We bought our bl6 earlier this year from campingworld who provided us with an excellent and faultless service.
We looked for a couple of weeks and researched the tents on the market until we spotted the outwell bl6. Although the wolf lake 7 was an option but slightly too wide for us but had a batter fully enclosed canopy.
Ill begin with facts about the bl6 relating to our ownership and use.
-quite easy to erect, especially if you buy the footprint groundsheet as this will offer you the chance to see how the tent will stand within the pitch in relation to the surrounding area. Also it provides guidence when erecting the tent on it, by starting with the front two corners and working back.
-very very stable construction especially once the two lengthways poles are pushed through, tightened and secured, this gives you the govenment to reset the poles perfectly in place.
-the tent has a very understated but quality appearance, everywhere we camp, people especially our neighbours come over and have a chat about it, and always get positive comments which is always a good start to our holidays.
-one thing which is overlooked is the tents superb soundproofing. Ill explain this in simple terms.
When inside the tent it is like all other tents we have owned in the respect that you can clearly hear others outside, thats normal but the exception is that doesnt mean people can hear you so easily. We carried out an experiment which was very surprising indeed::
Whilst in the tent we put some music on and set the volume to the level to which we thought could be heard by others outside, but astonishingly no, not a peep. Secondly my partner made a phone call whilst inside the tent and spoke normally as others around were doing so and again whilst standing outside I could barely hear the conversation! what this means in reality is just because you can hear others clearly whilst inside the bl6 doesn't mean they can hear you as clearly, so on returning to your tent at 2 am providing you make a reasonable effort you can happily carry on with your evening without the common worry of disturbing your very nice neighbours! what a tent lol
- we have camped in cool weather, rain and searing heat,,
Cool evenings aren't a problem as the tent is made from cotton any heat source you use will warm the tent without stuffiness as it will breath and without any condensation at all. As with the hot weather once all the fly screens are exposed the tent is a good 5 degrees cooler than outside. Lastly the rain seems to avoid this tent completely, you can hear it all around crashing into the tents around but as if by magic the bl6 is whisper quiet! the wind is also not a factor as the tent is so fantastically sturdy and stable.
-we have found though the tent is very spacey especially without the inner compartments, open plan gived the eye a massive cosy space that would cosset any fear of small spaces due to its over 2m height.
- the all enclosed zip in heavy duty ground sheet is an absolute joy, camping without the merest whiff of a chilly draught is fantastic and very cozy on your feet lol.
-the canopy is very well designed, we found it fantastic for cover sitting under it, but the surprise is its very very effective acoustically,, by this I mean you can still sit outside your tent under the canopy as late as you like listening to the dab or mp3 without disturbing others around as the canopy reflects the music holding it around you a little like an auditorium.
= my conclusion is this/// the price is accurate, if you can afford one then buy one, you can buy anything you need later its not important really. If you've set aside money for everything consider spending it on the bl6, you will never ever look back, its possibly the best purchase I have ever made, and now my partner has realised yes I do know what I'm talking about :-)

As everyone knows by now, this is a fantastic tent.
It is simple yet well designed, spacious (especially for a family with 1 or 2 young children), reassuringly stable and quiet in the wind and rain, cool(er) in the sun and warm(er) in the cold. Polycotton rocks and I ain't never going back!
All of the positives massively outweigh any negatives I may have encountered (and I wouldn't swap the BL6 for anything else I've ever see), but here are a few points:
1. Quality control: my first BL6 went back with a fault in the weave on one panel, which had left a small hole. My second one has small pinprick holes along several seams which look like the result of untidy finishing - however, we have tested them and there are no leaks, so we are happy.
2. On the subject of leaks, whatever anyone may say, this tent does need weathering! We had a couple of small leaks during our first torrential downpour (through a panel on the windy side, and a couple of seams), but nothing since.
3. Yes, it is very heavy. And yes, the canopy would be better if it reached the floor both sides. But hey, we knew all that when we bought it so it's hardly a reasonable criticism!
Overall it's pretty much my perfect tent, easily the best I've seen or used. 9 / 10 reflects the quality control issues we experienced: if you get a good 'un, it's a 10/10 tent.

Having suffered for some years now with polyester tents that are hot and clammy and with flexi poles that don't flex and break at the first sign of wind, using our new Bear lake 6 for the first time has been a real eye opener. Everything about this tent shouts out quality. The zips are larger and heavier duty, the stitching is better and we even think the velcro is more sticky. Using it in France in the high 20's was also brilliant as it always seemed to be cooler inside and yet kept the warmth in at night. The new dark windows are brilliant and we just simply love this tent. We would have given it a full 10/10 except for the front door where we feel the ground sheet zip should have been designed to zip up in the opposite direction, buy hey it is still a hell of a tough zip. All in all we cannot stress enough just how worth every penny this tent is, especially when we got over £300 off with a price match at a well known camping superstore.

