Absolutely fantastic campsite if you just want to get away and forget life's troubles.

So peaceful they only noises I've heard are the horses and its fantastic.

Just remember to bring 1 pound or 2 pound coins with you for the shower.

Simple but lovely campsite near the coast.

Provides everything you need, lush grassy pitch, clean loos, showers and dishwashing facilities.

Mainly self-serve when we were there but owner v responsive over email and text.

We are very happy returning to this beautiful, unspoilt campsite!

Fantastic view, clean toilets, simple facilities but all well kept, reliable and quiet.

For this site you do need your own vehicle/ wheeled transport to reach nearest shops in Egremont, but you can walk to the beach!

Many thanks.

A perfect and authentic camping spot, peace and quiet, and beautiful horses to wake up to

It's only a 3 mile walk to or from St Bees.

Thank you very much for a great stay.

Lovely quiet site that is well cared for, good amenities, very clean,

Local taxi to take you into town, notice board with reasonable taxi service and food takeaway services displayed in toilet block,

Only issue I had was it should be better signed up as travelled past it and had to travel some distance to have room to turn car n caravan around.

Fisherground Campsite - Eskdale

Nestling in the beautiful Eskdale Valley close to Scafell, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, this site is a children's paradise in the heart of the Lake District. The first thing that meets you on arrival is the pond, fed by a stream and usually full of children paddling and playing on tyre rafts. The playground has zip wires, climbing frames, tyre rope-swings and adventure courses.

Grass pitches (some with EHU) for tents, motorhomes, VW-sized campervans (no caravans). Refurbished toilets, showers and laundry. Peace is the watchword on the campsite - catering mainly for families and couples with silence after 10.30pm. Don't forget your marshmallows - campfires are allowed in selected areas. Nearby shop and pub. And there's an added extra: the site sits along the route of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway line, with it's own station. Choo Choo! Find out more here

This is our third visit, staying in both tent and motorhome, visiting family. Perfect for our requirements: a simple site, always clean, calm with lovely views.

Everything worked fine for us (there is a knack to the shower - mains power must be on to register money in meter).

It can feel windy, but then this is Cumbria and we haven't lost a tent yet!

The owner is always helpful at replying to text messages. A basic picnic bench would be helpful.

Ellergill, we loved our 5 nights camping. If you enjoy camping and enjoy peace and quite then this is the place.

The amenities are basic but everything you need eg warm shower and toilets and washing station.

There are lovely walks and a walk down to the seafront to watch the sunsets.

Our second stay on this beautiful, totally peaceful open field site near to Egremont. It has two (or three?)toilets, one shower and out-door covered washing-up area, all which work well, and this level of facilities suited us.

We also like that only part of the site is mown in a careful circuit, the grass in the centre is allowed to grow tall and some young trees have been planted.

It has good, clean, lit toilets and the owner fixed the simple power-related problem with the shower as soon as we told them. (Remember to bring £1 or 50p coins too!)

There is an easy walk along a lane to enjoy the pebbley beach, or even walk on to St Bees! For us, a brilliant central location for visiting family and lakes, or just enjoying dark night sky.

We had two small tents and a motorhome and even though a fairly exposed site, all stayed put even in strong winds, so the surrounding hedges may help.

We were very happy to remember to always shut the gate, which is essential here as there are horses nearby.

Our only suggestion is that it would benefit from another picnic bench or at least a more sturdy one.

I liked the site, basic but that's what we like

We walked to st bees head lovely walk along the coastal path and back.

Lovely small, quiet site with good views across farmland to the fells.

Clean and well presented.

Nice patch of uncut grass in the middle supporting wildlife
