What can I add to what had already been said? A truly perfect tent and I cannot find anything on any campsite to better it. Recently, it successfully managed 6 adults sleeping on 3 double airbeds. Now how many 6 person tents can actually sleep 6 adults this comfortably?
Can only give 9 out of 10 because the bags it comes with are rubbish and very difficult to pack it into. I will be buying the Outwell trolley bags but do think they could've supplied them at this price!

There were several reasons we chose this tent, head height and living space being one of the most important. The windows are great giving a great view if your having wet weather and can open completely in hot weather. Love the zip in ground sheet, which is really easy to zip into place. Pretty easy to put up, but really needs two people to do so. We bought the side extension too, which is a brilliant kitchen area. Would love to have the front extension too, but think a lot of money and there is only so much space you can pitch on :)

We bought our BL6 middle of last summer to replace a well used Montana 4. I fell in love instantly. Loads of space, particularly with the side awning, and much cooler and quieter than we were used to. We felt very snug in the evenings & slept soundly when the wind blew. Unfortunately, during the only bout of heavy rain the tent leaked extensively-from every seam and panel! We honestly had to bail out in the morning. After contacting the vendor the tent was sent away for testing in Scotland and returned to us after they could find no fault. Im starting to doubt my sanity and a little nervous about our first outing of the season to Cornwall. Do polycotton tents need a good down pour to 'weather' or should I purchase a 50 gallon drum of Fabseal and sleep in a wet suit? Some advice would be appreciated. Bomber.

After a substantial downpour in Cornwall (Gwithian Farm) over the June back holiday, I can say our BL6 is now leak free and cosy as you like. The temperature increased throughout the week and the biggest benefit to poly cotton must be its habitability in warm weather.
We had the best of weeks ever and would recommend the BL to all-providing you are strong enough to carry it.

Fantastic tent that is still going strong after 8 summers of camping! Really well made and very hardwearing.
This tent is a fortress against British weather - extremely sturdy in high winds and no leaks in absolute downpours.
It is relatively easy to pitch (2 people minimum - but much easier now the children can help).
The zip-in bathtub groundsheet is really strong. The standing water around the tent would probably have to be about 3 inches deep before you get worried! The optional footprint groundsheet is useful in helping the bottom of the zip-in groundsheet stay a bit cleaner and less likely to get damaged.
The polycotton material seems cooler in hot weather and warmer in cooler weather than my polyester PU tent. The downside of polycotton is that it is quite heavy (even more so when wet), but the advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages on this one!
Our is quite an old model (2007) - with the flat front. We had an additional section added to the original front porch (by a fantastic awning repair company in Ipswich). This made the front porch a much more useful space, for sitting and eating under (Outwell did not make the front extension back then). We are still protected from the rain or sun, but retain the 'open' feel that I think would be lost if the sides came down to the ground.
The Bear Lake 6 is very comfortable four a family of 4 with lots of kit (!) - I would imagine that 4 people in the large pod would be very tight.
The main living space is also pretty roomy. We love the carpet - I was very sceptical of the idea at first - but it does make the tent feel cosy! Having said that, we do put a small waterproof groundsheet under the table with the electric kettle on it to contain any spills etc though.
Looking at the newer models, Outwell does seem to have added some useful features, such as the universal pod (we have two separate ones), the pockets on the section between the pod doors and the rail/wardrobe in the living space.
Having owned this tent for some time, I certainly don't regret buying it and have yet to suffer from 'tent envy' !

Have used this tent for the past two seasons and I cannot speak too highly of it.
The tent has a large snug living area that provides space for the when the weather is at it's worse. I bought the tent for £540 but note that the 2009 model has an rrp of £999! I would look for a 08 model, Yeoman's have some for £528, grab one now!

We bought an ex-display model, and thought it was expensive, paid around £450, we can see from todays prices is was a wise investment!
Its bulky in its bags and quite heavy but its the best tent ever.
We had not owned a tent before purchasing the BL6, so it took a few goes at putting it up before we felt confident.
We purchased a kitchen extension which is brilliant when using the tent for longer periods.Have yet to purchase a carpet though!
Spent 2 years running in a very wet Cornwall, tent kept us dry. Only leak was at the bottom of the bedroom canopy where the inside was touching the outer canvas.
The pleasure of no condensation and moisture inside the tent of a dewy morning is hard to beat.
Height inside the tent was important as my husband is over 6ft and needed all the encouragement in the world to actually try camping.
Inside the tent you feel secure, even in the worst of weather.

This tent has a good feel to it being canvas and therefore not prone to condensation. It is also quieter than other fabrics when there is a breeze or it is raining. The tunnel design is extremely stable in stormy weather. It is easy to erect as I have often done so single handed although it helps if you are tall. The groundsheet which is of heavy duty material zips in giving exellent protection from unwanted intruders. Six windows give a light and airy feel with plenty of ventilation. With the curtains down it offers a private roomy living area where there is plenty of space for a table and chairs and space for storage. The sleeping pods are fitted with two way zips for quick entry and exit. This tent is sold as a 6 man tent but I would not want to sleep more than 4 adults in the pods. There is however plenty of room in the living area for a further two people to sleep comfortably. The crowning glory of this tent is the front canopy under which there is ample room to sit sheltered from the sun or rain. All in all a safe, secure and roomy family tent which is a joy to be in.

Not been one for writing a lot so expect poor grammar, just suffice to say take all the good points from all the previous reviews. This is a brilliant tent using all the best design and materials from bygone years, non of your wibbly wobbly fibre glass poles and nylon sheets hence the weight issue. But when in use which wasn`t long after arrival on site, after a couple or so practices. My only problem was as the weather for first couple of days including during the pitching process was abysmal. I'd set up the kitchen area near to the front flat face of BL6 which ended up in a heap as gail force 7/8 winds slammed into this un-guyable part of the tent, I had to stand the kitchen 2 feet away to prevent reoccurance. If I could sew, I'd stitch some additional guying loops on as this was the only downfall of an otherwise perfect tent. This was in the Lake District but the remaining 8 days were like the beautiful weather we`ve had recently which was again handled very well ie cooler in the tent, thanks to the polycotton fabric.

Bought this tent a couple of years ago as my wife wanted something a bit bigger than the little 4 man tent we used to have, if we were to go camping every year.
The Outwell BL6 is a fantastic tent very spacious, two bedrooms and a large living area, there are also 2 side doors you can use aswell as the main door, you can now purchase a ext to the side doors that makes this tent even better.
After watching the video of how to put the BL6 up, I soon got the hang of it and it now takes us about 1 hour to pitch the tent, icl attaching the bedrooms and all the niggley stuff.
Although I could do with going to the gym so I could pick it up, this is an excellent family tent and would recommend it.