Just back from our first trip in the BL and am totally won over by it.
It was totally solid in the nasty weather we had and dried out quickly.
Bags of space for just the two of us and made the holiday an absolute joy as it was so comfortable.
The bedroom pods are so dark that I slept much better than previous years with the Montana 6 white/grey pods and the tent overall was so much quieter, especially in the high winds we had howling through the gorge on several days.
My only quibbles with it is that I'd like a mesh zip net on the front door and I'd like Outwell to make the roof protector for this model, two things that would make camping in France even better.

We have owned our BL6 now for 2 years and would not want any other tent, great space inside for 2 adults and 2 children.
Polycotton far superior to the standard polyester, warmer at night / cooler in the day.
Sewn in ground sheet great keeps all the creepy crawlies outside (which keeps the wife and kids happy).
Easy to erect takes wife and I about 1 hour.
When we bought the tent in 2007 we paid £520 at the end of the season which I thought was a lot of money for a tent. Now I think it was a great investment as these tents are around the £800 mark, which is the only reason I have not given it 10/10, just too much money for a tent!.
Still if your looking for a well made comfortable family tent you won't find much better.
I would highly recommend this tent if you can part with best part of a grand !
One last point the tent comes in two large bags which takes up alot of space in your boot, we ended up buying a trailer (more expense)!

I bought the Bear Lake 6 at one of the Yeomans tent sales where they had 20% of the stated price of the tent.
We had seen some bad weather in our old tent which coped well but was a little small for inside activities.
We wanted a poly cotton tent as it is robust and durable and keeps you cool / warm depending on the weather.
The first time we pithed it was simple with no problems - although I am not sure how easy it would be for 1 person.
The tent looked sturdy and well made when we had finished. We noticed there was a clip on the tent roof where the bedroom area was and thought that the related clip on the actual bedroom was missing. We contacted Yeomans who told us that this was an additional clip if you buy the childrens bedroom.
During our first trip the tent was great, lots of room, luxurious carpet and held up to the wind and rain.
We had the footprint so the ground sheet was clean when we had finished so really easy for packing away.

This is our second year with the bear lake 6 and and the only thing we wish it had is a full length canopy like the wolf lake. When it rains heavy we get a slight leak were the run off from the canopy hits the front window, you have to be careful when you pitch it on uneven ground as this makes the door very tight to close. I have packed it away with the zig attached but it makes for a very heavy pack,if I had to change it I would opt for the wolf lake 5 but only for the full length canopy

Just returned from 10 days in South Devon with our new BL6 and we could not have asked for more from our tent. This was our first serious camping trip and the quality and construction of the tent enabled my family to have a comfortable and trouble free holiday, even though the British weather threw everything at us high winds and torrential rain! People that purchase this tent are doing so because of its quality and with quality comes higher weight, I dont believe this is a downfall, if you buy a tent like this you know what you are buying from the outset and it should come as no surprise that in comparison to others it is quite bulky and heavier.
I have never erected a tent before and taking this into consideration it was relatively easy although time consuming at around 2 hrs, this did not matter once inside, the rain was incredibly heavy and no leaks even though through my own stupidity I did not weather the tent before use. I cannot recommend this tent enough and to sum up very stable, dry, has good temp regulation, easy to erect and pull down and high quality materials used. My only disadvantage is the RRP AT £799 but if you shop around you can get at least £300 off this, we managed to get it for £490 from Go Outdoors due to their price match policy which I believe is a bargain, it will last years.

Leaving yet another review on the infamous BL6 might be overkill so I shall be quick!
This is a seriously good bit of kit. Once weathered, it will take on the harshest of the British summer!
There is however one problem that lots of us have talked about on this forum which is why I have only given it a 9, the dreaded front door! It may be a pre-2009 problem but the door is extremely hard to close due to it being too tight. I, like others, have tried all manner of things to try and rectify this to no avail. That said, I still believe this is the best family tent out there. If you're thinking of making the move to polycotton, this is the daddy!

We only got the tent on Tuesday and went to a very windy site on Thursday so no chance for a practice pitch on arrival we mentioned to the people next to us that it was a first pitch and that if they seen we were in trouble would they help well we didn't have any problems but they came and helped any way lol so can't tell you how easy it is to pitch as there was four of us and it went up without a hitch in about an hour, this I am sure will eventually be halved with practice.
Camping in this tent was a joy we took the precaution of pitching next to a hedge but to be honest when the wind changed it had no effect on the tent in side was lovely and warm and the noise difference was very marked when leaving or entering the tent polycotton is a superb material we had quite a bit of rain the first night and despite not weathering it before going we experienced none of the leaks that others have this raises another point and that is the front door zip witch whilst being a little stiff to close caused us no problems either the problem seems to be that the guy ropes pull the fabric a little we eased these off a tad and took a little care over closing the door basically I can see no problem with this. The rear panel of the inner bedroom hangs about 18' clear of the tent and I do feel this compromises the head room in the bedroom when laying with head facing to the rear and wastes space Build quality on our tent is perfect with none of the bad stitching problems also reported.
When we have had more chance to review this tent we will up date our finding as we intend to camp all year in this model and first impressions say this will be a great tent to do it in.We will see lol
