A very informal and relaxed site on a working farm on the edge of the village. Location is not signposted and it's not immediately obvious.

Entrance is through a gate and then a tight turn between farm buildings and into either the tent or caravan field. Reception is at the farmhouse opposite the entrance.

The village is quite pleasant with three pubs and various small shops.

I'd recommend 'The Cheviot' for both food and beer. They also provide a carry-out service. I would also suggest a visit to the local Heritage centre museum, a short walk from the site.

On a cautionary note, many of the minor roads round Bellingham are in a terrible state. Little more than a series of potholes held together with tarmac.

Good positioned site with very friendly owners on a working sheep farm. The toilet blocks are good clean with free hot showers, also here you can find handy take away information about the surrounding area. Two fields one for vans with ehu and one for tents, both have lovely views.

Bellingham is a busy little village, it offers a garage, three pubs, a co-op which is open late, a bank, a post office, a Chinese take-away, a quality butchers, a bakers, and a fruit and veg shop, a gift shop etc.

For those who like to walk there are lovely walks around Bellingham, along the river bank dotted with picnic tables, or across the six clearly marked bridges to see the waterfall.

All in all a great little site with ehu for £20pn can't wait to visit again soon.

Well, just returned from nearly 2 weeks at this site, what a pleasure!

Extremely well kept, well positioned site, with helpful friendly owners, well laid out on a working farm.

The facilities were largely fine, although the toilet blocks did get busy over the weekend we were there, as the site had a lot of campers, and although I never had to wait to use anything, I timed my use of the block according to the time of day which made it easier.

The site was busy all the while we were there, we spoke to quite a few who visit this site on a regular basis, it's easy to understand why.

Bellingham is a busy little village, it offers a garage, three pubs of which we would highly recommend the 'Cheviot', a co-op which is open late, a bank, a post office, a chinese take-away, a quality butchers, a bakers, and a fruit and veg. Shop, bike hire, a gift shop etc. And don't miss the Heritage centre just up from the site, interesting and informative, with a great little coffee shop, (old train carriages) on site.

A notice reminding dog owners to clear up after their pets would be a bonus, one dog owner allowed it's animal to foul right next to our water supply tank outside the caravan, and clearly did not think it was their problem. Not nice.

The only negative comment I would add, and this is nothing to do with the site itself, is that access to Bellingham is via 'B roads' only, and whereas the roads are not in bad condition, they are very up and down, lots of sharp bends, and generally quite narrow, something to be well aware of if towing a large-ish caravan.

Would we visit this site again? Most definitely, probably sooner rather than later, it's a smashing site, a great base for touring round a whole load of interesting places to visit, and don't miss the sunday market in Newcastle under the Tyne Bridge, it's on until 4 in the afternoon.

£20 per night including EHU, can't fault it.

Nice site, handy for the facilities of Bellingham but still has views of countryside from the site. Bellingham has three pubs (the Cheviot is the best for food) plus a post office, butcher, baker, countryside store (which sells some camping supplies), Co op and bank.

This is a working farm, the yard you had to cross to the toilets could get muddy in Wet weather, so it was hard to keep the toilet floor clean, but you get that on many campsites.

Only downside for us was the sheep immediately adjacent to the camping field, in early July they started baa-ing at 4am some mornings, which on the occasions when they were right behind our tent was extremely loud. Ear plugs recommended.

There is also a bunkhouse with drying room and cycle store.

Good walking and cycling just nearby, the site is right on the Pennine Way. Kielder Water is about 8 miles away.

Cost is 8 pounds per adult or 7 for hikers / cyclists without a car. They accept credit card payments.

Good old fashioned campsite no frills bells or whistles just all the basics that you need. Excellent location with no road noise & only a 5min walk to the 3 pubs. Nothing on site for kids but there is a playground in the village. Perfect base for touring the area.

