the toilet/shower block is off the car park, there are 2 shower rooms, lovely hot, controllable showers with plenty of power, and 2 toilets, one of which is an accessible toilet room. The ambiance is "rustic" but it suits the site.

When I opened the tent door in a morning, the view was simply magnificent, and made all the effort worthwhile.

There's a pub a couple of hundred yards walk from the site entrance, and 2 miles further on is the Ribblehead viaduct on the Settle-Carlisle railway. There's a small exhibition in Ribblehead Station building, worth a look if railway history interests you, and you can park up (if in a vehicle) and walk to the viaduct itself.

There's an award-winning Fish and Chip Shop in Ingleton, open only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. They serve excellent fish'n'chips!

At the roadside between Ingleton and the site is White Scar Cave, where guided tours explain the geology of the area and show off some interestingly strange rock formations. It's quite strenuous, with some low-roofed areas and lots steps to climb, culminating in the largest underground cavern in Europe, discovered by spelunkers in 1971.

The area generally is a paradise for walkers, and cyclists seem to like it too (bit too hilly for my old legs!)

A good time- I'd go back and hope for better weather.

Stunning location between Ingleborough and Whernside with easily accessible footpaths in all directions - ideal for taking on the Three Peaks - we had a great day for it on the Friday!

Camping on a working farm gives it a unique and authentic feel - we enjoyed hearing the whistle for the sheepdogs and watching as the sheep were rounded up each morning. The relative remoteness added to the vibe with cars parked away from pitches - there are a few pubs close by and a useful CO-OP in Ingleton however.

The hosts were friendly, visible and approachable, they came to check on all campers during the evening and the snack bar in the barn at the weekends is a great touch. The barn also provided shelter from the elements during our stay and was a great space to socialise.

The hot and powerful showers were very much appreciated to warm up after several cold nights and soothe weary bodies after long days exploring.

There was plenty of space on site and we felt safe at all times with the measures put in place to mitigate the risk of covid.

Beautiful location. Didn't manage to do much walking, but loved the place and enjoyed seeing the sheep dogs working.

Friendly and helpful owners.

You'll probably find a short walk between your car and the pitch owing to hilly terrain.

Lovely setting for the campsite, one of the best we've come across. Carol is the perfect host and the facilities are kept tidy and clean.

At the weekends and other times there is a snack bar on site which will do you a full cooked breakfast and/or a packed lunch. Unlike a lot of other campsites there are lots of walks immediately accessible.

We didn't take kids or our dog although could have: I didn't spot any specific play areas for kids though there is a great barn with free wifi

Good customer service. Will go back next year.

Excellent location for the three peaks weather you are doing one or all of them. Shame the pub wasnít open when we were there.

This is the perfect campsite! Amazing views, no cars on site, communal barn to use, snack bar with breakfast and fab cakes,

Clean and warm toilet, phone charging, freezer block freezing and the staff are so welcoming.

Will definitely be back.