Just had a great week at Desmesne Farm with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. I think this kind of site might be a dying breed which is a real shame. The facilities are basic but clean and you need to cross a farm yard to get to them (wellies are essential if there is any rain!). No queues for the showers while we were there but the site was quiet (interesting to see how much busier the Caravan Club site down the road was!).

At Demesne Farm you get an electric hook up if you need it, hot showers, loos, a washing up sink, somewhere to empty your portaloo and that's it. You also get a lovely farm setting right in the centre of the village and friendly owners. Other than a little farm noise which was to be expected the site was very peaceful.

EHU pitches are marked and generously sized. Despite 2. 5 days of almost continuous rain the site drained well and quickly dried out. We visited Kielder twice (bike hire, walking and fishing), went to Hexham, Corbridge and Haltwhistle and did a day on Hadrians Wall. Oh and when the rain really got too much for the teenagers we left the car in Hexham (£2 for the day!) and took the train to the MetroCentre.

We had 2 very good meals at the Cheviot Hotel, which gets very busy on a weekend, and a good takeaway from the Chinese. The Coop is excellent and you really could find anything you wanted in there, along with the other smaller shops in the village.

There is also a decent sized children's play area in the village with a nice picnic area and riverside walks if you have little ones.

Towing to the site is easy if you take the A69 to Hexham then up to Bellingham. In summary you cant beat this place for location and if you want a proper camping experience then you will love it. We hope to be back one day!

This is a small site for tents, tourers. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Is basic but there are showers, hot water, washing up area. The site is in the village so if you don't want to go far there is no need. 3 pubs and co-op which is open until 10pm every day. There is butcher, baker but no candlestick maker, although there is a very nice shop which sells such things. For those who like to walk there are lovely walks around Bellingham. The facilities are reflected in the price per night which is very reasonable compared to some sites we have been to. If you want a no frills but lovely little site me and all my friends visit regular as we all love it.

This was our first camping trip with our two year old so was a bit nervous if he was still a bit young for camping. He loved it!

The campsite was situated on a small working farm, but was not noisy, we never realy heard much noise from the animals despite them being so close. There were two fields assigned for camping, one with electric which we did not use. We were met by the farmer on arrival who directed us where to find the field and left us to pick a spot which was good. We were able to pitch our tent with ease, ground more then suitable. Toilets and showers were clean and water was hot (50p for shower gave you 6mins more then enough time. )only small issue was pot washing is in male or female toilets so not able to wash dishes together if you wanted.

On site there were lots of lambs, two calfs and free range chickens which our two year old loved. Both farmers were often seen working on the farm and were always very friendly. They allowed our son to go into the barns to get a closer look at the animals and even feed the very tiny baby lambs their bottle. This was a big hit and they became 'his lambs'.

Site is within walking distance to a water fall and village a stones throw away.

Looking forward to returning to this site again.

Just come back from a short stay at this campsite. Its a working farm and the facilities are acceptable for the price though 1 shower wasn't really enough in the ladies and there were queues in the morning. There were 2 showers for the men and one morning my husband said there was a lady using one of them who had obviously got fed up waiting.

The campsite is in a rural setting surrounded by sheep but also in the centre of Bellingham which was pretty much perfect.

There is a larger field for non-ehu pitches which looked lovely but was quite a distance from the amenities. We were in the smaller ehu field nearer the toilets which to be honest felt cramped and claustrophobic. There were 2 groups of 3 families sharing the area which didn't help. One of the reasons I chose this campsite was because in the rules and regulations stated they didn't allow groups of more than 2 families.

If we were to return I would do it in the middle of summer when we didn't need electricity.

Visited Demesne again this week. Absolutely love the place. Bellingham is a beautiful place and the farm itself is perfect. Went by myself and my dog and had a thoroughly relaxing stay. Really nice walks along the river.

Ample shops in the village, 2 banks, 3 pubs and a chinese restaurant/take away. Garage sells everything, like Arkwright's shop.

Going to make an effort to get there more often.

Thanks again to the owners.
